TWO MORE COMPETITORS NAMED TO ROH WOMEN'S WORLD TITLE TOURNAMENT

Ring of Honor announced the following:

VETERANS MANDY LEON, NICOLE SAVOY RECEIVE TICKETS TO GOLD

Two accomplished competitors with contrasting attitudes were granted entry to the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament taking place this summer.

The Allure’s Mandy Leon, a cornerstone of the ROH women’s division, and Nicole Savoy, a fan favorite who has experience in ROH, received their tickets to gold from ROH Board of Directors member Maria Kanellis-Benett on this week’s episode of Women’s Division Wednesday on YouTube.

Leon, a graduate of the ROH Dojo, has competed in ROH since 2014 and also has wrestled for Stardom in Japan. “The Exotic Goddess” joins her partner in The Allure, Angelina Love, in the tournament.

Kanellis-Bennett has had her issues with The Allure, but she put them aside because she believes Leon deserves to be in the tournament due to her talent and longevity.

Leon wasn’t nearly as gracious as Kanellis-Bennett was during the Zoom call when she was given her ticket to gold.

“I mean, obviously,” Leon said after Kanellis-Bennett told her she was in the tournament. “You called me to say you had good news. But I already knew I was in the tournament. So what’s the good news?”

Savoy had a much different reaction during her Zoom call with Kanellis-Bennett. “The Queen of Suplexes” was overjoyed to be invited to compete in the tournament, especially when she was told that the ROH fans had demanded it.

Savoy, a 10-year veteran who held the Shimmer Title for a record 721 days in 2017-2019, has competed in several matches in ROH. She made her ROH debut in 2019 by defeating former Women of Honor World Champion Sumie Sakai, and she beat seven-time former world champion Love last year.

“When I first started there it definitely made me want to step my game up,” Savoy said. “I would go back to training and be like, ‘All right, I gotta work on some more stuff, let’s go. Ring of Honor definitely made me want to push myself.”

In addition to Leon, Savoy and Love, the participants previously announced for the tournament are: Allysin Kay, Vita VonStarr, Rok-C, Miranda Alize, Trish Adora, Mazzerati and Willow.
