Former WWE NXT and WWE United States Champion Andrade officially debuted tonight for All Elite Wrestling on Dynamite.
The third generation star, 31, was introduced by Vickie Guerrero, who stated he was going to be the face of wrestling going forward. He only made a short appearance in his debut, but could obviously return later as the live Dynamite broadcast is ongoing as of this writing. He was billed as Andrade El Idolo and it appeared he would be with Guerrero going forward on camera.
Andrade requested and received his WWE release in March of this year. He had been signed to the company in 2015 and found his greatest success coupled on camera with Zelina Vega as part of WWE NXT, where they were a top act and feuded with Johnny Gargano and Drew McIntyre among others. The duo did not receive as strong of a consistent push once they moved to the main roster. After a run with the United States title, Andrade was shifted into a tag team with Angel Garza. He had not been used in some time by the point he requested to exit the company.
Andrade is already slated to face Kenny Omega for the AAA Championship later this summer at Triplemania.
AEW later announced Andrade had signed with the promotion:
