Beyond Wrestling “Project Reality”

5/6/21 - Worcester, MA

Beyond’s May offering has a stacked card headlined by a title showdown between IWTV champ Lee Moriarty and the man who beat him in Atlantic City, Wheeler Yuta. SIDNEY BAKABELLA is doing double duty tonight, filling in for Rich Palladino in the announcer spot. Paul Crockett is at the commentary table, reveling in the brief breaks he is getting from his longtime nemes—er, partner.

Match 1: “Dirty Daddy” Chris Dickinson vs Teddy Goodz

Teddy Goodz WANTS Dickinson to take the L or kill him. They may be friends and former roommates but Goodz takes it right to him. Dickinson fires back but Goodz has an answer each time. Dickinson sent to the outside, Goodz dives right after and tries for the quick count back into the ring. Goodz tries a KO punch but Dickinson kicks the fist out of the air, drops into a deep cross arm breaker but Goodz gets the rope. The Filthy Father is firmly in control as he rolls Goodz around in an armlock. Dickinson throws kicks and stomps and Goodz is crumbling under those trunk tassels. Ted starting to fire back, heated exchange, Dickinson tries a rollup, Goodz kicks out and hits a cutter to get some breathing room!  10 elbows to the spine in the corner, Goodz wants a backpack stunner, settles for an iconoclasm. Goodz gets the backpack stunner, Dickinson reverses into a cross arm breaker! Goodz out, hit with a DVD. Kick out! Goodz hits a DVD of his own, Chris barely makes the count. Goodz goes for another cutter, Dickinson back to the cross arm breaker. Goodz out and they trade clothesline attempts. Both guys winded and staggering each other with forearms. Goodz hits a high knee, comes running...Dickinson counters right into the cross arm breaker one more time but Goodz has to tap this time.

Winner: Chris Dickinson (by submission)

Hot damn, Ted Goodz. Good damn job, dude. Chris Dickinson instantly grabs the microphone to put Goodz wayyyyy over. “You wanted 100%? You got it” Dickinson clearly is looking forward to another one of these down the road....and think we all are too. Hell of an opener.

Match 2: Edith Surreal vs “The Prize” Alec Price

Price is an absolute maniac, promising to take Surreal’s mask tonight. Edith using her long limbs to wrap up Price early but he goes for the mask early to take the offense. Big wheelbarrow powerbomb for a two. He keeps the heat on, wrapping Surreal in a camel clutch and goes for the mask again. Surreal reverses and wraps up the legs, forcing Price to the ropes. Big clothesline from Edith, back elbow to the corner, tries the bulldog but Price catches the leg with a back suplex. Price is squealing with frustration as Edith won’t stay down. Price wants to finish but Surreal hits her bulldog, frog splash from the top but Price isn’t done. Price with a high knee, comes running with another and Surreal locks up the legs again. Price going for the mask again to break it up and hits a running back kick to the head to get the three count.

Winner: Alec Price

BOOOOOO THIS MAN! Price had a gameplan tonight, for sure. Edith looked great but her mask was a huge target tonight. Price got so much heat with the crowd for this one. I can’t wait to see where this kid is going. Maybe straight to the Pazuzu projects? Edith will be back in Worcester in a couple of weeks to take on Trish Adora, a match I’m pretty excited for.

Match 3: 1 Called Manders vs Robo the Punjabi Lion

Power on power in the ring here. Early jockeying for position but we get right into the chops and slugfest before long. Robo cuts it off with a big throw and Manders takes a powder. Robo chases him down but Manders makes him eat post and apron. Manders with a snapmare and chop before hitting a long delay vertical suplex. Robo trying to fight out of danger, hitting a high angle dropkick and spinning powerslam. These bulls decide to trade headbutts and forearms until Robo clubs some forearms and slingshots Manders into the second. Running forearm and a yakuza kick....codebreaker off the second....kick out! Robo kicking at Manders, who is swinging at air. Manders catches Robo coming in and tosses him into the buckles. Manders winds up for the big lariat....HE CONNECTS! Robo with the kick out! Manders going for the Oklahoma stampede, Robo slips it...high knee....Manders catches him again and hits the Oklahoma stampede! Kick out! Manders takes Robo to the top...Robo fights out! Superkick and a high knee....falcon arrow! Manders is down for the three!

Winner: Robo the Punjabi Lion

Big fight here. Manders gave Robo everything he could but the Lion hung in there and was able to put the big cowboy down. Good chemistry with these two. Liked this a lot.

Match 4: Pretty Proper (Victor Benjamin & Lady Frost) vs Team Sea Stars (Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo)

The crowd may be booing Pretty Proper but I’m Team Peanut Butter over here.   Frost frustrates Exo early but her attitude get the better of her and Delmi take control. Vox in to hit a tandem tilt a whirl neckbreaker and senton combo. Frost kicks out and gets her husband into the contest. Victor offers the first shot and Vox takes several, hip tossing, dropkicking and hitting a rana on the bigger man. Frost’s feeling rested and tags in. Sea Stars try a double suplex but Victor catches her lovingly. He stomps the heck out of Delmi, bringing Frost in to drop the knees and hit some corner spears. Victor in with more damage and a big suplex to Exo. Exo makes space with the double dropkick and gets the tag to Vox. Victor take a series of shots to the head, misses a spinning kick before getting fish hooked and reeling in for a clotheline for two. Sea Stars with the double team. Northern lights suplex for two. Frost in and Victor take her off the top rope into a senton on Delmi for a VERY close two. Frost rana’s Victor into a senton on Exo and she kicks out of that too! They try another double team but Vox cuts that off. Sea Stars with a spear and he drops Frost. Sea Stars with a senton off the top and Delmi makes the cover. Victor’s shoulder goes up at two but it looks like the ref was out of position and he’s counted out.

Winner: Team Sea Stars

I love both these teams but parts of this match just didn’t click for me. Some solid double team work here in spots, Delmi Exo was the workhorse of the Sea Stars tonight. It was super weird to see Victor be the weak link in the contest.

Cam Zagami is here and the crowd is immediately on his case. Cam says it’s the grand reopening of Club Cam and THIS SUMMER? There’s no hotter place to be. Who will be his next VIP? Well, Matt Makowski is here. He’s probably not the club going type. The ref rings the bell?

Match 5: “Weapon X” Matt Makowski vs “Club” Cam Zagami

Matt Makowski swarms Cam with a few strikes and hits a high kick. Cam crumbles and the ref calls it off. Sidney Bakabella announces this as a new Beyond match record.

Winner: Matt Makowski

Well, that was wonderful. Music hits....OH RIGHT, MAKOWSKI HAS AN ACTUAL MATCH TONIGHT.

Match 6: “Weapon X” Matt Makowski vs “The Air Pod God” Richard Holliday

Holliday probably doesn’t want to suffer a similar fate as his friend, Cam Zagami. Makowski is too much for Holliday, who has to go to the cheap shot well to take control. Holliday with a big hip toss but Makowski is just pissed off and swarms Holliday with kicks and slams for two. Holliday forces Matt to chase him down and hits a hangman’s ddt for two. Holliday with stomp and wrenches the arm and shoulder, trying to wear Weapon X down. Suplex with a bridge for two. Makowski with a two on a back slide and a series of kicks. Arm bar but Holliday stacks it to break. Holliday trying for the crab, Makowski fights back,Holliday rakes the eyes and hits a butterfly backbreaker for two. Holliday wraps a body scissor and works the face and pin attempts from there. Makowski wethers the storm, breaks free to hit a Superman punch. Holliday with a backbreaker and powerbomb for two. Makowski with hit own powerbomb off the corner. Makowski gets Holliday up in the fireman’s carry, slams him with into the cross arm bar. Holliday fighting it off but lands in a deep ankle lock. Holliday tosses Makowski to the turnbuckle and rolls him up with a handful of tights...kick out! Holliday with a ddt for another two. Makowski swarms with strikes and Holliday is turtling up. Up to the top.....Makowski brings him down from there, slamming him straight into the arm bar and Holliday immediately submits from that impactful submission.

Winner: Matt Makowski

This was really good. Holliday takes the mic to say that Makowski didn’t BEAT him. He didn’t get counted out 1, 2, 3. He tapped out because he WANTED to. Next time he won’t come alone. Cam Zagami hits the ring to help his friend...Holliday wants NOTHING to do with that. So who knows what happens next.

Match 7: Solo Darling vs “The Dimepiece” Aaron Rourke

So yeah, after all that twitter trash talk. Solo comes charging in before the bell and hits the honey steamer suplex right away. Rourke lands some shots and gets in her face. Solo dropping kicks and clubbing shots. Solo with a standing guillotine almost puts him out and hits a vertical suplex for two. She wants to tap this kid out and he’s begging off. She tries to drag him back in and he hits a head butt. Big lariat from the Dimepiece and a kip up. Solo fires up and comes running into a backbreaker and a follow up powerbomb for two. Solo catches him trying to flip in the corner with aa superkick. Big german and a series of kicks for two. Pump handle slam for another near fall. Solo with a TKO and locks in the sharpstinger but she’s too close to the ropes. Rourke pulling the apron into the ring. He rakes the eyes and hits another big shot for a close two. Rourke won’t stop running his mouth and Solo keeps firing back up. She’s laughing in his face as she invites a head kick and follow up fisherman’s brainbuster for the three count.

Winner: Aaron Rourke

Loved the energy in this one. The crowd really wants Rourke to get his comeuppance but Solo gave him a hell of a fight.

Match 8: Shook Crew (Bryce Donovan & Bobby Orlando w/ Bobby Jr) vs The Goodfellas (“Lawless” Rex Muscarella & “The Man of Steel” Mike Verna)

Well, ain’t this a kick in the head? I love this new team name for Lawless & Verna. Lawless and Verna are steamrolling the Shook Crew early. After absorbing a lot of punishment, it takes a Donovan interference and backbreaker to let Shook Crew have a chance in this. Verna getting stomped out in the corner and slingshot into the bottom buckle. Man of Steel blasts both guys to the outside, gets the tag to Lawless, who tosses Orlando into his own partner. Lawless with a popup powerbomb to Donovan. Bobby with the blind tag, big dropkick and a double ddt. Verna makes the save. Verna with an electric chair/ddt combo to Shook Crew. They battle Verna and hit a Doomsday Device but the man of steel won’t stay down for that. The Goodfellas get in, hit a double cradle slam to Orlando for two. Verna connects with a stiff right to Donovan. Verna hits a finishing shot to Orlando but he’s not the legal man! Verna gets hit with a ripcord slam by Donovan for two. Lawless tries to hold Donovan back but Orlando uses it as an opportunity to blast Verna with a chair, letting Donovan get the pin.

Winners: Shook Crew

BOOOOOOOOOOOO! I liked this match a lot but ah man, I hate seeing a good new team name get cut off with a L. On the mic, the Shook Crew demands apologies from everyone for doubting their ability to beat SLADE. Speaking of which, SLADE comes out from the bar area and hits a huge slam on Donovan. He no sells a pair of chair shots and blasts Orlando off a table. SLADE chokeslams Orlando off the stage through a table. SLADE wants another fight with Max Caster.

Match 9: Kimber Lee vs Masha Slamovich

Impact Wrestling’s Kimber Lee has made her way home to Beyond Wrestling. Masha is right in her face before the intros. Masha comes in aggressive but Kimber isn’t put off by it, hitting a series of kicks and tries to wrap a rear choke. Kimber with an early attempt at the alligator clutch but Masha barely makes it out. Masha standing on the hair and stomps Lee out. Series of snapmares by the hair. Both trying to muscle each other into a suplex. Masha drapes her on the top rope and slingshots herself with a dropkick to the head. Kimber firing back up with big shots, Masha trading chops but whiffs a spinning backfist. Trading germans and it devolves into a slugfest and a pair of head kicks drop them both. Slowly back to their feet and they’re trading headbutts and running shots on the ropes. Fast back and forth pin attempts and Kimber locks in a single leg crab but Masha gets the ropes. Kimber has her in an electric chair, Masha reverses into a German off the second. Two count! Masha drags her up for another german. Kick out! Masha comes running, Kimber hits a popup powerbomb and locks in the alligator clutch again. This time does it and Masha is stuck down for the three.

Winner: Kimber Lee

Kimber wants a handshake. Masha offers a middle finger and a powerbomb. Slamovich had to lose eventually and she was given a huge test against Beyond staple Kimber Lee. Good war between these two, Kimber is beloved by this crowd and Masha got a room full of heat for that post-match beat down.

Main Event: “TAIGASTYLE” Lee Moriarty(c) vs Wheeler Yuta (for the IWTV Championship)

Why yes, I do love this matchup. From Yuta’s win on the Atlantic City Boardwalk to Lee’s win on the Masked Wrestler, this is an unexpected rubber match for IWTV’s biggest prize. Lee works Yuta against the ropes and eats a disrespectful slap for his trouble. Yuta wraps up a headlock but Lee bounces his way out, pats Yuta on the head and relaxes in the corner. Going back and forth, working the wrists, fast technical work and grappling chess. Lee with a series of arm drags, Yuta traps a full Nelson, Lee has to fight hard to get free. Test of strength, Yuta works the pin but Lee keeps bridging out of it. Yuta with a headlock and Lee cartwheels out. Wheeler is frustrated and needs a moment to figure this out. This speeds right up, back and forth sequence of drags, slams and reversals. Yuta catches a slam and goes to work with the stomps and slaps. Lee almost gets him with a leg trap pin. Yuta with a catches Lee running with a backbreaker and surfboard chokes Lee on his knees. Lee with a creative bridging arm breaker. Flash enziguri for two! Lee with a gory stretch but Yuta spins out and hits a boot to the head. Yuta with a stiff kick to the thigh and gets in Ref Kris Levin’s face. Yuta picking the leg apart and sends TAIGASTYLE to the outside. Yuta slams him knee first to the apron. Figure four in the center and Lee is fighting it off. Lee gets the ropes and Yuta swarms back to the knee, dropping shots and wrapping on a bridging deathlock. Lee to the ropes again but the champ is hurting. Yuta with a single leg crab but that doesn’t stop the champ either. Lee trying to flip out of more damage but Yuta drops him on his head. Lee with a jumping crossbody. Another crossbody into the ccorner. Another crossbody off the second. Lee is firing up! Reverse falcon arrow to Yuta, kick out! Lee with an octopus stretch and grinds his fist into Yuta’s ribs. Yuta drops Lee on his face and lays some stomps in as Bakabella announces we’ve hit the 30 minute mark of the match (making this the longest IWTV championship match on record). Big vertical suplex from Yuta. That doesn’t end it. Lee with a desperate back brain kick but can’t clinch the victory. Lee twisting up the wrist & elbow on the buckles. Yuta drops him to the mat and hits a discus lariat for a razor thin two. Yuta trying to wrap up the submission but Lee slams Yuta’s wrist to the mat over and over. Lee catches Yuta and slams him over the top onto the corner of the apron. Lee gives chase and they battle to the stage. Yuta gets suplexed to the wooden floor. Spinning ddt spikes Yuta to the floor again. Ref Levin making the count, both make it back at 9. Both guys are spent but they are trading forearms into each other’s tired bodies. They both fire up, trading shots faster. Yuta batters Lee to the corner but can barely stand to try and capitalize. Lee with a series of stiff elbows but Yuta with an atomic drop and german bridge for two. Lee targeting that arm more but Yuta with a missile dropkick from the top. Lee crumbled in the corner but again, Yuta can’t get over there to make the cover. Yuta fires up on the crowd chanting for Lee. Kip up, charge-in chop, big slam, kick out! 45 minutes elapsed, 15 remain. Yuta realizes he’s running out of time and he mounts Lee and lands punches. Lee crawling for the ropes but Yuta kicking his arm out. Lee firing back, Yuta crumbles but gets his foot on the rope. Lee gets the arms landing a series of stomps but Lee’s knees are giving out. Yuta wants a piledriver but Lee says no. Moriarty drops into an arm bar but Yuta clutching that wrist for dear life. Lee punches Yuta’s hands apart and rocks back into the stretch. Wheeler wont give it up. Lee tries a triangle...Yuta is fading....Yuta stacking him up....rampage powerbomb breaks the hold! “I’ve worked too hard for this! You’re NOT beating me” screams Lee as they engage in a slap fest in the center. Arm bar from Lee, Yuta is out. Lee wraps up the Yu-Tap, his legs can’t hold it. Yuta gets his own submission on but he does have the arm strength and drops Lee with a tombstone. Lee is OUT for the three.

Winner (And New IWTV Champion): Wheeler Yuta

WHAT A F***ING WAR! Look, I wrote a lot on this match. Yuta and Moriarty have been having incredible matches over the last year, with others and each other. It’s no wonder these two just made some magic. Just watch it. The first half is super frantically paced but highly technical. By the time we get into the “what do i have to do to kill you” phase of the contest, the crowd is just hooked on every move. This was near perfection and easily one of the absolute best IWTV championship matches I’ve seen.

Yuta’s post victory speech is short but effective....”I tolllllllld you.”

And that’s it for “Project Reality”. This would have been a solidly good and highly entertaining Beyond show BEFORE that main event....then Wheeler Yuta and Lee Moriarty decided to make their case for Match of the Year. Enough said. Go watch it. Props to Sidney Bakabella for pulling double duty tonight.

But let’s not forget Paul Crockett, who deserves to be heard doing commentary on all sorts of wrestling shows everywhere.

Beyond affiliated promotion WWR+ is the next big show, running “Let’s Talk About Wrestling” on Sunday 5/16, featuring a first time main event matchup between Edith Surreal & Trish Adora.
