PWInsider.com has confirmed that there are two active cases involving former WCW star Marcus "Buff" Bagwell in Cobb County, GA..
In the first case, the offense date is listed as 8/16/20, which would indeed be the incident where Bagwell crashed his car and was hospitalized with major injuries. In regard to this case, Bagwell has been charged with the following:
-Hit and Run; Duty of Driver to Stop at or Return to the Scene of Accident (3 charges)
-Following Too Closely. (2 charges)
-Failure to Yield When Entering an Intersection.
-Speeding
-Driving within a Gore or Median or Emergency Lane.
-Driving on the Wrong Side of the Roadway.
-Duty upon striking a fixed object.
-Driving under the Influence of Drugs.
-Reckless Driving.
According to an announcement released on 8/18/20 by authorities seeking witnesses, Bagwell was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe while driving West on Cumberland Boulevard towards Cumberland Parkway in Cobb County on Sunday 8/16. Around 5:18 PM, Bagwell lost control as he followed a curve in the road, striking the center median and a metal fence inside the median, before driving towards oncoming traffic on the opposite side of the road. The car then hit the curb before colliding a "free-standing bathroom" next to a bus station. Bagwell was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA with serious injuries. The announcement noted that "Investigators believe Bagwell was impaired by prescription medication during the collision." Bagwell suffered a broken right hip, broken ribs, a broken left eye socket, a torn groin and has lots of bruising from the car wreck
Bagwell is slated for a 7/22 court date on the aforementioned charges.
The second case stems from Bagwell being arrested at 1:25 PM at the intersection of Bells Ferry Road and Santa Fe Trail. The charges related to the 5/22 incident:
-Hit and Run; Duty of Driver to Stop at or Return to the Scene of Accident.
-Giving False Name, Address or Birthdate to a Law Enforcement Officer.
-Following Too Closely.
-License to be carried and exhibited on demand.
-Open container violation.
Bagwell is to face a different judge before the court on 7/23.
Bagwell was released the evening of 5/22 around 9:25 PM after bonding out for $14,000 between the two cases.
