REBELLION FALLOUT, SETTING THE STAGE FOR UNDER SIEGE, X-DIVISION WAR & MORE: IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2021-04-29 22:00:00

This week's edition of Impact Wrestling on AXS TV opened with highlights of the Rebellion 2021 PPV.

The entire locker room was literally beating down Scott D'Amore's door demanding a shot at Kenny Omega.

D'Amore emerged and told them to go to the ring so he can address it.  They headed to the ring.  Don Callis emerged and thanked Scott for dealing with that, then began preparing Zoom for Kenny Omega's title celebration.  D'Amore told him their contract stipulated Omega appeared in person and if he doesn't, he'll be stripped of the Impact title and suspended by AEW.  Callis went to scramble to get Omega to the taping.

After the opening, D'Amore in the ring congratulated Omega for his title win and praised Rich Swann's performance that night.  Usually the loser of the title gets a rematch, but Rebellion was a very unique, once in a lifetime situation, so there is no rematch clause.  So, they have to crown a new number one contender.

Therefore, at the Under Siege PPV there will be a six way match with the winner becoming the top contender for the Impact title.  If Omega doesn't arrive by the end of tonight, that match will be to crown a new champion.  The stakes at the PPV could not be bigger either way.  He appreciates everyone's moxey in wanting to bring the Impact title back to Impact.  He wants to give as many of them a chance to do so.  So, over the next two weeks, there will be six qualifying matches for the Under Siege PPV main event.

Jake Something was called into the ring.  He's always had something but the last few weeks he's been showing why he's so great and he deserves a chance.  He'll get it against "this guy."

Out came Chris Bey.

Under Siege Qualifying Match: Chris Bey vs. Jake Something.

The talents stayed around ringside as if it was a lumberjack match.

They locked up and Bey was backed into the corner.  They broke free.  Bey went after Something but was tossed aside.  Bey landed on his feet and ducked a lariat, then used a sunset flip takedown for a two count.  Bey ate a second lariat.  They battled to the floor, where Bay cut off Jake with a kick as he was in the ropes.  Bey nailed a series of kicks and came off the ropes with a bodypress for a two count.  Something made a comeback with a big double axe-handle.  He went for a powerbomb but Bey landed on his feet and nailed a kick to the head.  Something came back and nailed another powerbomb for a two count.  Bey escaped a slam and used a Code Red for a two count.  Bey went for the Ultimate Finesse but was caught.  Something nailed a roaring clothesline.  Bey grabbed the ropes when was sent into them and pulled himself out to the apron.  He hiptossed Bey into the ring.

Something set up for a move out of the corner but Rohit Raju grabbed his leg.  Something turned, allowing Bey to roll him up and put his feet on the ropes for the pin.

Your winner, advancing, Chris Bey!

Backstage, Don Callis was on the phone, telling Kenny Omega to use the jet to get here.  Sami Callihan said that everything Callis and Omega have been playing might just go up in smoke tonight.  Callis said it's not his business.  Callihan said he doesn't know when or where, but he's coming for what's his.  He walked off.

Gia Miller interviewed Taylor Wilde about her return.  Tenille Dashwood approached her about being a team together.  Taylor said she was here for Deonna Purrazzo and turned her down but Dashwood didn't seem to get the idea.

They ran down the lineup for tonight's event.

Sam Beale vs. W. Morrisey

Morrisey took the mic and told the cameras and said you may recognize this face, but you don't know who I am.  He said that no one in the back loves or cares about the fans.  They are very bad people.  The industry is filled with bad people.  He said the only difference between he and them is he's not afraid to admit it.

Morrisey attacked Beale in the corner and worked him over.  Beale tried to fire back with rights but was beaten down with clubbing shots across the back.   Morrisey elevated Beale and dropped him across the buckles.  He beat Beale and kicked him off the buckles with a big kick to the mid-section.  Morrisey snatched him into a short-arm clothesline.

Morrisey nailed a big powerbomb and scored the pin.

Your winner, W. Morrisey!

Gia Miller interviewed Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo, Susan and Kimber Lee.  Lee said Wilde gets to make her in-ring return against her, with Lee's best friends at her side.  Deonna said it was the perfect opportunity for them to handle this on their own.  Lee agreed and said they've got this.  Gia asked Purrazzo if there was a reason she was going to stay in the best.  Purrazzo said she didn't like the insinuation she was afraid of Wilde and said she's not afraid of anyone and has beaten every single Knockout on the roster.  Havok showed up and stared her down and Purrazzo looked nervous, knowing she hasn't beaten Havok.

After commercial, Willie Mack was interviewed and asked about what W. Morrisey did to him at the PPV and then what he said tonight.  Mack said Morrisey took his downfall out on the fans, on Mack and Sam Beale.  Mack said he's challenging Morrisey to a match at Under Siege.

Kimber Lee with Susan vs. Taylor Wilde

Lee nailed a dropkick as Wilde charged her at the bell and then worked over her back.  She chopped away at Wilde in the corner, then smashed her face into the buckles.  Wilde was sent into the ropes but shoulderblocked her down and nailed a series of deep armdrags.  Wilde nailed a leaping leg lariat for a two count.  Lee cut her off and worked over Wilde, scoring several two counts.

When they returned from commercial, Lee was stomping away at Wilde.  She locked in a leg scissors and clenched her, working over Wilde.  She then locked in a rear chinlock, almost a Camel Clutch.  Lee went for a suplex but Wilde reversed it and went for a submission but Lee grabbed the ropes.  Wilde charged but was taken down with a drop toehold into the ropes.  Lee distracted the referee while Susan choked her against the ropes.  Wilde made a comeback and nailed a series of running clotheslines and a scored several two counts.

Taylor locked in an Indian Death Lock and scored the submission.

Susan attacked Wilde but Dashwood made the save.  Taylor seemed confused but was happy for the help.

Gia Miller grabbed Scott D'Amore outside of his office.  He didn't have an update on whether Kenny Omega yet.  This isn't the first time they've had to deal with a difficult champion.  That's why they are doing the Six-Way.  Moose showed up and wanted to know why he had to go through the qualifying match when  he's the only one on the roster who can go through The Good Brothers and Omega.  D'Amore told him he should look at it as a warm up match for Omega since he'll have no problem.  D'Amore went to walk off.  Moose grabbed him and said not to think that he should take advantage of their friendship because Moose will still hurt him.  James Storm walked by and said that he realizes he is interrupting something and that when Scott was part of Team Canada, he used to want to pop him too, but now he's an EVP for Impact Wrestling.  He said next week, they are going to fight next week.  Moose told D'Amore this was on him.

X-Division Champion Josh Alexander vs. Ace Austin with Madman Fulton.

They locked up and muscled their way around the ring.  Some damn good wrestling here.  Austin went for a springboard move but was nailed and placed on the top turnbuckle.  Alexander went for a superplex but was fought off.  Austin came off the ropes with a rana and nailed a kick in the corner.  Alexander came back with an old Doug Williams special, The Chaos Theory.  The competitors were too spent to capitalize and the referee almost counted them down.

They battled back and forth with kicks and forearms.  Austin took down Alexander, but the champ ducked a knockout kick.  Alexander nailed a spinning powerbomb for a close two count.  He went for the Jay-Driller but Aries blocked it.  Aries nailed a jumping knee to the jaw.  He charged with a spinning kick but was snatched into an anklelock.  Ace kicked his way out and nailed another series of kicks.  He covered Alexander, who kicked out at the last second.  The timing there was perfect.

They battled to the apron where Alexander nailed a slam onto the outside.  Fulton grabbed Alexander but was drilled and sent into the ring steps.  Alexander went for the anklelock on Austin, who kicked him and went for the Fold.  Alexander ducked but was nailed with kicks off the ropes, including a shot to the temple.  Austin drilled him across the knees with a splash and scored a close two count.  Austin set up for The Fold again but changed his mind and went for a Jay-Driller himself.  Alexander drove him backwards into the buckles.

Alexander came off with a rana but Alexander caught him with a powerbomb and locked the anklelock in, scoring the submission.

Your winner and still X-Division Champion, Josh Alexander!

Really damn fun match.

Don Callis wanted to know what time the jet was landing.  Johnny Swinger and Hernandez showed up.  Callis reminded him that he owes them $20,000.  Callis said if they can get a stooge to pick up Omega, they'll forgive the debt.

They showed the highlights of the new Knockouts Tag Team Champions being crowned.

Gia Miller interviewed Rachael Ellering and Jordynne Grace.  Jazz found the perfect fit.  Fire N' Flavya showed up and complained that they had beaten Grace all over the place but then Ellering showed up.  They said Ellering was a true star and might have even beaten them alone.  They want their rematch at Under Siege and promised to take their titles back.

Qualifying Match: Brian Myers vs. Matt Cardona

They brawled on the floor.  Cardona nailed a Side Russian Legsweep into the guard rail. He tossed Myers into the ring but Bryan cut him off and went after Cardona's knee.  He was knocked to the floor.  Cardona nailed a dropkick through the ropes but his knee was hurt.  He went for a neckbreaker but Myers escaped and shoved him into the ring steps.  He then elevated and slammed Cardona's knee into the steps as they went to commercial.

Back in the ring, Myers was attacking the knee relentlessly, trying to take Cardona down.  He locked in a kneebar but Cardona raked the eyes to break free.  Myers nailed him with a hard shot to the mid-section then slammed him into the buckles.  Cardona's knee buckled and he went down.  Myers pulled him to the ring post and smashed his knee into it several times.  Cardona finally pulled his legs forward and smashed Myers into the ring post.

Myers returned to the ring, where Cardona nailed him with a one-legged dropkick off the ropes.  He went for a Killswitch, but Myers nailed a chop block and hit a Flatliner for a two count.  They battled back and forth until Cardona nailed Radio Silence for the pin.

Your winner, Matt Cardona!

A really damn good match.  Cardona and Myers brought out the best in each other at the PPV and here.

They aired a new Violent by Design video.  Whoever is editing these is doing a hell of a job.  They are going to right the wrongs and everyone should be worried.

They announced New Japan Pro Wrestling star El Phantasmo will be debuting next week.  Matt Striker and D'Lo Brown were super excited about that.

Qualifying Match: Sami Callihan vs. Eddie Edwards

They locked up and Callihan took him down.  They had some nice reversals and faced off.  Then storyline was that the two were so familiar with each other - like Batman and The Joker - that they knew each other too well.  Callihan missed a sliding kick, allowing Edwards to hit a tope suicida to the floor.

Back in the ring, Callihan was sent into the corner but kicked Edwards off as he charged into the ring.  Edwards rained down with punches in the corner but Callihan slipped under and pulled him down, crashed Edwards into the buckles.  Callihan menaced Edwards and ripped at him in the corner.  Callihan slapped him and ripped at Edwards' eye.  He slapped on a crossface, trying force a submission.

Edwards fought his way to his feet.  Callihan grabbed a sleeper but Edwards dropped him into a jawbreaker.  Callihan went to the top but was dazed with a kick.  Eddie nailed a rana into the ring but was too spent to go for the cover.

Edwards finally recovered and drilled Callihan with a hard forearm.  Edwards fired back and they exchanged blows.  Edwards nailed a Blue Thunder Bomb but Callihan kicked up at the last second.  Callihan gained control and went for a piledriver but Kenny Omega and The Good Brothers hit the ring and attacked everyone.

No Contest.

The Good Brothers nailed Edwards and Callihan with a Magic Killer.  FinJuice hit the ring to try and make the save.  They were overwhelmed by Omega and The Good Brothers.

Don Callis took the mic said the fans and those who worked here wanted a celebration.  They wanted Kenny Omega in the building.  They should be careful for what they wish for, because they just got it.

They went off the air with Omega and friends celebrating in the ring.

Matt Striker said the company was under siege but it was going to fight back.
