As of this morning, AEW has moved nearly 16,000 tickets for the 9/22 Dynamite Grand Slam event in Queens, New York, their debut in NYC. That means with over two months to go, the event will feature the largest AEW crowd of all time.
PWInsider.com is told that the company has begun opening up sections of Arthur Ashe Stadium that previously were not planned to be sold as they would position fans behind the entrance stage, but since there is such a demand for tickets, AEW will now utilize those areas. That could push the planned 17,000 seats to as much as in the area of 19,000.
AEW's plan is to continue to open up seating to accomodate as many fans as possible all the way until the day of the show. One source told PWInsider.com that they are treating the event with the attitude that until they have 100% locked in the production on 9/22, they will continue to release additional seats.
Needless to say, AEW is thrilled with the response they have received in the NYC market, especially since they did not even undertake a heavy advertising campaign directed at New York to push tickets.
