COMPLETE AEW DYNAMITE: BLOOD AND GUTS COVERAGE

By Anthony Pires on 2021-05-05 20:17:00

Welcome one and all to PWInsider.com's coverage of AEW Dynamite.  It is Blood and Guts night.  The Inner Circle and the Pinnacle are ready to go.  Jacksonville is ready to go.  Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur are ready to go.  Heck, I'm ready to go.  We are live in Jacksonville, FL.

PARENTAL WARNING.  This might be bloody.  I hope Blood and Guts isn't the main event.  I want them to have time.

Kenny Omega and MT Nakazawa vs Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley

Don Callis perforns the intros and compares Nakazawa to other Japanese legends like Inoki and Ibushi.  Don announces that Omega couldn't make it so Nakazawa will compete in a Handicap match.  The announcers call BS as they've seen Omega tonight.  Omega attacks Moxley and Kingston with the AEW World Title Belt as they enter.  Omega with a front facelock and tags in Nakazawa.  They take turns with running elbows.  Moxley blocks an attempted double suplex and nails Omega with a side slam.  Omega rolls out and Moxley hits a double tope suicida.  Moxley punches Omega on the outside and Kingston throws Nakazawa to the outside.  Mox and Kingsotn nail series of knee strikes for 2, as Omega breaks up the count.  Nakzawa with a low blow on Kingston.  Omega tags in and chokes Kingston on the middle rope.  Omega with an eye rake and shoves his right foot hard into Kingston's face.  Omega with a Kitoro Crusher for 2 on Kingston.  Kingston blocks a suplex so Omega nails a forearm instead.  Kingston doesn't register it.  Kingston with chops, Omega fires back and nails a death valley driver.  Kingston immediately fires back with a clothesline.  Nakazawa and Moxley tag in and Mox with a clothesline.  He stomps a mudhole in the corner.  Omega makes the save but Mox kicks him out.  Piledriver on Nakazawa for 2 as Omega makes the save.  Moxley with a rear naked choke.  Kingston invites Omega to save his partner but he walks off.  Kingston with a snap dragon off of a Moxley clothesline.  Kingston scores the pin.

WINNERS: Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley

The Young Bucks cause the distraction and the Good Brothers attack from behind.  Good Brothers with a magic killer and a double superkick by the Bucks.  Omega come back out with personal cameraman Brandon Cutler.  Omega connects with the One Winged Angel and Nick Jackson makes a mock 3 count.  The Elite ham it up.

It's formally announced that Hikaru Shida defends the AEW World Women's titlle against Dr. Dritt Baker at Double or Nothing.

Cody Rhodes with Arn Anderson vs. QT Marshall

Anthony Ogogo, Aaron Solow and Nick Comorato accompany QT but leave for the back.  We've got a slugfest at the outset.  Cody with a face front suplex drop.  Cody takes off the weight belt but referee Bryce Remsberg takes it away.  QT with a weight belt of his own fires away and stomps down on Cody in the corner.  They are firing away in the corner and this crowd is the mood for a fight.  They're on fire.  QT with a double underhook and a deadlift German Suplex.  Anderson with some advice as Cody rolls out.  QT slaps Anderson, who fires away at Marshall. The referees come down and Anderson is ejected as we go to commercial.

During picture in picture, Marshall remains in control and throws Cody out.  Cody fires away on the outside with chops and rolls QT back in.  QT nails him with a knee on re-entry and chokes Cody on the middle rope.  QY slingshots him against the bottom rope. We're back and QT misses a clothesline and they nail each other with cross body's.  Both men are down. If I didn't feel old enough, I'm reminded that the original Blood and Guts was 34 years ago.  Dustin Rhodes' first B&G match? 27 years ago.  Cody with a cross body moonsault for 2. Cody misses a disaster kick and QT with a CrossRhodes for 2.  QT with the diamond cutter attempt that Cody blocks.  QT with a buckle bomb.  They reverse tombstone piledriver positions until Cody nails it for 2.  Cross Rhodes by Cody for 2.  I'm real surprised that wasn't it.  QT flips Cody off and Cody slaps on a figure 4 and Marshall taps out.

WINNER: Cody Rhodes

Cody has a heck of a cut under his eye.  Here comes Ogogo, who nails a body punch and drapes the Union Jack over him.

We see highlights of Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky's attack on Sting and Darby Allin.  Alex Marvez is with Sky and Page in the rafters.  Sky tells us that Sting's time is over (calls him Steve as a matter of fact).  Page reminds Darby of all the injuries he's suffered throughout his career.  Darby attacks them and gets a few shots in before Page and Sky grind his face into the concrete.  They throw Allin down the concrete steps of Dailey's Place.  The TNT Champion is hurt but during the commercial break, seems to have regained his composure.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D w/Rebel (REBA) vs Julia Hart

We're told that Hart is not from Calgary.  Gut shot by Baker and a series of face palms by Baker.  Baker with a sling blade. Baker applies the black glove.  Britt with an Air Raid Crash and applies the lockjaw for the tapout.

WINNER: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D

Technique by Taz time where he breaks down Christian's frog splash and killswitch.  Unlike previous incarnations of this, Taz is mocking how sloppy and ineffective these moves are.

The Varsity Blondes (Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr. vs. Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus) vs. SCU (Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian vs. The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster)- Winners challenge the Young Bucks next week for the AEW World Tag Team Titles.

Kazarian and Perry lock up to start and we get a series of blocks and reversals. They trade rollups and face off.  Bowens tags himself in and then all 8 men start brawling as we go to commercial.

We're back and Bowens tags in Caster, who nails Daniels with a dropkick for a 1 count.  Rear chinlock by Caster, Daniels powers up but Bowens nails a kick on the outside and tags in.  Boot to the face by Daniels but Luchasaurus tags himself in and nails both the Acclaimed and The Varsity Blonds with chokes slams.  Kazarian comes in and he gets nailed with a choke slam.  Jungle Boy tags in, as does Pillman, who hits a springboard clothesline for 2.  Jungle Boy with a huge clothesline.  Jungle Boy gets stopped from going off the top by Kazarian, who nailes him with a clothesline.  Pillman rolls up Kazarian for an oh-so-close 2 count.  SCU nails the Best Meltzer Ever on Pillman for the Pin.

WINNERS: SCU (face the Young Bucks next week)

We have a video package hyping next week's IWGP U.S. Title Match between Jon Moxley and Yuji Nagata.  Moxley feels he's been disrespected.  Should be a heck of a match next week.

The cage is lowered.  It's almost time for our main event.

Tony Schiavone brings out Kenny Omega to make a big announcement about Double or Nothing.  Omega is wearing the AEW Title Belt and Nakazawa is carrying the rest of the champ's trophies (AAA, Impact & TNA).  The champ hypes up the crowd for Blood and Guts.  Omega is not impressed and shows off the gold.  Schiavone announces that next week, Pac and Orange Cassidy will meet one on one next week.  The winner goes to Double or Nothing to challenge for Omega's AEW World Title.  Omega dismisses Cassidy's chances, with brings out Cassidy.  Omega laughs off Cassidy and sends Tony away.  Omega thinks it's cute how the children dress up and pretend to be Cassidy.  The only thing that's championship material about Cassidy are his sunglasses.  Since Cassidy has taken his valuable time, Omega'll take his sunglasses.  He puts Cassidy's glasses on Nakazawa.  Omega and Nakazawa walk off as Cassidy keeps his cool.

Tony welcomes Miro, who does not look happy.  We're told that Kip Sabian is undergoing surgery due to Miro's attack last week.  Miro announces that he's got a match with Darby Allin for the TNT title.  Next week is a loaded show, for sure.

Blood and Guts: The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Santana, Ortiz & Jake Hager) vs. The Pinnacle (MJF, Wardlow, Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood & Wardlow) w/Tully Blanchard

As a reminder, the Pinnacle will have the man advantage.  Sammy Guevara gave that to them last week.  Tully is wearing a white suit.  Surreal to see Tully here, seeing as how he was in WarGames 1 in 1987.  The Inner Circle are dressed in uniform ala prison jumpsuits from Rikers Island.  This, I believe, will be Jericho's first foray into this type of match.

Guevara and Dax Harwood kick us off.  Sammy leaps over the ropes and nails a Pele kick and goes to work.  Dax slaps a headlock.  Sammy whips him off and nails a dropkick.  Sammy goes for a cross body and Dax hits a perfect spinebuster.  Instinctively he goes for a pin.  It's a chop exchange.  Sammy sends Dax into the buckles 10 times and sends Dax's head into the cage.  They're batting on the top rope, taking turns raking each others heads.  Dax falls hard on the apron.  Sammy is sending him side to side into the cage and Dax is wearing the crimson mask  as the 5 minute perios ends.

Shawn Spears enters with a chair. Sammy immediately goes on the attack but Spears with a sit down power bomb.  Sick chair shot by Spears and he stomps down on Sammy's head.  He checks on Dax as the period ends.

Ortiz enters and nails running dropkicks.  He nails Dax with the chair and sends Spears throat first into the chair.  Ortiz stomps down on Spears.  Spears and Guevara Sprinboard and brawl while balanced on the top rope.  Sammy applies a Spanish Fly.  Guevara comes up bleeding as the period ends.

Cash Wheeler joins the fray.  This is just a wild brawl of attrition.  Spears with a sharpshooters.  Gory special by Cash sends Ortiz into the cage and under the ring.

Santana is in next and nails Cash with a unanage as we go to commercial.  In picture and picture, Spears is chopping away at Guevara.  Wardlow now enters the match.  Our team captains will be coming in last it seems.   Wardlow wants the entore Inner Circle to try him.  They surround him and pounce but Wardlow pounds them down with forearms.  Guevara jumps on Wardow's back.  wardlow sends Guevara into the cage as Jake Hager comes in next.  Hager's on the attack.  The announcers applaud his strategy, lamenting why Wardlow didn't do the same.  Now they square off.  Cash is bloodied up now.  That parental warning was a good idea.  The mat is bloody.

MJF is the final entrant for the Pinnacle.  Wardlow chop blocks Hager and MJF preens to the crowd and starts yelling at Jericho.  Wardlow stomps down on Hager.  Wheeler is in bad shape.  The final entrant for the IC, Jericho enters as both teams happen to be in opposite rings.  They charge each other and fire away.  Jericho with Floyd the baseball bat, he swings away and connects.  Spears climbs the cage and Jericho chokes him as we go to commercial.

We're back and the ring has been pulled up, exposing the wood.  Proud and Powerful execute spike piledrivers on FTR, with the assist from Guevara.  Guevara nails a Van Terminator on Spears.  The turnbuckle clamp has been removed.  Santana has a fork and drives it into the bloody mess that is now MJF.  Jericho with a baseball bat assisted chinlock on Wardlow.  Jericho with a clean right hand punch to MJF. Inner Circle takes turns slapping him.  I think the crowd id chanting "WE WANT BLOOD"...they're getting it in abundance.  Wardlow eats a chair as we go to our last commercial.

Tully Blanchard takes out referee Bryce Remsberg and takes his key and opens the door.  MJF leaves and climbs to the top of the structure.  This needed to happen when thye're  NOT IN COMMERCIAL.  Jericho follows MJF up to the top.  Jericho with a Walls of Jericho on top.  MJF escapes via a low blow.  MJF with a Fujiwara armbar and then stomps down on Jericho's hand and bites on the arm and reapplies the Fujiwara.  MJF pulls out the Dynamite Diamond ring and clocks Jericho in the face.  MJF looks over the side.  Jericho is busted wide open and knocked out.  He yells that he'll throw Jericho off the cage if they don't surrender.  Sammy Guevara surrenders to save him.

WINNERS: The Pinnacle

The surrender meant nothing to MJF as he throws Jericho off the top of the cage into the stage below.  MJF mockingly thanks Jericho.  The medics come out and tend to Jericho.  MJF soaks in the crowd's hatred as AEW goes off the air
