Ikuto Hidaka suffered a left leg injury during his GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship match against HAYATA at NOAH’s show yesterday in Korakuen Hall and was unable to compete in the fifth match as previously scheduled. NOSAWA Rongai took his place.

Alejandro was revealed as the new junior heavyweight member of Kongoh. His name has been shortened to Aleja in NOAH.

Masato Tanaka pinned Takashi Sugiura and challenged him for the GHC National Championship, also offering to put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line. A match for both titles will take place at NOAH’s show on August 15 in Kawasaki, which will be each man’s second defense of their respective titles.

Wrestling his first match since February, Daiki Inaba returned in the main event as Kaito Kiyomiya and Masa Kitamiya’s mystery partner. However, he was pinned by Manabu Soya.

NOAH has announced the full card for its show on July 27 in Kawasaki. The full card is:

The winning teams from match two and match three will face off in the main event.

NOAH has announced the full field for this year’s N-1 Victory will be revealed at its show on August 6 in Korakuen Hall.

Big Japan Pro Wrestling

Big Japan Pro Wrestling held a show today in Korakuen Hall.

The full results were:

• Kazuki Hashimoto and Takuho Kato def. Kazumasa Yoshida and Kazumi Kikuta
• Tatsuya Hanami and Yuya Aoki def. Kota Sekifuda and Tatsuhiko Yoshino
• Fuminori Abe, Keiki Suzuki and Ryota Hama def. Kosuke Sato, Shigehiro Irie and Yuji Okabayashi
• Deathmatch: Abdullah Kobayashi, Jaki Numazawa and Ryuji Ito def. Hideyoshi Kamitani, Masaya Takahashi and Yuki Ishikawa
• Isami Kodaka and Yuko Miyamoto def. Akira Hyodo and Kankuro Hoshino
• BJW World Strong Heavyweight Championship: Yasufumi Nakanoue (c) vs. Takuya Nomura – Time Limit Draw (30 minutes)
• BJW Deathmatch Heavyweight Championship: Drew Parker def. Takumi Tsukamoto (c)

After recording a fever and missing Big Japan’s two shows in Yokkohama Radiant Hall today, Daichi Hashimoto also missed today’s show. He has, however, tested negative for COVID-19. Tatsuya Hanami took his place in the second match teaming with Yuya Aoki in a winning effort against Kota Sekifuda and Tatsuhiko Yoshino.

As per the fifth match’s stipulation, Isami Kodaka and Yuko Miyamoto earned the right to challenge Fuminori Abe and Takuya Nomura for the BJW Tag Team Championships at Big Japan’s show on August 8 in Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. It will be Abe and Nomura’s second defense of the titles.

Yasufumi Nakanoue made his fifth successful defense of the BJW World Strong Heavyweight Championship after wrestling Nomura to a 30-minute time limit draw. After the match, Abe challenged Nakanoue for the title.

Drew Parker defeated Takumi Tsukamoto to win the BJW Deathmatch Heavyweight Championship for the first time in his career in the main event.

Parker is the third foreign wrestler to win the title, joining Abdullah The Butcher and John Zandig.

Speaking backstage after his match (before the main event had taken place), Miyamoto announced he would challenge the winner of the main event so one could reasonably expect Parker to attempt his first defense of the title against Miyamoto in the near future.

Before then, however, Parker will travel to America to challenge Alex Colon for the GCW Ultraviolent Championship at Game Changer Wrestling’s Homecoming show tomorrow in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

It is mathematically possible for Parker to travel from Japan to America and wrestle on the same day as New Jersey is 13 hours behind Tokyo. Making such a lengthy trip directly after a deathmatch main event, arguably the biggest match of his career no less, as well as wrestling another marquee deathmatch on the day of his arrival is a true testament to Parker’s commitment.

Daisuke Sekimoto, who has not wrestled since May 30 due to a right knee infection, has announced he hopes to be cleared by doctors to resume training at his next checkup on June 27.

Pro Wrestling ZERO1

Yoshiki Inamura suffered a fractured left fibula during his Fire Festival match against Fuminori Abe at Pro Wrestling ZERO1’s show yesterday in Niigata.

Inamura will forfeit his final tournament match against Masato Tanaka, which was previously scheduled to take place the ZERO1’s show tomorrow in EDION Arena Osaka #2.

ZERO1 has changed the card to accomodate for Inamura’s absence.

The updated card is:

• Genta Hiriki and Takumi Baba vs. Junya Matsunaga and Ryo Hoshino
• Naoshi Sano vs. Yoshikazu Yokoyama
• Hartley Jackson, Shoki Kitamura and Takafumi vs. Hide Kubota, Masato Tanaka and Yasu Kubota
• Fire Festival B block: Shogun Okamoto vs. Takuya Sugawara
• Fire Festival B block: Chris Vice vs. Shigehiro Irie
• Fire Festival A block: Fuminori Abe vs. Shinjiro Otani

The match order is undecided as of the publishing of this article.

Going into the show, the current Fire Festival standings are:

A block
1. Masato Tanaka (4-1 record): 19 points
2. Shinjiro Otani (3-1 record): 15 points
3. Yoshiki Inamura (3-2 record): 15 points
4. Hartley Jackson (2-3 record): 10 points
5. Fuminori Abe (1-3 record): 5 points
6. Tsugutaka Sato (1-4 record): 5 points

B block
1. Chris Vice (2-1-1 record): 13 points
2. Ayato Yoshida (2-2-1 record): 13 points
3. Shogun Okamoto (2-2 record): 10 points
-. Takuya Sugawara (2-2 record): 10 points
5. Takafumi (2-3 record): 10 points
6. Shigehiro Irie (2-2 record): 9 points

Unlike other round-robin tournaments, the scoring system for the Fire Festival is slightly different, making the final block tiebreakers a bit more complicated.

Five points are awarded for victory by pinfall, submission or knockout. Four points are awarded for victory by referee stoppage, countout or disqualification. Three points are awarded for a draw (there is a 30-minute time limit for all block matches) and zero points are awarded for a loss.

If Shinjiro Otani defeats Fuminori Abe by any means, he will win A block with either 20 points or 19 points as he has the head-to-head tiebreaker against Tanaka. If Otani draws with Abe or Abe wins, Tanaka will win A block.

Chris Vice, Shigehiro Irie, Shogun Okamoto and Takuya Sugawara are all in the running to win B block.

Vice currently leads the block with 13 points. If he defeats Irie by any means or draws with Irie (bringing his total to either 18, 17 or 16 points), he will win B block as neither Okamoto or Sugawara can surpass 15 points.

If Irie defeats Vice by pinfall, submission or knockout (thus earning all five available points and bringing his total to 14 points), he will need Okamoto and Sugawara to draw (meaning both men would finish with 13 points) to definitively win B block.

If Okamoto or Sugawara defeat the other by pinfall, submission or knockout and Irie defeats Vice, then the winning man would win B block with 15 points. If Okamoto or Sugawara defeat the other by referee stoppage, countout or disqualification and Irie defeats Vice by pinfall, submission or knockout then the winning man and Irie would be tied at 14 points. Sugawara has the head-to-head tiebreaker against Irie, while Irie has the head-to-head tiebreaker against Okamoto.

If Irie defeats Vice by referee stoppage, countout or disqualification (thus only earning four points) and Okamoto and Sugawara draw – causing all three men to finish with 13 points – then there would be a five-way tie at the top of the block including Ayato Yoshida and Vice.

In the event of a five-way tie, Irie would win the block due to head-to-head tiebreakers with three wins and one loss against the other four men. Sugawara would finish second place with two wins, one draw and one loss. The remaining three men would be tied for third place with one win, one draw and two losses.
