KING OF DDT TOURNAMENT SET, ONITA ANNOUNCES A MUCH INTERESTING SUCCESSOR, BARNETT VS. NAGATA REMATCH? AND MORE FROM JAPAN

DDT Pro-Wrestling

DDT Pro-Wrestling has announced the full bracket for its King of DDT tournament.

The first round matchups, moving from top to bottom down the bracket then left to right, are:

• HARASHIMA vs. Makoto Oishi
• Yuji Hino vs. Yukio Sakaguchi
• MAO vs. Soma Takao
• Akito vs. Konosuke Takeshita
• Yuki Ueno vs. Daisuke Sasaki
• Shunma Katsumata vs. Jun Akiyama
• Kazusada Higuchi vs. Naomi Yoshimura
• Tetsuya Endo vs. Chris Brookes

The first round will take place on June 10 in Shinjuku FACE, the second round will take place on June 20 in Korakuen Hall and the semi-finals and final will take place on July 4 in Korakuen Hall.

DDT will hold two shows in Fukuoka tomorrow. The full cards are:

Yuya Aoki challenged Yasufumi Nakanoue for the BJW World Strong Heavyweight Championship after the third match.

Big Japan will hold two shows tomorrow in Yokohama Radiant Hall. However, due to Great Kojika recording a 37-degree temperature today, his scheduled BJW Junior Heavyweight Championship match against Isami Kodaka on the afternoon show has been cancelled as a precaution.

Kodaka will face Yasufumi Nakanoue in a non-title match instead. The full cards for tomorrow’s shows are:

Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling Explosion

Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling Explosion founder Atsushi Onita has appointed Ice Ribbon’s Suzu Suzuki as his successor, according to an article from Yahoo.

Suzuki is currently undergoing her trial series in Ice Ribbon with the unique twist of facing hardcore wrestlers. Her next opponent is Abdullah Kobayashi, who is set to face Onita in the Deathmatch of Hell main event at FMW-E’s debut show on July 4, on May 30.

FMW-E is scheduled to hold a four-way women’s match at its debut show and it remains to be seen if Suzuki is involved.

Pro Wrestling ZERO1

GLEAT’s Takanori Ito has been removed from Pro Wrestling ZERO1’s show on May 30 in Korakuen Hall due to a right knee injury.

Instead, GLEAT’s Yu Iizuka will take Ito’s place. Iizuka will team with Soma Watanabe against Shoki Kitamura and Takumi Baba.

Pro Wrestling FREEDOMS

Pro Wrestling FREEDOMS has confirmed Toru Sugiura will attempt his tenth defense of the King Of FREEDOM World Championship against Violento Jack at its show on July 5 in Korakuen Hall.

New Japan Pro Wrestling

Satoshi Kojima debuted in Impact Wrestling last night and challenged Joe Doering to a match at Against All Odds on June 12. The match has been officially confirmed.

Kojima successfully defended All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship against Doering in 2010, which remains their only singles match and most recent encounter including tag team matches. Doering teamed with Keiji Mutoh to defeat Kojima and TARU for All Japan’s World Tag Team Championships in 2008.

Josh Barnett has challenged Yuji Nagata to a rematch of their 2003 bout. Nagata retained the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Barnett in the Tokyo Dome on January 4, 2003.
