SOMEONE'S FIRED BUT IT'S NOT CALLIHAN: IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2021-06-17 22:00:00

This week's episode of Impact Wrestling on AXS featured highlights of everything on Against All Odds over the weekend.

Outside of Scott D'Amore's office, Gia Miller attempted to ask for clarity on the Sami Callihan situation.  Scott didn't answer but Moose showed up pounded on the door.  Moose said he deserves a rematch at Slammiversary.  Scott said Moose has every right to be upset but he's not the only one.  Sami Callihan is upset after Don Callis fired him and now Anthem is sending someone from their board to show up and deal with the mess left after the PPV.  He said in all the years he's been running the company this has never happened.  Scott promised it would all get settled.  He doesn't know how but it'll get settled.  Scott told Moose to wait as he doesn't have time to deal with him right now.  He closed the door.  Moose said he'll make the time and walked off.

TJP with Fallah Bahh vs. Black Taurus with Crazzy Steve

They locked up with Taurus working over TJP's arm.  Taurus reversed and trapped him in a head scissors but TJP escaped and nailed a dropkick.  They exchanged armdrags and went back and forth before facing off.  They locked up again with TJP backing Taurus in the corner.   He used his boot to work over Taurus, who came back with a big headbutt.  Taurus worked over TJP, who tried to fight back.  Taurus scored several two counts.  He captured TJP in a Torture Rack variant and slammed him for a two count.

TJP nailed several aerial moves to take Taurus off his feet.  TJP nailed the Facewash.  Taurus went to the floor.  Steve and Fallah came near him.  TJP nailed a dive to the floor on everyone.  He tossed Taurus in and scored the pin with the Mamba Splash.

Your winner, TJP!

Moose attacked everyone and cleared the ring.  He grabbed a chair and sat down in the ring.  He told Scott D'Amore that if he didn't have time for Moose after Moose was screwed by Kenny Omega, he was hijack the show again and make Scott have time for him.  Several security guards came down to ringside but Moose warned them not to step into the ring because he will hurt them.  He said they aren't Scott and he wants Scott.  Out of nowhere, Chris Sabin came from the crowd and nailed a missile dropkick on Moose, then smashed him over the head with a chair.  Moose rolled to the outside, where Sabin said he didn't need to worry about Scott, because Sabin was looking for a fight.  He challenged Moose to a fight right now.  Moose went to the back.  This was Sabin's return after Moose "took him out" a few weeks back.

Backstage, a camera caught Rohit Raju complaining about the Ultimate X match.  He and Ace Austin went back and forth arguing.  Austin said that Madman Fulton wasn't going to apologize so he will.  He said Rohit was collateral damage but if they can get on the same page, they can level the playing field at Ultimate X and then it can be a fair fight between them.  Raju said it makes sense.  Raju said he's not the only one with an Ace up his sleeve and this can get even better.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviewed Chris Sabin.  He asked if Moose thinks he can hurt people and hijack the show without consequences.  He said if Moose doesn't want to fight him, he'll challenge him to a fight at Slammiversary.  Good promo from Sabin.

D'Lo Brown and Josh Mathews said they are waiting for an answer on Sami Callihan's true status.

Impact Wrestling X-Division Champion Josh Alexander vs. Madman Fulton with Ace Austin.

Alexander used his speed early to avoid Fulton.  He sent Fulton to the outside but was snatched out of the ring and sent into the ring post, then kicked hard on the floor.  After a commercial break, Fulton remained in control, beating down Alexander with a series of stiff shots.  Fulton continued to pummel Alexander.  Alexander finally slips out of a power move and drilled Fulton with kicks to the leg.  Fulton flung him into the corner but Alexander fought him off and nailed a knee to the back of the head.  Fulton rebounded but was snatched with a delayed suplex for another two count.  Alexander went for the Jay-Driller but Fulton backdropped him over.  Alexander went for anklelock.  Fulton escaped but was snatched in the Jay-Driller for the pin.

Your winner, Josh Alexander!

Austin, who was trying to break up the pinfall, attacked Alexander and beat him down in the ring.

Austin drove him to the mat and went for The Fold but Petey Williams hit the scene.  They battled on the apron.  Williams nailed a Codebreaker and went for the Canadian Destroyer but Rohit Raju hit the ropes and nailed a buzzsaw kick to the head.  Trey Miguel hit the scene and cleaned house but Mahabali Shera attacked Miguel, then destroyed Williams.  He and Alexander fought but Shera nailed a chokeslam over the knee.

The idea is Austin and Raju have aligned alongside their respective muscle.

Backstage, the camera caught Deonna Purrazzo was razzing Kimber Lee and Susan, telling them that she told them they needed to prove themselves at the PPV.  She said she was done with them both and told them to get out of her sight.

W. Morrisey was interviewed backstage.  He said that TJP tonight and Kojima at the PPV had someone watching their back but it didn't work out well for them.  He said they are all deluded into thinking they have friends backing them but the only person he can trust is himself.

Steve Maclin vs. Jason Page

The announcers noted Maclin refused to speak to them earlier today.  He was all over Page, beating him down and showed some aggression with a big elbow off the ropes.  He drilled Page with a big knee to the mid-section, then suplexed and dropped him into the corner.  Maclin kept working over Page, who fired back but was killed with a clothesline.  He began beating Page with a series of rapid-fire elbows to the head and neck.  He nailed an inverted suplex into a slam for the pin.

Your winner, Steve Maclin!

A good 1980s style one-sided squash.  Maclin showed some good old school heel intensity.

Backstage, the secret camera caught Rachael Ellering asked Jordynne Grace to be in her corner despite them being upset about not getting the Knockouts Tag Team titles.  Grace said that she's been trying to get those titles since before Ellering came to Impact but everyone thinks the only reason they won them was Ellering.  Ellering said that was only Tenille Dashwood.  Jordynne said it was a lot more than her but she thinks it was only Dashwood because that's the only person she speaks to.

Gia Miller tried to get an interview with Don Callis at Kenny Omega's locker room.  She asked him about the issues with Scott D'Amore.  Callis asked if she had siblings.  You can love someone and still have differences.  They resurrected Impact because they had different skill sets.  Scott doesn't know how to put his feelings aside.  He has empathy for the talents.  Callis doesn't have empathy and is able to do things that Scott isn't able to do.  Someone has to deliver the bad news and be the heavy.  Sami's firing was inevitable and he was too nice to the one to rip the band-aid off.  Callis said that he doesn't care that Anthem has a corporate stooge coming in.  He expects they will thank him for getting rid of a problem in Sami Callihan.

Tenille Dashwood with Kaleb with A K vs. Rachael Ellering.

No Jordynne Grace at ringside.

Dashwood tried to present Ellering with a shirt but Ellering tossed it away.  She told Tenille she just wanted to have a match.

Some solid back and forth wrestling early on.  Dashwood escaped a side headlock and cinched in a head scissors.  Ellering nailed a shoulderblock and drilled Dashwood into the corner.  Ellering whipped her across the ring and nailed a flying forearm in the corner but missed and hit the buckles when she attempted to repeat the feat.  Ellering's leg was grabbed by Kaleb, allowing Dashwood to drill her and take control.  Dashwood worked her over but Ellering rolled to the floor when Dashwood prepared to hit her splash in the corner.  Dashwood followed her to the floor and they battled back and forth.   Ellering was whipped hard into the guard rails and was nearly counted out but returned.  Ellering was limping as Dashwood continued the beating.  She nailed a flying bodypress but Ellering kicked up at the last second.  Dashwood began beating her head into the mat.  She attempted a suplex but Ellering blocked it.  Dashwood nailed several shots to the kidneys but still couldn't lift Ellering.  Ellering finally reversed it and went to town with a series of hot offensive maneuvers, including a slingblade and a back senton splash.  Ellering nailed a spinebuster for a close two count.  They battled back and forth with a series of near-falls.  Ellering began to get more aggressive and nailed a STO and a spinning legdrop.  Kaleb distracted her, allowing Dashwood to grab her in a crucifix for the pin.

Your winner, Tenille Dashwood!

The idea was that if Grace had been there, perhaps Ellering would have had a fair chance at winning.

Backstage, TJP tried to get Scott D'Amore to come out of his office.  Decay showed up and said they have unfinished business after tonight.  They ended up agreeing to a tag team match.

Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champions Fire N' Flayva were bragging about their win at the PPV and claimed to be the best Knockouts team in history.  They came across a janitor, who didn't know who they were because he just started today.  They blew him off and asked someone else but he didn't know either.  Rosemary showed up mocking them and then Havok came from behind.  The champs tried to talk their way out but Steelz was smashed into a wall and Hogan was tossed in a dumpster.  I think we know the Slammiversary match.

There was a trash bag labeled MICKIE in the dumpster.  It would have been funnier if it was marked CARRANO.

The Impact+ classic footage was Bully Ray vs. Chris Sabin.

Satoshi Kojima with Eddie Edwards vs. Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion Rhino with Violent by Design.

They tried to test the other.  Rhino shoulderblocked Kojima down to the mat.  Kojima fired back with forearms but again was shoulderblocked to the floor.  Rhino worked him over in the corner and nailed a series of right hands.  Rhino drilled him across the back.  Kojima made a comeback and nailed a back elbow.  Rhino went to the floor as they went to a commercial.

When they returned, Rhino continued to work over Kojima with headbutts and mauled him in the corner.  Rhino locked on a rear chinlock and then twisted his neck, trying to wear him down.  Kojima nailed several elbows but was nailed down to the mat.  Kojima was sent into the corner but avoided a charge and nailed his rapid-fire chops.  Kojima came off the top with a flying elbow for a two count.

Kojima nailed a series of forearms and elbows.  Rhino fired away with elbows of his own and gored him in the corner.  Kojima avoided another nailed a lariat and a KojiCutter but was too spent to capitalize.  Kojima nailed the lariat and scored the pin.

Your winner, Satoshi Kojima!

As Josh and D'Lo were running down next week's episode, Sami Callihan somehow got into the ring and began ranting and raving that he can't be fired.  Security came out but Scott D'Amore sent them away.  He said that for once he is on Callihan's side and said that the Anthem Board member is said to be in the building.  He said Don Callis overstepped his boundaries and Scott has been working all week to get it fixed but for once, Sami needs to trust him because he's making it worse.  Sami said that he's the heart and spul going to do it Scott's way for once.  He hacked his way out and disappeared.

Don Callis came to the ring and said that Scott's guy just lef the building but you can't fix crazy and you can't fix Sami Callihan.  Callis said that maybe he overstepped his boundaries this past weekend but he did it for Scott.  For years, he's been telling Scott that they are better than the wrestlers.  They are too smart to keep wrestling and not be pieces of garbage like them.  He said Scott didn't have the guts to fire Sami.  Scott said he did it to protect his nephew Kenny Omega.

Tommy Dreamer came out and they both seemed confused.  Scott told him that this isn't the time to hear an "I don't you so."  Dreamer said he isn't going to do that.  Callis told him its not 1998 anymore and to go back to the Bingo Hall.  Scott said Anthem has sent someone.  Dreamer said he's the person Anthem sent.  He admitted he went to the Board.  He said Sami Callihan has been reinstated.    He said someone else has to be fired.  Scott started taking offense as Dreamer said they were supposed to save this place and make it better, saying they did.  Dreamer said they can't see the forest from the trees.

Dreamer said when you put personal goals and friendships in front of business, there needs to be a change.  Dreamer went to the board and effective immediately Don Callis was fired as an EVP.  Callis lost it and called Dreamer a Bruce Prichard stooge.  He walked off.  Dreamer told him there was a trash bag waiting for him in the back.

Callis went to the back, where he encountered Callihan.  Callihan said he's going to take the one person Callis cares about, Kenny Omega, and bash his brains in.

Off the air they go.......
