NJPW WRESTLING SATSUMA NO KUNI RESULTS, MOXLEY VS. NAGATA, NOAH IN NAGOYA, AJPW AND MORE FROM JAPAN

New Japan Pro Wrestling sources indicate there should be clarity on the teased Jon Moxley versus Yuji Nagata match very soon.

New Japan posted a video on its social media earlier this month when Moxley first called out Nagata, leaving fans to speculate whether the match could take place on NJPW STRONG (similar to Moxley’s match against KENTA in February), one of New Japan’s events in Japan or even All Elite Wrestling’s Dynamite show.

New Japan held the first night of Wrestling Satsuma no Kuni today in Nishihara Shokai Arena.

New Japan has uploaded the forty-second edition of Hiroshi Tanahashi’s Ace’s HIGH autobiographical interview series. Topics discussed include how winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship for the first time changed his outlook, how he handled getting booed and advice he received from Keiji Mutoh.

It is also worth noting Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre announced the termination of its strategic alliance with Ring of Honor last night. New Japan has a working relationship with both companies.

HAYATA and Yoshinari Ogawa will attempt their fifth defense of the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships against Ikuto Hidaka and NOSAWA Rongai.

Kazuyuki Fujita will attempt his first defense of the GHC National Championship against Takashi Sugiura.

Keiji Mutoh will attempt his second defense of the GHC Heavyweight Championship against Masa Kitamiya.

Big Japan Pro Wrestling

The final two Ikkitousen Deathmatch Survivor matches will take place at Big Japan Pro Wrestling’s show on May 16 in Korakuen Hall.

The two matches are Masashi Takeda versus Ryuji Ito to determine the winner of C block and Akira Hyodo versus Isami Kodaka to determine the winner of D block.

The winner of Takeda versus Ito will win C block. If Hyodo defeats Kodaka in the last D block match, Hideyoshi Kamitani will win the block. If Kodaka defeats Hyodo, Kodaka will win the block.

The matches were previously scheduled to take place at Big Japan’s show on Korakuen Hall on April 26 but the show was cancelled due to the state of emergency. If the state of emergency is extended, the final two Ikkitousen Deathmatch Survivor matches will instead take place at Big Japan’s show on May 28 in Shin-Kiba 1st Ring.

The Ikkitousen Deathmatch Survivor semifinals and final were previously scheduled to take place on May 16, but those matches have now been postponed to an unannounced date. It is now the second consecutive year Big Japan’s Ikkitousen tournament, Ikkitousen Strong Climb last year and Ikkitousen Deathmatch Survivor this year, has been completely derailed by the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic.
