LAST STOP BEFORE SLAMMIVERSARY: IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2021-07-15 22:00:00

Impact Wrestling opened with a look at everything that went down leading up to Slammiversary.

Kaleb with a K & Tenille Dashood vs. Jordynne Grace & Rachael Ellering

Kaleb stepped into the ring with Grace and dared her to have a test of strength, then hit a cheap shot.  Undaunted, Grace shoulderblocked him down.  She was sent into the corner but went up and over.  Tenille and Ellering tagged in but Dashwood slid out of the ring.  Grace and Ellering grabbed their opponents and tossed them back into the ring and nailed stereo spinebusters.

Ellering charged in the corner but Dashwood avoided it.  Ellering kicked her but was drilled and snapped off the ropes with a neckbreaker for a two count.  Dashwood covered her for a two count.  She and Kaleb whipped Ellering into the ropes but Ellering fought them off.  She went for a sunset flip and ended up pulling his tights down, revealing a cougar print set of boxers.  Ellering went to make a tag but Dashwood pulled Grace off the apron.  That left Ellering easy prey for Dashwood and Kaleb, who tagged in and out.    Grace finally was able to tag in and caught Kaleb with a sit-out running powerbomb for a two count but Dashwood broke up the pinfall.

Everyone battled.  Kaleb nailed Jordynne with a superkick.  Ellering nailed him with a Slingblade.  Dashwood clocked her with the Spotlight Kick.  Grace nailed a spinebuster.  Grace and Dashwood workd over Ellering but Grace nailed a dive through the ropes to take them out.  She tossed Kaleb back into the ring, where he nailed her.  Grace and Ellering finally doubleteamed Kaleb and scored the pin.

Your winners, Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering!

They aired a video feature on Sami Callihan vs. Kenny Omega at Slammiversary.

They aired a piece on Deonna Purrazzo's success as Knockouts Champion.

Backstage, Deonna Purrazzo was with Scott D'Amore and signed a contract for her Slammiversary PPV.  She tried to find out who the opponent was but D'more wouldn't budge.  He walked out.  Tommy Dreamer popped his head in and said that they haven't actually hired this person so good luck.  Purrazzo sat there steaming.

Impact Wrestling Knockouts Tag Team Champion Tasha Steelz vs. Havok

Impact sent out well wishes to Don West before the match.  AMEN.  Don, I think I speak for everyone when I say, we love you sir.  Get well soon.

Tasha stalled a lot but Rosemary was at ringside and she backed back into the ring out of fear, right back into Havok.  Havok throttled her and smashed her backwards into the turnbuckles.  She controlled the match until missing an Avalanche in the corner.  Steelz popped her with a neckbreaker.  Steelz stomped away on Havok, trying to wear her down in the corner.

Steelz followed up with a superkick.  She nailed a hip attack in the corner and snapmared Havok over.  Steelz charged with a kick to the face for another two count.  Steelz's facial expression when Havok kicked out was incredible.  If there is a talent today who always comes off "in the zone", it's Steelz.  She went for a chinlock but Havok fought her way out and wiped her out with a big blast to the face.

Havok nailed the Facewash in the corner and continued to clean house but Steelz kicked up at the last second.  Steelz went for a flying bodypress but was caught and tombstoned for the pin.

Your winner, Havok!

Smart finish leading into the PPV as it shows they could have the champs' number.

They aired some classic Ultimate X footage to build to the PPV.

They showed a video feature on Eddie Edwards vs. W. Morrisey at the PPV.

Backstage, Susan emerged from the room she went into last week.  Kimber Lee asked her how things went with Father James.  She said James has had a problem with summoning Su Yung.  Kimber asked her how she knew about Su Yung.  Susan said she's known all along before dragging a screaming Lee back into the room with a devious smile.  Ruh Roh Shaggy!

Maclin vs. Kal Herro

Hero is a regular with OVW and the son of long-time Mid-West wrestling promoter Dave Herro.  This is his Impact Wrestling debut.

It was all Maclin early on.  He whipped Herro into the ropes and drilled him with a harsh back elbow.  He began stomping away at Herro and then used his boot to smother Herro.

Herro was placed in the tree of woe, where Maclin began knocking him verbally.  He said Herro was dressed like an '80s jackass' before spearing him.  Herro collapsed into the ring where Maclin covered him for the pin, before pulling him up.  He said that Herro was going to quit, just like everyone quit on him.

Herro got a hope spot with a high cross bodyblock but Maclin popped up and wiped him out.  He nailed a series of elbows to the face and hit hit sit-down inverted powerbomb for the pin.

Your winner, Steve Maclin!

The build continues.

Maclin took the ring mic.  He said that the things that he's seen and done.  The worst thing someone can do is give him time to prepare and wait.  He said he's come to Impact pretty damn prepared and he's tired of waiting.

Backstage, Rosemary told Havok the key to victory is whether she walks into battle an outsider or "one of us" - Decay.  She said Jim Mitchell is here and he's the one person who can truly bond them leading battle.  Mitchell said he just barely escaped an encounter with the most wicked woman he's ever met.  Havok said she was ready.  They all walked off for whatever the ceremony is.

They aired a video piece on Sunday's X-Division title match.

Ace Austin & Rohit Raju & Shera & Madman Fulton vs. Chris Bwey & Trey Miguel & Petey Williams & Josh Alexander

Williams and Rohit started out, battling back and forth.  Rohit cut off Petey but was nailed with a kick and almost hit with the Canadian Destroyer.  Williams used a crucifix for a two count.  Alexander and Austin tagged in.  He grabbed a side headlock but was sent into the rope and shoulderblocked down.  Alexander went for the anklelock and but Ace slipped out and grabbed the ropes.  Miguel tagged in and nailed a sit-down jawbreaker.

Miguel mocked Fulton, then charged Austin who slipped out of the way and nailed a kick.  That sent Miguel stumbling into Fulton who snapped him on the ropes.  Fulton nailed a Snake Eyes and a bit boot.  Miguel barely kicked out.  Rohit tagged in and nailed several running clotheslines.  Shera tagged in and used his boot to smother Miguel in the corner.  Team Austin worked over Miguel, tagging in and out, but were unable to continue to put him down.

Bey finally made the hot tag and cleaned house on everyone.  Fulton snatched him for a big over the shoulder powerslam.  Alexander nailed a German suplex.  Rohit nailed a neckbreaker but was hit with a Canadian Destroyer.  Shera was caught by Bey with a schoolboy for the pin.

Your winners, Team Alexander!

Everyone began beating on Team Alexander.  Austin brought in a chair but Bey gained control and helped clean house, but then turned on his own partners before running off.  The idea was Bey was standing for himself and himself only.

Backstage, Brian Myers approached Hernandez.  He wanted to pay Hernandez off to help him out like the old days.  Hernandez said Swinger gave him a full-time job and turned it down.  Myers followed him down a hallway but saw someone in an open door.  He turned into the door and said that of all people, this person knows how terrible Matt Cardona is and asked him to have Myers' back tonight.  We never saw who it was.

Myers came to the ring and called out Jake Something after what happened last week.

Matt Cardona came out with Jake.  Myers said there was nothing professional about this.  Cardona told him to be a man of his word.  Myers said that he beat him fair and square, so he's a professional.  However, that doesn't mean he's ever going to be a star.  He started knocking Something for his appearance and said all he has going for him is his name, Something, because that's all he's going to be, Something.  They all started brawling.  Cardona avoided a DDT and nailed a Tomakaze.  He worked over Myers and said up for the Broski Boot but someone lowblowed him.  It was Tenille Dashwood, who at one point dated Cardona in real life.  They all put the boots to Cardona as Kaleb snapped away with photos.  One would think this means Chelsea Green is coming in.

Backstage, Matt Cardona said he met Brian Myers 18 years ago  and he's still the same loser he was 18 years ago.  Cardona said he wasn't going to look back but he will.  Scott D'Amore came to Cardona and said he was going to offer him a singles match against Cardona but instead offered him a mixed tag match.  He asked Cardona if he had a female partner he could find.  Cardona said he could.  Scott said, "It'll be a hot mess."

So, Chelsea Green is 100% returning Saturday.

They aired a video feature on Moose vs. Chris Sabin.

Moose vs. Hernandez with Johnny Swinger

They battled back and forth.  Moose went to the floor after a splash in the corner.  Hernandez followed and sent Moose into the guard rails on the floor.  He deposited Moose back into the ring and went for a powerbomb.  Moose escaped and drilled him with a big uranage, the speared Hernandez for the pin.

Your winner, Moose!

Moose grabbed a chair and went to Pillmanize his ankle but Chris Sabin hit the ring for the pin.  They battled.  Sabin nailed a pair of Dragon Screw Legwhips and tried to Pillmanize Sabin's ankle.

They aired a video feature on Sami Callihan vs. Kenny Omega at Slammiversary.  The match is now a No DQ bout.

D'Lo Brown and Josh Mathews recapped the lineup for this Saturday.

Doc Gallows vs. Joe Doering vs. Fallah Bahh vs. Willie Mack

Everyone battled at the same time in the ring.  Doering mauled Bahh.  Gallows and Mack battled.    Their respective partners are all at ringside.

They battled to the floor and back again.  Gallows slammed Mack with a big elbow for a two count.

Gallows went for another big elbow but Mack rolled out of the way.  Doering kicked Bahh in the head.  Doering dropped a big elbow on Mack on the floor.  Gallows worked over Bahh, who fired back.  The story was Gallows and Doering hadn't crossed paths yet.  Mack fired back on Doering, but was nailed by Gallows.  Gallows grabbed Doering but was nailed by Fallah.

Doering and Gallows battled back and forth in the ring, knocking each other to the floor.  Gallows charged but Doering moved and struck the ring post.  Doering nailed Gallows.

In the ring, Mack went for a bodypress but Fallah nailed a Samoan Drop.  Mack rolled to the floor.  Doering rolled through Fallah and nailed a big lariat for the pin.

Your winner, Joe Doering!

Gallows wanted to get his hands on Doering but Karl Anderson held him back.
