El Desperado retains the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship.  Great match.   Both men looked much better since their first match back after their COVID hiatus.

Desperado's music plays and El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori hit the ring.    SHO immediately appears to protect his partner.    ELP takes the mic and tells them to calm down cuz they are here to break the news.   At Kizuna Road, he tells SHO and YOH, they will no longer be Jr. Tag Champions anymore.  Bullet Club is coming for their Titles.   ELP is about to address Desperado till Ishimori takes the mic from him.  Ishimori tells Desperado that he jumped the line in front of him.   Ishimori said he was patient and he waited.     But now it is his turn.   Ishimori said that he is coming for his Title.  Desperado take the mic and says that you guys will not have the last word.  He praised YOH saying that he was better than he thought.    He tells Ishimori that he accepts his challenge.

Special Single Match:   Jeff Cobb vs. Kota Ibushi.  O-Khan is at ringside in street clothes.   Cobb and Ibushi both start off with strikes.   It breaks down into a fight.   Cobb kept Ibushi on the mat with strikes, punches and headbutts.   Ibushi kept egging on Cobb which made Cobb hit him harder.   Cobb also attacked Ibushi's back with kicks and uppercuts.   Ibushi gets a rally with a knee to the gut of Cobb.  Cobb goes to the outside.   Ibushi goes for a plancha.   Cobb catches him and powers him up into a powerbomb position.    Ibushi punches Cobb till he back into the ring.   Ibushi leaps to the top rope and hits a moonsault onto Cobb.    Wow!   As they crawl into the ring, Ibushi climbs to the middle rope and tries to give Cobb a deadlift German Suplex.  Cobb is too heavy and blocks it.  Cobb climbs the turnbuckle and is about to Superplex Ibushi to the floor.   Ibushi blocks it.   Ibushi jumps off the top rope and hits a Frankensteiner on Cobb.   Only a two count.   Ibushi hits a Bomaye on Cobb.   Two count.  Ibushi goes for a Kamigoye but Cobb turns it into a over-the-head belly to belly suplex.   Cobb hits a high back suplex.  Two count.   Cobb hits a big F5 and Ibushi spins several times in the air.   Cobb goes for a Tour of the Islands.   Ibushi blasts Cobb with a high kick.   Ibushi connects with Kamigoye.   Cobb kicks out at two!  Wow!

Cobb goes for a Tour of the Islands but Ibushi rolls him into a small package.  Two count.   Cobb blocked a high knee from Ibushi.   He tried to power Ibushi up into another power move.     They missed a move here, either Ibushi or Cobb was off balance.  While Cobb held Ibushi from the high knee, Ibushi came down on the chest of  Cobb.   The commentators sold it as a flying Kamigoye.      After Ibushi came down on the chest of Cobb, Ibushi hit another Kamigoye.  Ibushi pins Cobb.

Another good match.   Both wrestlers told a great story in the ring tonight and over the past few weeks..  Cobb had some problems with the size of Ibushi.  However, I think Cobb should be elevated in status with this match.

IWGP World Heavyweight Championship:   Kazuchika Okada vs. Shingo Takagi -  Okada and Takagi have scientific wrestling match at the start, with headlocks, armbars and hammerlocks.   This was a feeling out process.   Both men began throwing punches and strikes.  Takagi takes the match to the floor and throws Okada into the guardrails.  Takagi focuses his attack on the lower back of Okada with suplexes and a leg scissors.  Pace picks up.   Okada hits a DDT on Takagi on the ring floor.   They get back in the ring and Okada slaps on the Money Clip.   Takagi gets to the ropes.

Shingo Takagi wins the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship!

Awesome match!    Both men wrestled a great match.    Lots of credit to Okada who suffered from an illness and came back to perform well against Takagi.

Shingo Takagi deserve a lot of credit.  During this year of 2021, Shingo had a great matches with Jeff Cobb at Wrestle Kingdom, with Hiroshi Tanahashi at New Beginning, and with Will Ospreay during the New Japan Cup Finals.   This was just in the first half of the year.  Also, with all the injuries and illness which befell upon the wrestlers and staff of New Japan, Shingo remained healthy and a consistent performer for the company.    As far as I am concerned, Shingo Takagi already earned "Wrestler of the Year" for 2021.

Takagi addresses the crowd.   He calls out Ibushi as his first challenger.   Ibushi makes his way to the ring.   He makes an offer to Ibushi to challenge him.  Ibushi accepts.

In the interview area, Shingo Takagi puts over the greatness of Kazuchika Okada.   He says that he inspired to face Kota Ibushi right now.   He speaks to Will Ospreay, and tells him that he should be inspired to get well as fast as he can so he can face him for this title again.   He said he is proud to be the first one of Los Ingobernales de Japon to earn the IWGP World Heavyweight Title.

The Kizuna Road Tour begins June 14.
