By James Kurokawa on 2021-06-14 19:33:00

6/14/21 Results for New Japan's Kizuna Road 2021From Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan:

Yuya Uemura vs. Minoru Suzuki.  Suzuki immediately tried to intimidate Uemura.  Uemura stood up to him.  They began grappling on the mat and had a good wrestling match.  Suzuki began to tie up Uemura by using submission holds.   Uemura tried to brawl by throwing fists.   Suzuki takes him out to the floor and throws Uemura into the guardrail.   On the ring floor, Suzuki wrenched Uemura in a vicious hammerlock submission.  Uemura almost gets counted out.  Back in the ring, Suzuki locks the hammerlock submission again, but Uemura makes it to the ropes.  Uemura makes a comeback with a Boston Crab.   Suzuki gets the break and throws two stiff elbows to Uemura's chin.   Suzuki screams at him to get up.   Pace picks up and they fly around the ring.   Suzuki hits Uemura in the face with a dropkick, then locks him in a single-leg crab.  Uemura almost gets to the ropes but Suzuki drags him to the middle of the ring by the ankle and re-applies the single-leg crab with an ankle twist.   Uemura taps out.  Good match.  Uemura has shown fire against Suzuki before and their matches are usually entertaining, but never a squash.

Yota Tsuji vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi.  Tsuji looks trimmer and more lean. Interesting match up as Tsuji considers Tanahashi his hero and mentor.     Tanahashi went to work on the legs of Tsuji with a Dragon Screw and an Indian Death Lock.  Tsuji countered by attacking the legs of Tanahashi and using a reverse figure four.  Tanahashi drop kicked the knee of Tsuji and locked him in the Texas Cloverleaf.  Tsuji makes it to the ropes.   Tsuji caught Tanahashi in a Gory Special, put him in a Giant Swing, then hit a spear.   Tsuji trapped Tanahashi in Boston Crab.   Tanahashi makes it to the ropes.   Tsuji slams Tanahashi and goes for a top rope splash.    Tanahashi moves and Tsuji lands on his face.   Tanahashi hits a Slingblade and locks Tsuji in a Texas Cloverleaf again.   Tsuji taps out.

Tanahashi has words of encouragement for Tsuji as his music plays.    Tsuji looks really good in the ring.  Two young lions have single matches to open the night.   Usually they are partners of the main stars in opening matches.   It seems they are in the "final exam" stage of their young careers and were being evaluated in the ring by the veterans.

Yujiro Takahashi, Jado, EVIL and Dick Togo vs. Toru Yano, YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto and Tomohiro Ishii.  Yano hits a low blow on Jado and pins Jado.  Lots of chaos in the match with kendo sticks, piano wires and turnbuckles.    They are building towards the NEVER Openweight 6-man Championship defense next week between CHAOS and Bullet Club.  I would expect lots of similar matches to this between these teams prior to their Title match.

El Phantasmo, Taiji Ishimori and Gedo vs. YOH, SHO and Kazuchika Okada.  Gedo tried for a Gedo Clutch on Okada, who reversed it and applied the Money Clip.   Gedo taps out.

El Desperado, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi vs. BUSHI, SANADA, Tetsuya Naito and Shingo Takagi.  Takagi started out the match against Desperado.  Both men trash talked each other.   They tagged out to and Suzuki-Gun takes the match to the floor.   Everyone is fighting on the floor around ringside.   BUSHI and ZSJ end up back in the ring and ZSJ ties BUSHI into knots.   Taichi tags in and chokes out BUSHI in front of Red Shoes, the referee.   Pace picks up.   SANADA and ZSJ pair off and they have a great battle.   Naito enters the ring and he and SANADA attack the knee of ZSJ.  ZSJ screams as Naito applies a figure four.   Taichi breaks the hold and starts kicking Naito in the head.  Naito and Taichi trade stiff shots.   Takagi enters and battles Taichi, both hitting each other with Pumping Bombers.   Desperado and Kanemaru enter the ring to double team Takagi.  Everyone trades finishing moves.    Takagi and Kanemaru are in the ring.  Kanemaru gets a two count with a back slide.   Takagi hits a pop-up Death Valley Driver and a Pumping Bomber on Kanemaru.   Takagi hits Last of the Dragon on Kanemaru.

Takagi pins Kanemaru.

Another good match.   Naito and SANADA have words with Suzuki-Gun after the match.   ZSJ was selling his knee as he walked back to the locker room.

Naito and SANADA vs. Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi for the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles should be awesome.

Takagi takes the mic and calls out Ibushi again.  He wants their Title match to be on the biggest stage possible.  With COVID and the Olympics, we shall see what happens.

The Kizuna Road 2021 Tour continues tomorrow.
