4/26 NEW JAPAN RESULTS FROM HIROSHIMA, JAPAN

By James Kurokawa on 2021-04-26 17:25:00

From Hiroshima, Japan:

Wow, the arena in Hiroshima is packed.  Social distancing and masks are still required but there seems to be a lot of fans in the building.

1 - Tiger Mask, SHO and YOH vs. Minoru Suzuki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado

Suzuki-Gun quickly attacked.   The King was the enforcer of this match, beating down his smaller opponents.

Kanemaru sent SHO into the body of Tiger Mask.   Kanemaru rolled up SHO for the pinfall win.

2 - DOUKI, Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi vs. Jado, Tanga Loa and Tama Tonga

DOUKI went for a dive on to Tama Tonga outside the ring.   Tama pulled out a ladder and DOUKI crashed headfirst into the ladder.   Taichi trapped Jado in a Stretch Muffler.  Tama brought the ladder in the ring and knocked the referee down.  He hit Taichi with the ladder.    The referee stopped the match and declared Suzuki-Gun the winners.

G.O.D. continued to beat down their opponents and left them laying.   Tanga Loa cut a promo on Taichi and ZSJ saying they will be looking at the lights in their respective single matches.

3 - Master Wato, Ryusuke Taguchi, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Dick Togo, Gedo, Taiji Ishimori, Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL

Tons of shenanigans in this match.   Yano hits low blows on Togo and Gedo.   EVIL hits a low blow on a Yano and puts a black hood on his head.   EVIL hits Everything is Evil on Yano.   EVIL puts Togo on top of Yano.   Togo gets the pinfall win.

Bullet Club celebrates as they leave.   Yano had to be assisted from the ring area.

4 - BUSHI and Shingo Takagi vs. Jeff Cobb and Will Ospreay

Great tag match!   All four men looked strong.  Ospreay and Cobb did some great double team moves.   Takagi back dropped Ospreay.  Cobb catches Ospreay in midair, then threw Ospreay at Takagi and hit an Oscutter.

Cobb took out Takagi with a Tour of the Islands.   Ospreay hit a Chelsea Grin on BUSHI and hit Storm Breaker on him for the pin.

The pairing of United Empire and Los Ingobernales de Japon on this tour has been awesome.

5 - SANADA vs. Aaron Henare

Big test for Henare.  This is his first high profile singles match, against SANADA, who Will Ospreay has said is one of the best wrestlers in the world.

Henare is wearing short trunks again.   He has been wearing pants tights since he has been with the United Empire.

Henare attacks at the bell, throwing SANADA into the ring guardrails.   Ospreay comes back to ringside to support his teammate.

Both men attempted submissions and grappling, then traded their signature moves.   SANADA locked Henare in Skull End.   Henare reversed out of the move and applied an abdominal stretch but on the mat.  Impressive move.   SANADA was able to reach the ropes for a break.   They battled on the top rope.   SANADA dropped Henare with a headbutt.  SANADA came off the top with a body press on Henare, but Henare was able to roll over, power up SANADA into a Samoan Drop.   Henare hit a Punt Kick to the chest of SANADA.   Ospreay was jumping up and down, cheering his teammate.   Henare hits a Rampage (Spear).   SANADA kicks out at two.   Both men trade reversals.   SANADA locks in Skull End.   SANADA goes to the top rope to hit a Moonsault.   Henare pulls up his knees as SANADA lands hard.   Both men trade elbows and strikes.   Henare goes for Streets of Rage.  SANADA rolls out.   SANADA hits a Tiger Suplex.   Henare kicks out.   The announcers were shocked.  SANADA hits a TKO and two Moonsaults.   SANADA pins Henare.

Great match!    Wow!   Henare was impressive here.

Ospreay helped to assist his teammate back to the locker room.

So much good things in this match.  Ospreay at ringside to help Henare told the audience that Henare was important.  Ospreay did not interfere in the match at all.  Henare escaped from Skull End and applied a submission hold, which showed he was prepared and was ready with a counter move.   Henare looked tough because SANADA needed to hit 3 big moves in a row to win.

It is unknown what kind of success the future holds for Henare (and United Empire) in New Japan, but you can point to match as SANADA and Ospreay made Henare a star.

6 - Tetsuya Naito vs. Great O-Khan

Match started slowly, with both men playing mind games.  They began grappling on the mat with leg locks and submissions.   Naito began attacking the braided hair of O-Khan by sitting on his back and pulling the braid.  Naito dragged O-Khan around ringside by the braid.   O-Khan slammed Naito on the ring floor, which turned the tide of the match.   O-Khan slowed the pace with a methodical attack on Naito's back.  Ospreay appeared back at ringside to cheer on O-Khan.  Naito picked up the pace with his Lucha moves.  O-Khan would counter with power moves and strikes.    Great match.

Naito threw elbows into the head of O-Khan.   O-Khan drops Naito with a big boot.  O-Khan goes for the Eliminator.  Naito avoids it.   O-Khan traps Naito in a standing cross face submission.  Naito is fading.   O-Khan lifts Naito up and hits a TTD.   O-Khan only gets a two count.  O-Khan goes for another Eliminator and Naito counters into a reverse DDT.  Naito with a two count.   Naito hits Destino.   Naito pins O-Khan.

Another great match.  Despite their losses, both Henare and O-Khan showed that they can hang with the top wrestlers in New Japan.

Ospreay and Cobb assist O-Khan out of the ring.   Naito addresses the Hiroshima crowd to send them home happy.
