It's the go-home edition for Ring of Honor in preparations for tonight's Best in the World extravaganza. Quinn McKay is our host and we waste no time going to Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman, who have the call of tonight's action.
Joe Keys and Dante Caballero vs. Mark and Jay Briscoe
Prior to the match, Quinn caught up with Dante and Joe. They seem very un-confident. In fact, the only part of this they are confident about is their impending doom. Ian and Caprice remind us that Mark and Jay are all the way down at the bottom of the ROH tag team rankings. After last week's fight on the farm and seeing what they did to each other, I pity any man who gets in the ring with them.
Code of Honor adhered to. Mark with a go behind and some mat wrestling into a standing dropkick. Jay tags in and nails Keys with a running elbow. Mark tags in and hits an elbow after a Jay suplex. Mark with chops in the corner. Keys would be advised to tag out and soon. Jay tags in and the Briscoes with a double tackle. Jay with forearms but Keys with a desperation belly to back and makes the tag. Caballero comes in scoees a 1. He hits Jay with a knee and backbreaker for 1. Jay slips out of a body slam, hits a huancanrana on Caballero and tags in Mark, who goes to work on both opponents with Red Neck Kung Fu. Flying forearm on Caballero and a dropkick to Keys. Keys rolls out and Mark hits him with a dropkick. Jay with a running knee on the floor and throws Keys in. Briscoes hit the Redneck Boogie for 2. Jay hits Keys with neckbreaker and Mark hits the Froggy Bow for the pin.
WINNERS: Mark and Jay Briscoe
Flip Gordon vs. PJ Black
Great to see Black back in the ring since his injury. Brian Johnson has joined commentary. Quite frankly, Johnson is approaching MJF and Eddie Kingston territory in that you can't not listen to him when he speaks. Code of Honor adhered to and they lockup and immediately exchange holds and escapes. Another lockup and Flip with a rollup for 1. He goes for a single leg but Black makes the ropes. We're told that Flip will receive his ROH World Title shot in Philadelphia against the winner of Rush v Bandido. Flip with a right hand punch and chops in the corner. Pie face by Black and now it's his turn to nail some chops. Black with a headscissors sends Gordon to the outside. PJ with a dropkick to Gordon's back. Johnson is cheering on his mentor/Best in the World Tag Team partner (they meet the Briscoes on PPV).
Gordon ties Black up in the apron and lays the boots to him. Flips rolls him in and nails a forearm and a springboard dropkick. Superkick on the floor by Gordon as we head to commercial.
We're back and Gordon has a surfboard hold that he turns into a fisherman buster. Flip drives the boot into Blacks face. Johnson is furious that Ian and Caprice aren't hyping his match on the PPV. Black blocks a spinning DDT and nails a vertical suplex for 2. Black with a series of kicks and he sets up a Superplex. Gordon shoves him off but bounces right back into a hurancanrana and a moonsault for 2. Standing shooting star by Gordon for 2. Michinoku Driver by Black for 2, he made a very arrogant cover. Black kicks and slaps Gordon and we have a hard forearm exchange. Thunder Bomb by Gordon for 2. Gordon with an eye rake into a Flip Five. Gordon slaps on the STF and Black has to tap out.
WINNER: Flip Gordon
Gordon reapplies the STF and Brian Johnson, for probably the first time in his life, saves someone by running off Gordon. Johnson with a very loud warning for Flip and the Briscoes
Triple Threat Match: VLNCE UNLTD (Brody King and Tony Deppen) vs. The Foundation (Jonathan Gresham and Jay Lethal) vs La Faccion Ingobernoble (Kenny King and Dragon Lee)
WINNERS: Dragon Lee and Kenny King
See you all at Best in the World
