Major League Wrestling will hold an open draft on its website and YouTube channel over the next month, it was announced during tonight’s episode of Fusion.
Alicia Atout teased that MLW is “talking with free agents, top international wrestlers and some phenomenal prospects” during tonight’s episode. Her segment begins at the 19:45 mark.
PWInsider.com recently reported the promotion is currently signing some talents to new deals, including being in the middle of overhauling their roster in a major way with new faces and having “a focus on bringing in high profile talent” according to a source.
As for potential international wrestlers, MLW re-confirmed its working relationship with Japanese promotion Dragon Gate in March. It remains to be seen if MLW’s first show with live fans back in attendance on July 10 in Philadelphia is too soon for international travel, although the company also has Fusion tapings scheduled on September 11 in Dallas and November 6 in Chicago.
In addition, Mexican promotion Lucha Libre AAA World Wide’s head of creative Konnan works for MLW and is expected to to make an on-screen return soon, as also reported by PWInsider.com. AAA and MLW have collaborated in the past, such as holding a co-promoted Fusion taping in Tijuana last March.
It should also be noted that tonight’s episode ended with the on-screen return of former Lucha Underground authority figure Dario Cueto, who said he is building a new temple and will be at MLW’s taping on July 10.
