5/4/21 Results for New Japan's Wrestling Dontaku 2021; Must see main event -  Fukuoka, Japan:

New Japan made an announcement on NJPW1972.com that there was a change to the line up of the event tonight:

A wrestler had a fever in the morning and is undergoing a thorough examination and PCR and antibody testing.

The match for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight title between El Desperado vs YOH has been removed from the event.  Also, a Suzuki-Gun vs. CHAOS match.

Japan had declared a third state of emergency due to the pandemic on April 23, 2021.    The government imposed strict guidelines on various businesses.   New Japan is taking these guidelines seriously.

Best wishes to everyone in New Japan and hopefully everyone is healthy and safe.

BUSHI, SANADA and Tetsuya Naito vs. Jeff Cobb, Aaron Henare and Great O-Khan.  Cobb destroyed BUSHI with a drop kick, a Kamagoye and a Tour of the Islands.   Ouch!  Cobb pins BUSHI.  This was a great match.    The series of matches between United Empire and Los Ingobernales de Japon on this Dontaku tour have been great.   Check it out on New Japan World.  You won’t be disappointed.   Cobb calls out Kota Ibushi to the camera.   He goes to Jyushin Thunder Liger who is at commentary, and asks “Where is Ibushi?”  He then told the announcers “It is not Kamagoye, it is Cobbagoye”.  I am excited to see this match.

Ryusuke Taguchi,  Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Dick Togo, EVIL and Jay White.  White taunts Tanahashi with the NEVER Openweight Championship he just won.   White and Tanahashi start the match.   White was still selling his knees which Tanahashi injured last night.    Comedy spots with Taguchi and Yano.     Taguchi took a beating from Bullet Club until he tagged Tanahashi.   Tanahashi cleaned house.  Tanahashi attempted a JTO on White but White reversed out and hit a Blade Buster.   They both tag out and Togo and EVIL battle with Yano.  Yano pulls out the hood.   Tanahashi gets the hood on Togo.   Yano hits a low blow on EVIL and Togo.    Yano rolls up Togo for the pin and win.

Will Ospreay retains the IWGP World Heavyweight Title.

Wow!   Fantastic match!   I do not know how these two men survived a beating like this.    United Empire never interfered which was awesome.   A good clean fight without shenanigans.

Ospreay took the mic and thanked Takagi.   He said it is time for redemption.    Ospreay repeated his challenge to Okada.

O-Khan took the mic and translated for the fans.  He announced the names of the United Empire and that they would headline Wrestle Grand Slam at the Tokyo Dome.

Despite the change in the card, the main event is totally worth it.   Check it out on New Japan World.

In the interview area, Ospreay put over Shingo again.   He warned Okada that he is coming for him.   He calls in United Empire and they all toast to their victory.
