This week's edition of Impact Wrestling on AXS TV opened up with a recap of everything that went down last week.
Brian Myers with Sam Beale vs. Jake Something
If Jake wins, Myers has to admit he is a professional.
It was all Something early as he trashed Myers around ringside. He tossed Myers into the ring. He followed Myers back in and clotheslined him over the top to the floor. Myers was able to take his leg out as the referee spoke to Something. Myers nailed a suplex on the ramp and rolled back into the ring, leaving Something to potentially being counted out.
Something returned to the ring at the six count but Myers was all over him and choked Jake against the ropes. As Myers argued with the referee, Sam Beale drilled Something. Myers locked him in a side headlock but Something fought his way out and nailed a big clothesline. Something smashed Myers to the mat with some big fists across the back. He nailed a sit-down powerbomb for a two count.
Something set up for a charge but was cut off with a superkick and a DDT for a close two count. Myers ascended to the top but Something drilled him with a big right hand. Myers shoved him down into the ring and nailed a flying elbowdrop for a CLOSE two count. Myers psyched himself up and charged but they countered each other until Jake nailed a Black Hole Slam and scored the clean pin.
Your winner, Jake Something!
Good back and forth bout.
Myers tried to leave but was prevented by Something. He took the mic and said he was sorry. He said there was something he needed to say, but Sam Beale attacked Something. They worked him over but Matt Cardona returned from "injury" and made the save. Myers ran off as Cardona hit Radio Silence on Beale. Not cool they didn't follow up with the stip.
Gia Miller interviewed Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo. She said Susan and Kimber Lee are pondering whether she'd be Knockouts Champion without them but she won the title without them. She can do it all on her own, forever. She is going to issue a challenge to anyone who thinks they can dethrone her.
After a commercial, Gia Miller tried to get a word from Sami Callihan. He said he usually doesn't do interviews, but he's in a good mood. In nine days, he's going to get in the ring with Kenny Omega. When asked what he was going to about the contract signing tonight, a deputy showed up with an arrest warrant for Callihan, claiming he had assaulted Don Callis. Callihan fought back but was taken into custody and dragged off. So, the idea is he may miss the contract signing.
Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo vs. Lady Frost.
They locked up with Purrazzo using her wrestling expertise to keep Frost off base. Frost showed some solid wrestling reversals early as well as some confidence. Purrazzo told her that she was impressive but then snapped and attacked Frost. Frost nailed a back elbow as Purrazzo charged. Frost nailed a kick and went for a moonsault, but Purrazzo moved out of the way.
Frost hurt her ankles and Purrazzo attacked her but pulled Frost up at two, locking her in armbar to show that she can do so. Frost tapped.
Your winner, Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo!
Short but sweet. Frost showed a lot of potential.
Purrazzo took the mic and thanked Frost for coming but said she was just another building block in the Foundation Purrazzo is building. She claimed to be the best Knockout of all time, which brought Gail Kim out. Purrazzo told her that she respects Kim and that it was a pleasure to stand in the ring with her. She has respect for Kim but she expects the respect to go both ways and Kim doesn't get to interrupt her. Kim said she's watched Purrazzo develop into the face of the Knockouts division and is here to talk about Slammiversary. Purrazzo laughed and said she accepts, thinking Kim was there to challenge her. Kim said she is retired and has nothing to prove but Deonna has something to prove. Deonna agreed. Kim said she's going to come to the ring at Slammiversary and face a mystery opponent at Slammiversary. She won't know who her opponent is until that night. She better be prepared for the fight of her life. The way they built this up, they will need a major name revealed to live up to that hype. The idea was that even Purrazzo was worried.
The flashback moment was Angelina Love vs. Mickie James, which should get people thinking it could be James at the PPV.
At Swinger's Palace, Chris Sabin arrived but the tables weren't open because Swinger had secret business. Moose attacked Sabin. Hernandez tried to break it up but was nailed as well. Moose told Sabin that if he wanted he wanted him at Slammiversary, that night he finds out why Moose is a wrestling God. Moose stormed off.
They showed the footage of Chris Bey picking a side. Bey was interviewed and said he picked a side, his side. The others just happened to be standing on it.
W. Morrisey vs. Jason Page, Deonte Evans and Manny Smith - Handicap match
Morrisey took the mic. He said that Eddie Edwards challenged him to a match at Slammiversary. He accepts. He said Edwards is in a hospital bed and might need Morrisey's help. He's going to help him prepare. He's not going to show him respect. He's going to demonstrate and show Eddie what's going to happen to him at the PPV.
They rang the bell and Morrisey killed them all with clotheslines. Morrissey controlled the ring and chokeslammed Martin. He powerbombed Jason Page with authority. He picked up and dumped them, then stacked them atop of each other. He stepped atop of them for the pin.
Your winner, W. Morrisey!
An old school but effective way to put over Morrisey as a monster.
They aired a video piece on the Knockouts division.
Gia Miller interviewed Don Callis. He said he was the victim of a felonious assault at the hands of a professional wrestler. He's been told it will take him time to recover. He has provided footage to the production truck at the advice of his victim's counselor. He showed footage of someone dressed as Callihan hitting Callis with a worked punch.
Scott D'Amore showed up and said it's an unfortunate situation. He said Sami has been taken away but since Kenny Omega is here, they can still hold the contract signing. Scott said there is going to be a main event at Slammiversary, so Callis should humor him and walked off.
Number One Contender's Bout: Susan & Kimber Lee vs. Rosemary & Havok
The winners will be the top contenders to the Knockouts Tag Team Champions. Tasha Steelz and Kiera Hogan.
Susan and Rosemary started the bout. Rosemary psyched her out and worked her over early on. Havok tagged in and they drilled her in stereo with clotheslines. Lee tagged in and tried to nail a series of shots on Havok but was slammed to the mat and flipped across the ring back and forth. Lee was hit with an Avalanche in the corner. Rosemary tagged in but had her face raked. Lee nailed a buzzsaw kick to the head for a two count.
Lee grabbed her leg and worked it over on the mat, trying to force a submission. Rosemary bit her to break it up. Susan tagged in and took control. She smashed Rosemary into the buckles. Lee and Susan tagged in and out working over Rosemary. They flubbed a doubleteam maneuver, allowing Havok to tag in. She cleaned house but missed a Facewash in the corner when Susan moved. Susan was sent into Lee, who was sent to the floor.
Rosemary and Havok nailed a Hart Attack and scored the pin.
Your winners, Havok and Rosemary!
The latest edition of "All About Me" with Tenilla Dashwood and Kaleb with A K. Jazz was the "host" this week. They all awkwardly looked at each other. Jazz didn't seem to understand they wanted her to ask Dashwood a question. Dashwood complained that she feels betrayed. She's been looking for a perfect partner and it doesn't go well and it's not her fault none of them clicked. She blamed Jazz, who went to walk off. Dashwood told her she was going to quit, just like she did her career. Jazz confronted her and Dashwood backed off, then attacked her from behind when Jazz turned to leave. Jazz hit the camera, which went black.
When they returned from commercial, Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering were checking on Jazz. She said she got set up by Tenille. They said they will go find them. They went to a promo with Grace and Ellering knocking them for attacking and messing with Jazz. They tried to create seeds of dissent between them but they are on the same page again. They have goals as a team and next week, they are going to take out Kaleb and Tenille.
Rich Swann and Willie Mack made their way to the ring.
Swann said they are about being men but there's a team in the back that decided to get into their business. They thought they could take the easy way out, Violent by Design. If they want to attack them from behind, that's fine, but they are giving them a chance to come down and get their teeth knocked down their throat. Instead, out came TJP and Fallah Bahh. He said they see two wrestlers with a common enemy - Violent by Design. They all have a score to settle but they aren't going to let Swann and Mack pass them by for a shot at the titles. They told Swann and Mack to go to the back of the life. Mack pointed out they were the number one contenders when Swann got hurt. Bahh said that he's pretty sure there's an expiration date on that.
Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions Violent by Design made their way to the ring. Everyone faced off but before anything could get physical, out came the Good Brothers. They declared they would once again be the champions. They entered the ring but Tommy Dreamer came out and announced they would all face at Slammiversary for the Tag Team Titles.
He then announced Deaner vs. Karl Anderson vs. TJP vs. Rich Swann for after the commercial break.
Everyone brawled and battled. Swann nailed a leaping shoulderblock on Anderson. TJP and Swann locked up. They go back and forth with some nice action. He drilled Swann with a series of kicks to the face but Swann blocked the Facewash. He got control on TJP but was attacked by Deaner. He stomped away on Swann and sent him into the ropes, nailing a double back elbow. Swann fired back with punches. Deaner rolled through a sunset flip attempt and nailed a nice powerslam. TJP attacked and caught him with a series of kicks. Deaner set him up in the corner, trapping his neck, and nailed a dropkick. He ran TJP into the buckles.
Deaner tossed him into the ropes but TJP caught himself in the ropes. Deaner charged and TJP moved, sending Deaner out to the floor. He then tossed Anderson to the floor. Swann kicked TJP to the floor, then hit a twisting press to the floor on everyone. After a commercial break, Swann dropped a legdrop on Deaner. Deaner tried to forge an alliance with Anderson but they immediately went back and forth attacking them other. They went into a series of big moves on each other. Anderson eats a spinkick from TJP and nailed with a big facewash. He went for the Detonation Kick but Anderson fought it off. TJP finally nailed it. He went for the Mamba Splash on Deaner but missed. Swann hit the ring and nailed TJP but Deaner snapped him with a DDT for a two count when TJP interfered.
Deaner was hit with the Gun Stun and was pinned by Anderson.
Your winner, Karl Anderson!
The teams all faced off after.
Backstage, Kimber Lee told Susan that if they lost, they had a backup plan. James Mitchell came out and invited them into his lair. He asked Lee if she was sure she wanted to do this. She did. He said he was a man of the cloth and she should trust him.
The main event segment was the contract signing for Kenny Omega vs. Sami Callihan for Slammiversary. Scott D'Amore presided over the proceedings, noting that Callihan was not there but he had no reason to not believe Callihan would make it to the PPV. He introduced Omega and Don Callis.
Callis came out and said he was a victim. They have a champion but no challenger because Callihan just had his strike #8. He said the money was here. D'Amore said they had the contract. Callis said it was vetted already. Omega signed it.
Someone hacked in and had seucrity footage of the Callis being attacked. It turned out it was John E. Bravo dressed as Sami and Johnny Swinger was the one filming. Now we know where Swinger was when they said he had closed the casino for some secret business.
With that revealed, Callihan hacked his way into the ring, wielding a baseball bat. He nailed Omega with it and chased Callis from the ring. Omega attacked Callihan and nailed him with the Impact title belt. Omega was going to go for a piledriver when Callihan nailed him with a low blow. Callihan nailed the piledriver on Omega, signed the contract and went to leave the ring. Callihan thought better of it and powerbombed Omega through the table.
That's all this week!
