We are back in the undisclosed location in or around Cleveland, OH, for the next episode of AIW’s Go for Broke. We take a look back at the action of the previous episode before we get to this week’s action.
The Duke has his feet up in his office, wondering why everyone’s so surprised that he’s winning the competition so far. He tells us don’t be mad that he’s smarter than everyone. The Duke shows us the current leaderboard.
By the way, The Duke paid for that time.
We go to a video package on Chuck Stone. He mentioned he and Eric Taylor went to an AIW show together and signed up for the AIW school immediately. He claims after taking some time off, he’s no longer the same Chuck Stone anymore.
AIW President Matt Wadsworth and AIW Owner John Thorne are in commentary as we head to the ring.
First match tonight is Pretty Boy Smooth vs Dom Garrini. Garrini is focusing on the taller Smooth’s legs. Smooth is able to kick his way out of the ankle lock, and Garrini is able to roll out of the Rings of Saturn. Garrini climbs on Smooth’s back and locks in a rear naked choke, but Smooth fights his way out and connects with a Death Valley Driver and scores the win.
Dom Garrini walks through the curtain, pissed at his loss, before we head to the lounge where Josh Bishop is browbeating three rookies. Razor Sharpe checks in on Frankie Flynn, but Flynn says the skull on his cane is the only friend he needs.
Razor Sharpe vs Frankie Flynn is in the ring, and Razor Sharpe starts with a big splash. Flynn fights back, and a headbutt is enough to get Flynn his first win in the competition.
We get a video package on Ziggy Haim, talking about watching tons of ECW on YouTube and wanting to be Cactus Jack. She says she grew up a weird little home-schooled kid. She warns people not to underestimate her, because that’s how she gets one up.
Frankie Flynn walks back to the lounge and sees AIW Tag Champion Marino Tenaglia. Flynn says he should still be AIW Tag Champion. Tenaglia is happy to challenge him to a match. Brian Carson wants to bet with someone, but no one is having.
The AIW Absolute Intense Champion Josh Bishop is in the ring to take on El Ninja Uno, so get your stopwatches ready. They actually lock up, but Josh Bishop just suplexes El Ninja Uno. Fallaway slam, and Bishop is clearly just toying with the masked rookie. Chokeslam, a foot on the chest, and Bishop wins. It lasted longer than I expected it to.
Bishop and Barkley walk through the curtain and see 40 Acres. Pretty Boy Smooth says they’re writing checks they can’t cash.
Sid Von Engeland is talking in the back about moving to the midwest. He hopes to show a new audience what he can do. When people think of British wrestlers, they may think of William Regal and Johnny Saint, but von Engeland says to expect the unexpected.
Sid von Engeland (with his wife Eden von Engeland ringside) is taking on Tre Lamar. Lamar gets the early advantage until von Engeland heads to the floor. Eden stops Lamar from hitting a dive, and Sid traps Lamar in the ring apron and hits some cross chops. Back in the ring, Lamar fights back and hits a springboard lariat. Torture rack into a backbreaker followed by the Frog Splash Elbow gives Lamar the win over the newcomer.
Wes Barkley is on the red couch and thinks he’s in first place (he’s not), but he’s planning to win this tournament, and he and Bishop (the Rip City Shooters) will challenge PME for the tag titles. He calls out The Duke and claims they should have taken his offer last week.
Main event time as Wes Barkley takes on Chuck Stone. Stone and Barkley trade side headlocks and Stone tries to overpower Barkley. Barkley tries to throw a side kick, and Stone absorbs it and stays on his feet. Referee Xavier Franklin tries a shot, which allows Barkley to roll to the floor and get a breather. We can see Stone’s normal partner, Arthur McArthur, watching from the Eagles Nest next to the entrance. Double clothesline, and both men are down. Stone hits a splash and climbs to the top. Bishop throws one of his titles into the ring, distracting Franklin. Bishop uses the other titles to knock Stone off the top rope. Barkley makes the cover and gets the three count.
We go to the back, and Philly Marino Experience talks about how they need to keep their eyes on the prize with Rip City Shooters coming after them. Philly Collins confronts Wes Barkley as he comes through the curtain, trying to goad him into a fight. The Rip City Shooters and PME separate, and we see The Production (Derek Dillinger and Ziggy Haim) watching nearby. Ziggy tells Derek they need to be working together, and Derek thinks they should become the first intergender AIW Tag Champions.
And we go to credits.
