Owens continued to attack Yano after the match while KENTA and Takahashi fights off the others trying to help.
They announced Kota Ibushi is out of action. Hiroshi Tanahashi will replace him in the main event against Shingo Takagi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
Hiromu Takahashi came to the ring to welcome the crowd. Chris Charlton on English commentary said that Hiromu Takahashi is medically cleared to return. Hiromu called out both El Desperado and Robbie Eagles saying that he will be the first to challenge the winner.
2 - IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: Rocky Romero and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori
ELP hit Sudden Death on a young lion at ringside. Ishimori gets the advantage for his team by hitting a lariat on Rocky. Bullet Club works over Rocky. Rocky makes the tag to Taguchi. Pace picks up. All four men in the ring. ELP hit an insane top rope walk into a moonsault onto his opponents. The Mega Coaches were fixated on exposing ELP’s loaded boot.
ELP hits CR2 on Taguchi and gets the pin fall win.
El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori retain the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship.
Really good match. Comedy was kept to a minimum. El Phantasmo was excellent in this match and showed off what an athlete he is.
3 - IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship: Robbie Eagles vs. El Desperado
Desperado went after Eagles left leg immediately. Eagles fought back with kicks and strikes. Desperado kept his focused attack on Eagles left leg. Eagles dropkicked the leg of Desperado and locked in the Ron Miller Special. Desperado screamed in pain but was able to reach the ropes. Both men were holding their injured legs. They start trading elbows and forearms. Desperado hits a Spinebuster and locks in Numero Dos. Eagles reverses into a roll up. Two count.
Eagles hit a 450 splash on the leg of Desperado and locks in the Ron Miller Special.
Desperado taps out.
Robbie Eagles wins the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship!
Damn great match. Too much to recap but it was an awesome wrestling match. Desperado and Eagles over the past four events told great stories in the ring.
Eagles acknowledged Hiromu Takahashi at ringside and his challenge for the title.
4 - Kazuchika Okada vs. Jeff Cobb
Great O-Khan is the corner of his partner.
After feeling each other out, Cobb put Okada on the top rope and dropkicked him to the floor. Cobb stomped on the back of Okada. Cobb used his power to work on the injured back. Okada hit a flapjack to change momentum. Okada used his speed to attack and move. Okada dropkicked Cobb out of the ring and hit a DDT on the floor. Back in the ring, Okada locks in the Money Clip. Cobb powers out and goes to the floor. Okada goes for a plancha. Cobb catches Okada and lifts him into a running vertical Suplex on the floor.
Cobb hits a running powerslam. Two count. Okada hits a dropkick. Okada misses a Rainmaker. Cobb hits a lariat of his own. They trade elbows. Okada avoids two Tour of the Islands. Both men had a series of reversals.
Okada rolls up Cobb and gets a flash pin.
Another great match. Both men were at the top of their games. Hopefully both will be in upcoming G1 Climax.
5 - IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship: Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi vs. SANADA and Tetsuya Naito
Miho Abe leads Taichi to ringside. LIJ focused on the heavy taped knee of ZSJ. This was back and forth battle. The speed of both teams was amazing. Naito was relentless on the knee of ZSJ. About 30 minutes in, Naito hit an Esperanza on ZSJ for a two count. ZSJ locked Naito in a Triangle Choke. Taichi hit Black Mephisto on SANADA. Naito hit Destino on Taichi. ZSJ dropped Naito with a Zack Driver. All men were on their backs in the ring. A series of reversals. Naito went for Destino. ZSJ reverses out and trapped Naito with a European Clutch.
Zack Sabre Jr pins Naito.
Dangerous Tekkers win the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship!
Wow! Awesome match. My apologies for a lack of a recap but there was so much action in this match. These men beat the hell out of each other. Go watch this match on New Japan World.
Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI came to ringside to stake their claim as the next challengers. Tekkers quickly left the ring with their Title belts. LIJ had words with CHAOS, and left the ring. No answer to the challenge by CHAOS.
6 - IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Shingo Takagi
Both men begin chain wrestling as they look for an advantage. Tanahashi came off the ropes a bit awkwardly and Takagi could not catch him. But Takagi corrected the situation, picked up Tanahashi and hit a Death Valley Driver. This put Takagi in control as he took the match to the floor. Back in the ring, Takagi used submissions and strikes to weaken Tanahashi. Tanahashi counters with a Dragon Screw. Tanahashi dropkicks the knee and goes for a Texas Cloverleaf. Takagi reverses out and they trade elbow strikes. Takagi is out on the floor. Tanahashi hits a High Fly Flow from the top rope to the floor. Back in the ring, Tanahashi hammers Takagi with elbows. He hits three Twist and Shouts. Tanahashi goes for a Slingblade. Takagi reverses into a Noshigami. Takagi hits a Sliding Lariat. Tanahashi attacks with Dragon Screws and traps him in a Texas Cloverleaf. Takagi gets a break in the ropes.
Takagi hits a Dragon Screw on Tanahashi. Takagi hits a GTR on floor. Tanahashi writhing and holding his neck. Tanahashi makes it back in the ring before the count. Takagi hits Made in Japan. Two count. Takagi hits a Pumping Bomber. Two count. Takagi hit about 15 elbows and a head butt. Takagi goes for Last of the Dragon, but Tanahashi counters into a Slingblade. Tanahashi hits a Kamagoye and a High Fly Flow. TWO COUNT! Damn!
Takagi, who is dazed, picks up Tanahashi and hits Last of the Dragon. But he could not make the pin. Both men throw vicious elbows. Tanahashi drops Takagi with a headbutt. Tanahashi with a Dragon Suplex. Two count. Both men battle on the top ropes. Takagi hits Last of the Dragon from the top rope. Two count. Takagi drops Tanahashi with a lariat. Takagi picks up Tanahashi for the Last of the Dragon.
Takagi pins Tanahashi.
Shingo Takagi retains the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship!
Awesome match. Both men took a crazy beating. In my opinion, Shingo Takagi is the Wrestler of 2021.
Takagi takes the mic and praises Tanahashi. He thanks Tanahashi for having this match with him. Takagi also puts over Ibushi for trying to make this match. He tells Ibushi that he will wait that till he is healthy and the belt will be waiting. Takagi thanks the fans for watching them tonight and enduring the pandemic.
Lights go out. EVIL shows up on the screen and challenges Takagi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
Lights come on and EVIL is behind Takagi and he hits Everything is Evil. EVIL and Dick Togo leave ringside.
Takagi is helped from the ring.
