PWInsider.com is sad to report that longtime independent wrestling promoter Dick Caricofe, who ran the National Wrestling League in Maryland and Virginia for many, many years, passed away yesterday. As of this writing, we do not have details on the circumstances of his passing.
The NWL was launched in 1988 out of Maryland and ran for many, many years including international tours in Guam, Saipan, Pohnpei, Hawaiian Islands, Palau, and the Marshall Islands.
For a period of time, Dick Caricofe was the local promoter for Ring of Honor in Maryland as well.
Beyond running the promotion, Caricofe was also an antiques dealer. His son, who wrestled as Neil Superior, passed away in 1996.
