AAA TRIPLEMANIA PRESS CONFERENCE RECAP

Lucha Libre AAA World Wide held a press conference today to announce the full card for its Triplemanía XXIX show on August 14 in Arena Ciudad de México.

AAA’s Marvel-themed wrestlers will compete at the show, although the identities of the wrestlers have not been revealed. At Triplemanía XXVIII last year, Terror Púrpura (Thanos played by Taurus) and Venenoide (Venom played by Brian Cage) defeated Aracno (Spider-Man played by Lio Rush) and Leyenda Americana (Captain America played by Daga).

The annual Copa TripleManía match will take place, but it has been renamed to the Copa Bardahl. Bardahl, an automotive manufacturer, is sponsoring the show. Drago, Mamba and Mr. Iguana announced their participation in the match during today’s press conference.

Fénix and Pentagón Jr. will defend the AAA World Tag Team Championships in a three-way tag team match against El Hijo del Vikingo and Laredo Kid as well as Taurus and a mystery partner.

Chessman, Pagano and Murder Clown will face La Empresa’s Puma King and two mystery partners. Chessman and Pagano, who faced each other in a hair-versus-hair match at Triplemanía XXVIII last year, nearly came to blows at the press conference until King and two hooded figures launched a surprise attack on their opponents.

Seemingly, these announcements round out the card for Triplemanía XXIX with seven matches. Three matches had already been announced for the show before today’s press conference: Kenny Omega attempting his fifth defense of the AAA Mega Championship against former WWE star Andrade, Impact Knockouts Championship holder Deonna Purrazzo facing AAA Reina de Reinas Championship holder Faby Apache in a title-versus-title match and Psycho Clown versus Rey Escorpión in a hair-versus-mask match

Attendance at the show will be capped at 25 per cent of the venue’s capacity.

In what could prove to be a total coincidence, Jade Cargill posted on Twitter about how much she enjoyed living in Mexico City just minutes after today’s press conference was scheduled to start. The press conference was delayed by over half an hour, but the timing of Cargill’s post might be a hint towards her participation at the show.
