New Japan Pro Wrestling
New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced its shows on May 22 in Nagoya Congress Center Event Hall and May 24, 25 and 26 in Korakuen Hall will take place as scheduled.
The company has not held a show since May 4 due to the extended state of emergency in Japan. There was also an outbreak of COVID-19 on the roster, with nine positive tests publicly announced.
The cards for the shows are yet to be announced.
New Japan has uploaded the second half of its interview with Kota Ibushi. Topics discussed include his thoughts on the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship design, his loss to Will Ospreay at Sakura Genesis and the origin of his foot injury.
Ibushi revealed he first injured his foot taking a Frankensteiner against Tetsuya Naito on the first night of Wrestle Kingdom 15 on January 4. He was told it would be best to not move on the foot for three months. Of course, he wrestled a 49-minute match against Jay White the next night instead.
Part two of the interview can be read here.
Shota Umino will return to British promotion Revolution Pro Wrestling this summer, it was announced during yesterday’s Epic Encounters 11 show.
Umino left New Japan on excursion to the United Kingdom in September 2019 after the Young Lion Cup. Needless to say, the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic cut those plans short.
Umino mostly wrestled for RevPro while on excursion but also made appearances in ATTACK! Pro Wrestling, Fight Club: PRO and Over The Top Wrestling. He is best known for becoming Jon Moxley’s tag team partner throughout 2019’s G1 Climax tournament.
Epic Encounters 11 aired on YouTube and can be watched on the attachment below. The announcement of Umino’s return is at the 16:52 mark.
