COMPLETE AEW DYNAMITE BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2021-06-30 19:58:00

It's the last Wednesday night as Daily's Place in Jacksonville FL after 60 weeks there for AEW Dynamite. Our announcers are Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Chris Jericho. Jericho comes out to his team and they let him take the entire song to get from the entrance ramp to the announcer's table.

Young Bucks (Tag Team Champions) vs Penta El Zero Miero and Eddie Kingston, if Penta and Eddie win, they get a title shot

The Bucks are sporting mustaches, and they take some punishment as the match starts, but it quickly becomes them keeping Penta in the ring. The match should be a clash of Eddie and Penta's styles against the Bucks, since Eddie is a brawler and Penta can match the Bucks high flying style. When Eddie tags in, he gets a flurry of offense until the Bucks are able to stop him and do the same thing to him.

When Eddie starts his comeback, his facial expression is that of a man who is looking forward to having fun, and it's intimidating as any sort of threat. Once Penta tags in, the style of the match changes as it becomes the sort of superfast high spot match we expect from the Bucks, just with them selling for him. Penta gets a near fall so close the crowd gets on the ref chanting That Was Three.

From here, we start getting near falls and the Good Brothers coming to the ring. They try to distract the ref so that Brandon Cutler can use the cold spray, but Penta dodges so that Matt takes the spray. Frankie Kazarian comes out and takes out Brandon, and as all of those guys are brawling outside the ring, Penta is able to nail Matt with a package piledriver, Eddie guards the ring and Penta covers for te three count.

Your winners: Penta and Eddie Kingston who now get a title match

A fast paced 20 minute opener with the stories of Frankie hunting the Elite, Brandon Cutler doing everything wrong, and the Good Brothers showing up to do...nothing that matters. Good way to welcome viewers back to Dynamite on Wednesday

We then get a tapes segment in the back where Christian Cage talks to Jungle Boy about how well he did Saturday, and how he may make it to 50 wins tonight. Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt show up to thank him, and they bond over Jungle Boy being able to get someone else to do his promo for him again.

We come back from commercial with Tony Schiavone asking Ethan Page why he challenged Darby Allin to a coffin match. Scorpio Sky is in the ring with him. The crowd is booing Page out of the building and he can't concentrate enough to talk until he tells them to shut up. He says that he wants to Eliminate Allin, and goes over all of the ways he's tried to injure him. Trying to cripple him physically hasn't worked, so the coffin match will cripple him emotionally. It will mean that when Allin does a coffin drop, he will think of Page nailing him in a coffin.

The lights go out and Sting's music plays. Sting comes out with a coffin on wheels and and we get footage of Allin with a flame thrower. Darby comes out of the coffin and attacks Page, and Sting takes out Sky with a scorpion death drop.

Security pulls Allin off Page and he grabs a mic and says that the match next week is off. Page wants a contract that Allin cannot touch him until they fight at Fyter Fest now.

Jericho plugs his book before we get a video recap of the match between Kenny Omega and Jungle Boy on Saturday.

Jack Evans vs Jungle Boy

Matt Hardy has an insert says that he was ready to end Christian Cage's career before Jungle Boy interfered, so now he wants Evans to take him out, win or lose.

Jericho says he doesn't like the crowd singing with the theme song business that Jungle Boy gets.

They start with chain wrestling and a series of covers. Jungle Boy has the upper hand, but as they go to the small screen, Evans is able to get the upper hand and he maintains it through the commercial. We come back to JB asserting control and then locking in the snare trap and Page taps out.

Your winner: Jungle Boy

Hardy's group comes out and they are cut off by Luchasaurus, Stunt and Cage, and Cage and Hardy brawl in the ring. Hardy retreats and Page comes in to take a few punches and being tossed from the ring as well.

JB is the first person to reach the 50 win mark in AEW.

We go to a pre=tape with MJF talking about how he has dethroned Jericho and he gives a smarmy attack where he goes over how Jericho has pretty much beaten him down on every episode of Dynamite. He says that Jericho is now a joke. MJF asks how low Jericho is willing to stoop and he will offer Jericho stipulations for one final match between them. He then says he will take out his anger on Sammy Guevara.

He says that people will say Sammy is the future because he is the now!

We then get Andrade El Idolo where he announces he will face Matt Sydal in Miami.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to interview Kenny Omega. Kenny has shaved to the old “Sideburns connected to a mustache” facial hair that HHH used to have and bring down only one belt. Kenny says that Tony asked him a question earlier today to set up his promo, and Tony says he didn't ask him anything. Kenny ignores him and puts over how important Jungle Boy is, and he defeated him. Kenny says he will be taking time off since there is no one left for him to face.

Evil Uno and the Dark Order come to the ring, and Uno thinks differently. Kenny says that 5 wouldn't last five minutes in the ring with me, and they aren't even ranked. Uno says he's right, and none of them have enough singles wins to go against him, but they know someone who does. The corwd chants for Adam Page, and Kenny says whoever he is talking about, he wouldn't appreciate him talking about him and he doesn't have the guts to face Kenny Omega. Kenny wishes them good bye and good night.

We get Brian Pillman Jr has a pre-taped interview where he says he didn't have family, he had friends like Griff Garrison, who Miro attacked. He says that Miro is a bully and a big Bulgarian bitch.

Miro (TNT Champion) vs. Brian Pillman Jr.

Miro is now calling himself The Redeemer on the big screen for his entrance.

Miro takes control early and just starts hitting power moves on Pillman, who is gonna be taking the beatdown as we quickly go to picture in picture. The announcers said it best, this is just a meat and potatoes match with Miro as the stronger champion. Pillman gets a flurry of offense when we back from the commercial, and dominates when they brawl outside the ring. The crowd is cheering on Pillman until Miro is able to hit a spin kick and take control and slap on Game Over until Pillman passes out.

Your winner and still TNT champion, Miro

Miro is still being pushed as a monster, and while Pillman got some offense, it was still clear that Miro is a level above him, as it should be. Pillman is on his way up, but Miro still needs to build a series of dominating wins.

Alex Marvez is with the Dark Order and Adam Page, and Page asked why they did something stupid like making his challenge. Each member of the Dark Order build him up and encourage him to go for it. They leave him with his drink to think about it.

We then get a Breaking News segment from Taz and his team. Brian Cage and Ricky Starks are not there, and Taz says it's been toxic because of them. On July 14th, Cage will defend the FTW championship against Ricky Starks.

Wait, why is Tay Conti on Dark and not on my TV tonight?

Nyla Rosa and Vickie Guerrero vs Britt Baker and Reba

Vickie takes a shot to the jaw from Baker before the bell and Reba gets to take a beating from Nyla Rose. Baker refuses the tag because the point of the match was to beat up Baker before tht eitle match next week. Vickie tags in and they go to picture in picture.

OH NO, THE MAT CLASSIC BETWEEN NICKIE AND REBEL IS ON THE SMALL SCREEN. THIS IS WILL BE LIKE OKADA/OMEGA!

No, Nyla tags in and get back to dominating Reba. I was looking forward to Vickie's chain wrestling skills. When we go big screen, the crowd is silent and Baker finally tags in. Baker chops her down, put on the glove and walks into a slam. Vickie tags in and motions for Rose to go to the top. Baker knocks Vickie into Rose, who falls the floor and Baker slaps on the Lock Jaw and Vickie taps out.

Your winners, Britt Baker and Reba

Nyla attacks Baker after the match and Vickie motions toward the table that was set up at ringside on the small screen. Rose tosses her through the table. Remember when JR said he exected something underhanded? Well, I guess that's your payoff for that.

The announcers run down next week's card, the first card on the road.

We get a promo with Jake Hager, Santana and Ortiz to build up the Inner Circle vs Pinnacle match next week. Nothing new in the promo other than announcing Konnan will be in their corner.

Fast paced show tonight, with no dull moments and the matches have all done what they are supposed to and it's time for the main event.

MJF vs Sammy Guevara

Both men come out alone. Tony praising Sammy makes me laugh after all of the vitriol he used to hurl at him.

Nice sequence at the start of the match with running the ropes and then mocking each other. They then try to get quick pins with rollups and missed finishers. Sammy then starts going for high flying moves with MJF doing what he can to stop the assault. Really good use of each man trying to get the upper hand, and the other able to cut them off or survive to come back as we go to the picture in picture. MJF is able to keep control through the commercials.

As we come back, it seems that each of them has a counter for the other's moves, and MJF is nominally in control of the fight. After a Spanish Fly, Sammy takes control and speeds up the pace and the crowd has woken up and is hot for Sammy. Sammy is able to his a destroyer that looks brutal due to his speed. MJF os able to record and starts working Sammy's arm for his finisher.

MJF gets knocked into the crowd and Sammy leaps from the turnbuckle onto MJF in the crowd. The announcers put over that they are returnign to the road and you need to be there for this kind of action. When they get back to the ring, MJF is abel to take control and hits a pile driver from the second turnbuckle, but Sammy kicks out. MJF seems to have a knee injury and is unable to stand up after the move.

The match goes on with each going for covers. Soon, Sammy is in control and MJF is able to get out of pins with getting a foot on the rope or barely able to kick out. When Sammy goes to the top, MJF begs for mercy, which is not given. Shawn Spears comes to the ring and as Jericho goes to stop him, Wardlow takes Jericho out. Spears nails Sammy with a chair and MJF covers for the win.

Your winner: MJF

Great match with the story being that each man knew the other's game plan and being able to counter it until The Pinnacle is able to cheat to win.

We then get a video tribute to the time to Daily's Place with clips of the moments from the time there.
