Kota Ibushi did not compete on the show due to suffering from the side effects of his first COVID-19 vaccine. Bushiroad founder Takaaki Kidani confirmed all company employees, including New Japan wrestlers, received their first COVID-19 vaccine on July 8.
El Desperado made his second successful defense of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Taiji Ishimori in the main event. After the match, a video aired of Robbie Eagles challenging Desperado for the title.
