It's Wednesday Night, and you know what that means. We are LIVE and on the road for AEW Dynamite. It feels so odd not being at Daley's Place but, slowly but surely, the world is returning to normal. Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross and Excalibur have the call of the action for AEW Dynamite. It's Road Rager and we've championship action headed our way. We are kicking things off hot.
South Beach Strap Match: Cody Rhodes w/Arn Anderson vs. QT Marshall
This is a touch-the-corners strap match. QT is already in the ring. That's not good. Tope suicida by Cody as QT was talking to Nick Comoroto and Aron Solow. Uppercut by Cody, he fires away and chokes QT with the strap. Cody slingshots QT into the ropes and hits a powerslam. Amanda Nunes is in the crowd. QT with a back kick but misses a moonsault as Cody whips him on the rotation. Cody goes for the corners but Solow stops him. Here comes Dustin Rhodes to counter him. Low blow by QT as Solow and Dustin fight through the crowd. QT with lashes to Cody and he chokes him and touches the corners. Cody is also touching corners but a QT back suplex breaks the momentum.
QT kicks Cody from the ring and ties to ram Cody into the post. Cody counters it and re enters the ring. QT is busted wide open as Cody tries to touch the corners. The lights go out but it looks to be a weather related issue as nothing happened when they came back. QT stops the momentum and whips Cody with the strap. QT to the top rope but Cody with forearms and he chokes him out. Cody goes for a rana but QT with a powerbomb to counter it. QT goes for the corners and hits 2. QT wraps up Cody and sets him up on the corner and hits the Diamond Cutter. QT gets three corner touches but Cody stops #4. QT whips him but Cody doesn't register. Cody with a clothesline, pump kick and a headscissors and now it's Cody whipping QT incessantly. Cody cutter and Arn says it's time to go home. Cody with 3 Cross Rhodes in a tow and he easily hits all 4 corners for the win.
WINNER: Cody Rhodes
We see highlights of MJF vs. Sammy Guevara from last week. Earlier today, Shawn Spears was backstage talking trash but Sammy showed up with a vengeance and nailed the Chariman with a chair.
Tony Schiavone brings out the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega with Don Callis. I miss the dancing girls. Callis is an awesome mouthpiece. There, I said it. Callis ejects Tony from the ring. Miami reminds Callis that he got fired form Impact Wrestling. Callis declares Omega the God of Pro Wrestling. They're somewhat sad that there's no challenger for Fight for the Fallen. Miami wants Hangman and here comes the Dark Order, led by Evil Uno. He wants to know why Omega is ignoring Adam Page, the people of Miami. The crowd wants Page BADLY. Omega asks him what the capital of Thailand is. Even I saw this coming. Here comes the Good Brothers to attack the Dark Order but, you guessed it, Hangman Page makes the save. Page teases a Buckshot but instead goes face to face with the champ. Omega bails. I'd say this constitutes a challenge.
Jim Ross is with Darby Allin and Ethan Page in a pre recorded interview. Allin talks about his rookie year being Ethan's 12th. He says Ethan is jealous and never aspired higher while Allin chose homelessness. Page runs Allin down as he plucked Allin from obscurity and made him a star, teaching him everything he knows. The coffin match will be next week.
FTR and Wardlow w/Tully Blanchard vs. Santana, Ortiz and Jake Hager w/Konnan
I'd like to say I can keep up, but this looks like Bullet Point City to me:
WINNERS: FTR and Wardlow
Konnan attacks Wardlow but Tully with a chop block. The pinnacle bails
IWGP U.S. Title match next week as Karl Anderson challenges Jon Moxley.
MJF comes out for his face to face with Chris Jericho
On an aside, I've thoroughly enjoyed "The List of Jericho"
MJF wants the music cut. They sit on opposite sides of the table. It's time to find out the stipulations/MJF demands. Jericho says he'll do anything, including sex with MJF's mother...again. MJF says that Karma sucks and he loves Greek Mythology. Jericho must go through the labors ot Hercules. Jericho must beat 4 opponents of MJF's choosing. I was hoping for 10 lashings because that was awesome. Jericho accepts whatever MJF wants. Jericho signs the contract sight unseen and MJF channels his inner Calvin Candie and insists on a handshake. Jericho with a Judas Effect as we go to commercial.
Dr Britt Baker joins Tony and calls Nyla a menace to society. Tony Khan should feel awful about Reba's injury. In 2 weeks, Baker meets Rose for the AEW World Women's Title.
Andrade El Idolo w/Vickie Guerrero vs. Matt Sydal
Lockup, arm twist by Andrade. Hammerlock by Sydal, he rolls up Anfrade. Andrade with a twisting brainbuster and Sydal fights back immediately. Andrade with a moonsault for 2. Sydal with a mariposa. Sunset but Andrade for 2. Sydal wtih leg kicks and he goes to the ropes but gets knocked to the floor as we go to commercial.
We're back and Andrade has the edge in the ring. He whips Sydal into the corner but Sydal with a leg lariat. A series of kicks by Sydal he rolls up Andrade for 2. Knee strike by Sydal. Andrade with a kick and he climbs the ropes and he tries a stomp but a Meteora by Sydal for 1. Beil into the corner by Andrade followed by a double knee in the corner. Hammerlock DDT by El Idolo for the pin.
WINNER: Andrade El Idolo
Idolo with an armbreaker after the bell.
We are treated to a video package of the history between Christian Cage and Matt Hardy. They meet at Fyter Fest Night 1.
Tony Schiavone is with Arn Anderson in the ring. Arn is happy tp be in Miami. The lights go out. TOMMY END is in the ring and kicks Arn in the face. Here comes Cody and he hits the Back Mass and leaves Cody and Arn laying. This is very cool, if you ask me. End slowly leaves the ring. They're calling him Malakai Black.
Ricky Starks commandeered the ring earlier in the night. He doesn't trust Brian Cage. Taz is not happy that Starks has private security. Cage came out and laid out Starks' security.
Mixed Tag Team: The Bunny and The Blade vs. Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander
Referee Aubrey Edwards finds brass knucks on Blade. Cassidy does his kick rountine on Bunny but Blade comes in. Drop kick by Cassidy but Blade with a powerslam. Slumdog millionaire by Cassidy and here come the women. Bunny with a kneelift but Statlander with a powerslam. The Alien with chops and a vertical suplex, she misses a senton and a punch by Bunny to the back of the head as we go to commercial.
We're back and Statlander with a Michinoku Driver for 1. She goes for a moonsault but Bunny with a German off the rope. Statlander and Blade face off but Cassidy with a DDT for 2. Statlander attacks on the apron and hits a 450 on Blade. Bunny pulls Cassidy out of the ring. Blade puts on a 2nd pair of brass knux and knocks out Cassidy. We see highlights of Jungle Boy scoring his AEW-best 50th win.
Tony is at ringside with Amanda Nunes, and American Top Team leader Jorge Masvidal. Their hype guy runs down AEW (no idea who he is) and says they suck. Who is this guy? He knows his Florida wrestling history, I'll give him that. TNT is giving this guy TV time and he says that AEW SUCKS. WHY, WHY are you giving this guy TV time. Amanda Nunes is cheering him on. THEIR GUEST IS RUNNING DOWN THE COMPANY! Lance Archer comes out about 2 minutes too late and lays him out. Dear lord what was this?
