Sakazaki will leave Japan after her match against Suzume at TJPW’s show on July 1 in Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. She is scheduled to return to TJPW at its show on August 14 in Korakuen Hall.
Sakazaki’s last match in AEW in America was February 2020 before the start of the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic. She did, however, compete in the AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament which was taped in Japan and aired on YouTube throughout February. She advanced to the tournament final before losing to Ryo Mizunami.
Sakazaki recently unsuccessfully challenged Miyu Yamashita for the Princess of Princess Championship at the CyberFight Festival on June 6.
Sakazaki is the third wrestler signed to a wrestling company owned by CyberFight – DDT Pro-Wrestling, Ganbare Pro, Pro Wrestling NOAH and TJPW – to be sent to AEW on excursion throughout the pandemic. TJPW’s Maki Itoh made appearances in February and March and DDT’s Konosuke Takeshita made appearances in April.
