Women’s Wrestling Revolution Plus “Pain For Pleasure”

7/18/21 Worcester, MA

Streaming living on IWTV

After a pair of hot shows in their brand relaunch, WWR+ is back with their July offering and looking to make their mark on the road to Beyond’s Americanrana. We’ve been promised some Americanrana news and I’ve heard WWR+ will be factoring into things next month. There was a huge tease for a showdown between Megan Bayne and Trish Adora teased at the last show and it looks like they won’t be in each other’s orbit today….SO FAR. Rich Palladino is your announcer. Alyssa Marino & Paul Crockett are your commentary team for today’s action. AND WE’RE LIIIIIIIVE ON IWTV!

“Hooked on a Feeling” rings through the venue as The Sea Stars make their way to the ring to kick us off with their matches.

Match 1: “The Wild Child” Jody Threat vs “Reel Catch” Ashley Vox (w/ Delmi Exo)

Threat comes in hot but Vox is able to work some hip tosses in to control the wild child. Threat trying to reverse her way out but the sea star has her hooked. Big dropkicks from Vox and a rana has Threat on the defense. Jody sent to the outside and Vox dives to the outside. Vox tries a follow up crossbody but Threat finally catches her fish and drives her down with a backbreaker. Threat beats her up in the corner with shoulders and a big toss has thee reel catch staggering. Ashley with a sunset flip rollup but pops back up to eat a lariat from Jody. Big popup ddt out of desperation from Vox and they’re both down. Struggle to their feet, Vox firing up with strikes and a Thez press. Vox screams as she grabs a fishhook and uses it for a ripcord larait for two. Tilt a whirl DDT won’t keep Threat down. Vox is frustrated and Threat takes advantage. Huge Michanoku driver. Threat to the top and does a long delay vertical superplex. Vox kicks out of that but the follow up Doctor bomb does her in.

Winner: Jody Threat

Crowd needed a warmup. This did it. Couple of early technical hiccups but otherwise a good opener. That delay vertical suplex off the top was awesome. Vox takes position at ringside to let her Sea Stars partner take her turn in the ring.

Match 2: Becca vs Delmi Exo (w/ Ashley Vox)

Delmi and Becca go back and forth with some hold trading. Becca with a big german out of the corner for two. Dropkick to Deli hung up on the rope and a handspring double knees for two. Becca eats the buckles and a northern lights bridge almost puts her away. Delmi locks up the legs and tries for a surfboard stretch but Becca is good at defending her scrunchie’s honor. Becca trying to fight back but Delmi’s taken her legs. Fisherman’s suplex for two and it looks like the Sea Stars might go 0-2 today??? Delmi pulls out a playing card and gives Becca paper cuts??? Becca’s fired up and mad now. Big crossbody off the top but Delmi hits a ripcord lariat when Becca tries a springboard follow up. Pin sequences, Becca with a superkick, Delmi with a rebound cutter. Two count! Becca escapes a superplex and after some reversal back and forth, hits a spinning back kick that puts Exo’s lights out.

Winner: Becca

Becca put the scrunchie stuff on hold to take it to Exo today. The chemistry was a little off here but overall this worked. The Sea Stars are left in the ring, pondering their losses as High Society makes their entrance. They say their huge fans but….maybe not do much anymore since their are double losers. They usher them out of the ring to some nearby chairs so they can show the Sea Stars “how it’s done”.

Match 3: The Outfielders (Molly McCoy & Boomer Hatfield) vs Higher Society (Paris Van Dale & Armani Kayos)

Paris puts her finger in McCoy’s chest. They ain’t having that. Molly with a couple of chest kicks and some head slaps (“Two for flinching!”). Kayos tags in to save Van Dale and Boomer comes in to play. Boomer picks the pace right up and has Kayos reeling with arm drags and dropkicks. Molly in with a running elbow in the corner. Paris pulls Boomer off the apron to the crowd’s dismay. Kayos blasts Molly with a rear view and it’s time for Higher Society to go to work. Paris with a split leg drop for two while Boomer tries to will Molly to the corner. Higher Society with a double X Factor for two. Molly firing up but Higher Society uses a ref distraction to keep Molly down. Kayos goes to use Molly’s hockey stick on Boomer but the Seaa Stars cut that off. Molly firing up again, Gory Bomb to Kayos. Molly wraps up the shoulder and neck of Van Dale, forcing the tap!

Winners: The Outfielders

I love to hate Higher Society. Molly did most of the work this month, able to take the heat and finish the match themselves, after so much foul play from HS. The Sea Stars grab the mic to make sure Higher Society knows how much they learned from them tonight.

Veda is out for her Open Challenge. After a healthy “welcome back” chant, Veda addressees us. Beyond and WWR are Veda’s home promotion…and she needs to get back into fighting shape. Who will answer the call of the open challenge? Whoa, it’s Skylar!!! A hero’s welcome for the bright and sunny Hot Scoop as she dances her way to the ring.

Match 4: Veda Scott vs “Hot Scoop” Skylar

Oh wait….This is clearly NOT a happy friendly Skyler, who attacks Veda during her entrance. The Top Dog is back. “DID YOU MISS MEEEEE?” She pummels Veda, grabs a chair and wraps her arm in it. Skylar off the top and Veda shrieks as her arm is crushed in the metal. Veda’s pissed and fights her with feet at ringside. Skyler begs for mercy but let’s Veda kick the post. Skylar screams “you should stick to commentary” but Veda drags her to the floor and gets Skylar to tap out….but it’s on the floor so it doesn’t count. Back in the ring, Veda with a shining wizard for two. She wants suplex but her arm won’t do it. Skylar with a rebound kick for two. Veda tries a cross face but the arm won’t hold it and Skylar gets the rope. Veda firing up, big fisherman’s suplex for two. Skylar baits Veda into a forearm battle but Veda is hurting herself. Slaps back and forth, double larait and double down.  Veda fights her to the top rope, fisherman’s buster off the top! Skylar rakes the eye and wraps an arm triangle on Veda to get the tap.

Winner: Skylar

This was great. I loved the turn from Skylar who reminded everyone that not all returns should be showered in cheers. Veda worked hard through that arm injury at the start but it was a matter of time before she couldn’t hurt herself any longer and Skylar picked her apart.

Match 5: Kayla Sparks vs “Your Favorite Stewardess” Rebecca Scott

Kayla is making her return to professional wrestling after a 14 year absence! Kayla controls Scott early with headlocks takedowns and rolls her around the ring. Scott tries to get into her head with a fake out handshake but Sparks keeps her grounded in the lock. Scott with a big back drop and starts to works over Spark’s neck. Sparks back with a cross body but caught into a backbreaker. Scott cracking a few airline puns before running herself into the post. Sparks decking Scott repeatedly. Scott with a gut kick and snap DDT out of the corner and Sparks is starched for the three.

Winner: Rebecca Scott

Wow, the energy out of this match was great. It was a sprint but the crowd got with it right away. I don’t know where Kayla Sparks has been hiding for 14 year but welcome back! What an immediate energy that came from her. After the fact, I found out they are both out of Team Adams and this was Scott’s FIRST official match. I liked her too. Hell of a debut. Hell of a return.

Match 6: Rickey Shane Page vs Kennedi Copeland

Page is in full-on a**hole mode today as her overpowers Copeland and makes fun of her generally emo personality. Copeland with a furious slaps but that earns her a boot to the face and a yeet across the ring. “What happened to all that angst, ms. Murder?” As he throws her across the ring with a helicopter facebuster. JEEEEEESUS. She kicks out defiantly and slaps him across the face. RSP yeets her across the ring again. RSP goes for a swanton bomb but misses. Kennedi is so beat down, RSSP is able to get to the top and miss a frog splash. Kennedi dodges a senton and head scissors him down. Kennedi firing up with strikes in the corner but RSP reverses and cut it (and he crowd fire) off with a single hit. Copeland with a crossbody that takes him off his feet. Tilt a whirl…into a arm bar.Crowd screaming for RSP to tap out but he gets his foot to the rope. Copeland runs into a pair of boots. RSP fakes her out and she rolls but he walks the rope and hits a frog splash in the new spot. He goes for a choke breaker but she grabs an arm bar out of it. RSP is staggered with kicks and eats a running knee for a near fall. Kennedi comes off the top but RSP catches her and a choke breaker leaves her laying for the three.

Winner: Ricky Shane Page

Kennedi Copeland shined here as a pure bump machine in the face of RSP doing his best Bork Lazer work. This was borderline uncomfortable to watch some of those throws but the crowd was FIRMLY on Copeland’s side with every comeback she mustered. Great energy. RSP can be suuuuuuuuuch a d***, in the best way possible.

Match 7: “The Gladiator of the Geeks” RIley Shepard vs “The Conduit of Karma” Kaia McKenna

They compare swords, Riley’s big cosplay long sword and Kaia’s tiny scrying dagger. They trade some early hammerlocks and reversal pleasantries, Riley turns a monkey flip into a body scissors. Kaia with a seated surfboard. Riley trying to grab the leg but Kaia gets the wrist and drags her to the mat repeatedly. Riley gets Kaia running and drops her over the knee. Riley whips her hard into the buckle and Kaia has a literal target on her back now. Kaia with a good up and over counter roll up for two. Kaia dodges a dropkick and fires up with forearms, big bull dog out of the corner. Kaia drives her feet into Shepard’s back and locks up her head with her legs. Shepard rolls out and breaks it up ugly with a pin attempt. Riley gets Kaia into a fireman’s carry, DVD over the knee (”GAME OVER”) and Kaia’s down for the count.

Winner: Riley Shepard

This was pretty rough. The crowd was coming down from that RSP/Copeland match and this didn’t quite bring enough to keep them fired up. But if you want fire? Little Mean Kathleen storms the ring immediately after the match to a huuuuuge crowd reaction. She’s having another open challenge (admitting her last one didn’t work out so well) except she is choosing the opponent this time. Wait, what? She chooses Riley Shepard! Wait, what? Looks like we have a wild contest for next month! When IS next month’s show?

Match 8: “The Babe with the Power” Willow Nightingale vs Tina San Antonio

The Team Adams head trainer Damian Adams is Special Guest Referee for this grudge match….with his student, San Antonio. <eyes narrow> Willow comes right in with the gutwrench but Tina punching at the knee and powders quick. Willow drags her back and beats the crap out of her from corner to corner. WIllow wraps up the legs and pulling at the face in a STF variation. Tina rolls out of a senton and starts working Willow’s back. Sliding elbow for two. Willow fires up but runs into a sleeper and Tina drags her right to the mat. Adams checks on Willow while San Antonio works her legs on the ropes for leverage. Tina with a running leg drop and tries for the pin several times. She tries an elbow drop but Willow has it scouted. Willow with a HUGE spinebuster and that must have been a 2.999999999 count. Willow with a running senton for another 2. Willow shoved off the apron and Tina whips her to the post. Tina sets up a chair but Willow beats her into it. Tina kicks out the leg and bounces her face off the steel . Tina brings the chair back in and DDT’s Willow onto it. Ref Adams FINALLY removes the chair after Willow kicks out. Willow with a reverse superkick and goes for the chair but Ref Adams takes it away. Willow with a gutwrench powerbomb but Ref Adams hurts his leg trying to make the cover and Tina is saved again. Everyone is checking  on Adams when Tina comes up to make the roll up and Damian Adams is perfectly fine to make the fast three count and let his student escape with the win.

Winner: Tina San Antonio

OH, THE FIX WAS IN. Willow had the crowd through this. Tina is wonderfully hateable. I wish Damian showed a little more personality in this, at least after it was clear this was a screw job finish and he masterminded it.

Match 9: “The Afropunk” Trish Adora vs Ashley D’Amboise

Handshake of respect to kick this off. Trish struggling to control D’Amboise who is rolling in and out of danger with the Afropunk. Trish holding the arm throughout, Ashley gets the break in the corner but loses her head in the process. Ashley starts to flip and cartwheel her way out of the hold but Trish is relentless, getting the headlock back and dropping D’Amboise. Ashley briefly gets a shoulder lock onto Adora but eats a big boot on the break. Adora laying in some heavy boot to the back and chest. Ashley with a jawbreaker to the escape and hits a butterfly suplex. Ashley tries a bulldog but gets reversed into a sidewalk slam for two. Adora with a step up enziguri for a near fall. PK to the arm and another slam from Adora, Ashley with a desperate uranage but it’s not enough. Adora tries a stump puller pin. Ashley with the rollup. Adora with a back slide pin and bridges over it and Ashley has no where to go. Count it down, ref Quinn.

Winner: Trish Adora

Trish and D’Amboise have technical wrestling skill for days so please let’s run this back again sometime. Liked this one a LOT. Before Trish can leave, Megan Bayne makes her entrance and these two have another staredown before Megasus gets to the ring for her main event showdown.

Main Event: “Megasus” Megan Bayne vs “Not America’s Sweetheart” Davienne

Davienne is full-on face with thee Worcester crowd today “Davie Baby clap clap clapclapclap”. Power for power right from the start. Bayne works Davienne to the corner and confidently allows her to walk out of it. Bayne working the headlock and a big body block. She gets distracted letting the crowd boo her, and misses an elbow drop. Davienne tries to come back but Bayne works her over in a test of strength. Davienne with a monkey flip pin and almost gets Megasus when she locks the legs. The crowd gets a good “Megasux” chants going and Davienne nearly. Rolls her up again. Davienne has the arm but Megan scoop slams. Davienne with a shoulder tackle and clubbing and Bayne’s chest in the corner. Bayne catches Davienne with the up and over and powerslams her out of the corner. Backbreaker to Davienne and Megasus poses in the boos. Bayne raining down stomps and a snap suplex. Davienne is in deep trouble but she keeps kicking out. Davienne comes running and gets hit with a Samoan drop. Atomic drop to Davienne but Bayne hits nothing with a leg drop. Davienne weakly clubbing at Megan’s knee. Bayne drives her to the mat for that offense. Double handed slam but Davienne dodges a corner splash. Davienne with her own body splash but Bayne guts her with a knee. Bayne wants her to bow down but Davienne with the ripcord lariat. Davienne ducks a lariat and slams Bayne for two. Deep boston crab on Megasus but she kicks her way out of the hold. Megasus posts herself at high velocity. Davienne gets her up in the corner but Bayne powerbombs her down. Bayne confidently grabs Davienne and hits the Bow Down swinging uranage for the definitive pin.

Winner: Megan Bayne

Bayne is a PRESENCE. Davienne keeps putting on great matches with each outing in WWR. Really enjoyed the contest between these two but we know where this is headed…Trish Adora makes her way back out to the ring to give Bayne another look. They go face to face…..and then start trading forearms! Adora has the advantage as the locker room spills out to break up the fight. Pull apart brawl. Bayne gets dragged to the outside as Trish shouts for her to come fight. “This is my ring. Where you at?!?”. Excellent!

And that’s it for “Pain for Pleasure”! We had one important story to tell tonight: Getting to that big match that is Megan Bayne vs Trish Adora. And we WILL get that. Some other disjointed thoughts: Team Adams is apparently really good at training wrestlers. This current crop is so varied but all really technically sound in their work. These shows are becoming an absolute showcase for their rising talent. Higher Society are fantastically good heels but it will be hard for them to get their comeuppance if they cant get a win on the books. Where has Kayla Sparks been hiding? Seriously, the energy in the room CHANGED when that match happened. Looking forward to seeing where she goes next. The crowd was rough today. They fired up for certain things but they had a hard time maintaining that energy through the matches. That Skylar turn was great. Your matches to watch? RSP/Copeland, Adora/D’Amboise, Bayne/Davienne. Check it out when the replay hits IWTV!

Looking forward for Beyond and WWR+, their futures are going to be linked pretty hard next month. On 8/5, Beyond has “Dong Work for Yuta” featuring: Masha Slamovich vs Megan Bayne, Trish Adora vs Alec Price, Tony Deppen vs Willow Nightingale as well as Wheeler Yuta taking on Platinum Max Caster.

But that’s not all! WWR+’s next show with be a double header with  Beyond’s Americanrana on Sunday Aug 22nd. Booked for WWR+ will be Riley Shepard vs Little Mean Kathleen as well as Tina San Antonio, Damian Adams and Pedro Donez  vs Willow Nightingale + two partners of her choice. And of course, we’re getting the big fight: Megan Bayne vs Trish Adora! Later that day at Americanrana, a huge tag team match was announced of Masha Slamovich & Leyla Hirsch vs Jordynne Grace & Kimber Lee. Love it. Love it. Love it. I’ll be at these in August. Until then!
