Deadline.com reported today that Young Rock star Uli Latukefu, who plays the college-aged Dwayne Johnson in the NBC series has been cast for a role in Johnson's DC Comics film Black Adam, which is currently shooting in Atlanta, GA. There is no word yet whether Latukefu is playing a younger version of Johnson in Black Adam or another role altogether.
Black Adam is an ancient Egyptian predecessor of DC Comics' Shazam! who became corrupted after receiving his powers. He's one of the more powerful and popular DC Comic villains and will allow Rock to play a darker character. There were allusions made to him, but not by name, in DC's feature film adaptation of Shazam!
Last year during DC Comics' Fandome virtual gathering, Johnson revealed that DC Comics' original superhero team The Justice Society of America would be featured in the film, including the characters of Hawkman, The Atom Smasher, Dr. Fate and Cyclone.
Meanwhile, Young Rock will have its first season finale this Tuesday on NBC.
