IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2021-05-06 22:00:00

Impact Wrestling on AXS TV kicked off with highlights of last week, setting the stage for the Under Siege.

Rhino with Violent by Design vs. Chris Sabin with James Storm

They locked up, working over each other's arms.  Sabin used his quickness to escape Rhino and dropkicked him out of the ring.  Rhino recalibrated his strategy but upon returning to the ring, Sabin continued to control things until Deaner tripped him while rebounding off the ropes.  That allowed Rhino to maul Sabin in the corner.  Sabin finally reversed a whip but when Rhino bounced out of the corner, they clunked heads.

The referee began counting the competitors down but they fought their way to their feet and slugged it out.  Sabin nailed an inverted atomic drop, then a forearm and a dropkick that sent Rhino to the floor.  Sabin nailed a pescado to the outside.  Violent by Design advanced on him but the referee prevented that.  Rhino was tossed into the ring, where Sabin nailed him with a missile dropkick for a close two count.  Deaner distracted the referee, allowing Rhino to thunb Sabin in the eye.  Rhino whipped him hard into the corner but ate an elbow as he charged.  Sabin went for a tornado DDT but Rhino blocked it with shots to the kidney.

Rhino set up for a superplex and nailed it, scoring a two count.    Rhino missed a gore, setting up Sabin to score the pin with a La Magistral cradle.

Your winner, advancing to Under Siege, Chris Sabin!

Matt Striker and D'Lo Brown previewed tonight's lineup.

Backstage, Brian Myers was pissed off.  Myers said that he had to defeat the same person he already beat in to get into the Number One contender's match.  He demanded he get another opportunity.  Rosemary told him his own ego was preventing him from moving forward.  He said that was bulls** but was taken down by Black Taurus.  Decay left him laying.

Elsewhere, Don Callis told Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers they needed to focus more because Gallows and Anderson not winning isn't good for Kenny's stock.  The Good Brothers needed to party less and win more.  Omega said he was going to watch over the Good Brothers to make sure they put a "W" on the board tonight.

Susan with Kimber Lee vs. Taylor Wilde.

Wilde grabbed a waistlock.  Susan tried some unique ways to escape but Wilde maintained control and rebounded off the ropes for a leaping armdrag takedown.  She easily controlled Susan until being snapped throat-first against the bottom rope.  Susan distracted the referee, allowing Wilde to be choked against the ropes by Lee.  Tenille Dashwood and Kaleb with A K came out as Wilde mounted a comeback and nailed a twisting head scissors takedown.

Wilde nailed a big release German suplex.   Susan went to the floor.  Wilde dove off the apron, nailing a rana to the floor.  Kimber Lee tripped her as she returned to the ring.  Wilde grabbed her.  The referee, watching this, missed Dashwood nailing Susan with a neckbreaker in the ropes.  Wilde returned to the ring and nailed a suplex on the dazed Susan for the pin.

Your winner, Taylor Wilde!

The idea was that Taylor didn't know Tenille interfered and didn't wan to buddy up with her after.

Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo was interviewed by Gia Miller and asked why she wasn't at ringside with Susan and Kimber.  Before she had a chance to respond, both Rosemary and Havok showed up to confront her.  Deonna suggested they should face off and Deonna will face the winner.  The Champ stepped off, leaving them to stare each other down.

They aired a good W. Morrisey video piece.

Rohit Raju with Shera vs. Trey Miguel

Miguel showed some nice intensity early.  Raju stepped out of the ring to try and break it.  When he returned, Trey went right back after him again.  They went into a knucklelock and battled inside the center of the ring, trying to gain the advantage.  Miguel used some great athletics to keep Raju off balance but still ate a back elbow as he rebounded off the ropes.

After a commercial, Raju continued to battled Trey but was caught by a series of strikes.  Miguel fired away with a series of forearms and went for a Northern Lights suplex but Raju blocked it and nailed a nasty elbow.  He drilled Miguel into the mat for a close two count.  Miguel was dumped outside to the floor, where Shera drilled him.

Raju tossed Miguel back into the ring and nailed the Divorce Court.  Raju continued to work over the arm, focusing on the shoulder.  Miguel tried to fight out of the submission attempt and finally broke free, only to be drilled back to the mat.  Raju went for a top rope double stomp but Miguel avoided him and nailed a back flip into a double stomp to the back of the neck.  The referee began counting them both down.  They returned to their knees, battling back and forth with forearms.  Miguel locked on an arm submission, then transitioned into a near fall.  Raju drilled him in the corner and nailed a DDT off the apron, then went for a pinfall.  They went back and forth with some damn good strikes and submissions until Raju was trapped in the Hourglass submission and tapped.

Easily the best thing on the show for in-ring action thus far.

Your winner, advancing to Under Siege, Trey Miguel!

Jake Something came out and took down Shera, then attacked Raju.  He beat Raju and Shera and ran them off.

Back at Swinger's Paradise, Alisha Edwards was out of money and was kicked out by Swinger.  Alisha said she loves the place and doesn't want to leave.  Swinger said their might be a job opportunity for her.  Where is her husband to get her out of this place?  Trey Miguel showed up and said he is the one to bet on at Under Siege.  Chris Bey, Matt Cardona and Chris Sabin had issues with that.  James Storm said he hasn't qualified yet but he's got a chance.  Bey tried to churn the issues between Sabin and Storm.  Storm told Bey that he'll see Bey after he beats Moose tonight and tells Sabin to stay in the back because he can handle this himself.

Doc Gallows with AEW Champion Kenny Omega & Don Callis & Karl Anderson vs. Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion Juice Robinson with David Finlay

Gallows was all monster early on, including ripping at Juice's eye.  Robinson fired back and rained down with punches in the corner, then bit him on the forearm.  Robinson nailed a big lariat in the corner, then followed up with a cannonball.  He nailed several shots but was thwarted with a big uppercut.  Gallows sent him into the corner but was kicked off while charging.  Robinson went to the ropes but Gallows kicked him off, sending him crashing to the outside.

Gallows mauled him in the corner with forearms and choked him with his boot.  Robinson was drilled in the buckles and absorbed body shots.  Gallows finally missed a charge and Robinson worked to take out his knees and nailed a DDT for a two count.  Robinson began nailing a series of jabs and closed out with a big left handed cross.  Anderson got on the apron but was knocked off.  Same with Omega.   That allowed Gallows to recover enough to escape a Tomikaze attempt and nail a big boot, them a sit-out powerbomb for the pin.

Your winner, Doc Gallows!

Omega and The Good Brothers attacked FinJuice and laid them out.  Eddie Edwards hit the ring to make the save but was beaten down as well.  Kenny Omega and friends left them laying.

Gallows and Robinson both worked really hard here.  This was good.

Gia Miller caught Deonna Purrazo and friends leaving.  She didn't have an update on whether she had spoken with Scott D'Amore.  Purrazzo blew her off but Scott magically found her.  He said Havok vs. Rosemary was set for next week and the winner would face Deonna at Under Siege.

El Phantasmo vs. VSK

VSK is a good talent from New York City.   This was Phantasmo's Impact debut.

They had VSK show some nice fire early on, including a slam into a splash for a two count.  Phantasmo cut him off and raked VSK's back.  VSK tied him to the tree of woe.  Phantasmo stepped on his nether-regions.  They had some nice action with Phantasmo scoring a two count with a quebrada.  VSK rolled him up for a close two count and then hit a big boot in the corner.  VSK nailed a big brainbuster variation for a two count.  VSK looked great.

Phantasmo cut him off and nailed a spinning mule kick to the mid-section.  Phantasmo kicked him with a loaded boot-laden superkick and scored the pin.

Your winner, El Phantasmo!

This was good debut for each competitor.

Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champion Rachael Ellering with Jordynne Grace vs. Kiera Hogan with Tasha Steelz

Hogan attacked Ellering and worked her over, including some kicks to the mid-section while trapped in the corner.  Ellering went for a suplex but Hogan slipped out and nailed Ellering for a two count.  She cinched in a side chinclock but Ellering fought her way out.  They nailed each other at the same time but Ellering recovered first and nailed several strikes and a back senton splash for a two count.  Hogan avoided a charge in the corner and nailed a leaping forearm.  She then nailed a hip attack in the corner for a two count.

Hogan and Ellering battled back and forth until Ellering snatched her in a Boss Woman (Black Hole) Slam and scored the pin.

Your winner, Rachael Ellering!

Moose was getting ready for the main event when Don Callis showed up to play mind games.  He tried to talk up Moose, who told him he wasn't going to keep him from Kenny Omega by buttering him up.  Callis said Moose shouldn't be proving himself in a qualifying match.  Moose told him he was annoying him so shut up.  He said he had a message to send and walked off.  Callis said, "That went well" to himself.

Moose vs. James Storm

The story early on was Storm trying to figure out how to overcome Moose's sheer power and toughness.  Storm finally threw a right hand and they battled back and forth.  Moose rocked him with a big boot.  He charged but Storm ducked down and Moose sailed over the top to the floor as they went to commercial.

When they returned, Storm was on the floor as Moose worked over his leg, smashing it into the ringside barricade.  Storm was worked over on the floor for a long time.    Moose stalked Storm after he returned to the ring and worked him over, focusing his attack on the knee and leg of Storm.  Storm tried to fight from underneath with a series of rights.  Moose nailed a dropkick to the keg to cut off his momentum.  He wrapped Storm's leg around the rope and then targeted it with a running dropkick.  Moose tore at the leg to continue breaking down the extremity.  He nailed Storm with a hard chop and drilled him with another running dropkick to the knee.

Moose used a toehold but the referee caught him using the ropes to add to the momentum.  Moose pounded away at the knee.  Moose missed a charge and Storm drilled him with a knee.  Moose charged him again but Storm sidestepped him.  Moose hit the buckles hard.  Storm, limping, tried to regain his footing and nailed a series of rights.  Moose cut him off and rebounded off the ropes, only to be nailed with a Thesz Press for a two count.  Moose was nailed with a lung blower.  He backed into the corner to regain his composure.  Storm was grabbed and sent into the corner but used that to hit a tornado DDT off the buckles for a close two count.

Moose speared Storm's knee and locked on a single-legged Boston Crab.  Moose beat on the knee with fists but Storm made his way to the ropes to force the break.

They battled to the corner, where Storm went for an Eye of the Storm but his knee buckled.  Moose went after him but Storm nailed the Last Call superkick but his knee was so hurt he couldn't capitalize.  The referee looked at stopping the match but Storm begged him not to do so.  Storm pulled himself up and was killed with a BIG spear for the pin.

Your winner, advancing to Under Siege, Moose!

Moose grabbed a steel chair and placed it over Storm's knee, Pillmanizing it.

Chris Sabin hit the ring to ward off Moose.

That was it for the show!
