PITTSBURGH PARK TO BE RE-NAMED IN HONOR OF BRUNO SAMMARTINO

By Mike Johnson on 2021-04-21 15:30:00

Ross Township in Pittsburgh will be re-naming Sangree Park after the late, great former WWWF Champion Bruno Sammartino this Friday, it has been announced.

Ross Commissioners President Dan DeMarco and Sammartino family members will speak at the unveiling of the new sign, re-christening the park.

Sammartino was the original superhero of the WWWF, the foundation of the company as it built itself into the promotion in the Northeast under Vince McMahon Sr.  He was considered one of the classiest performers ever in the history of the business and lived an amazing life that took him all the way from his family fleeing a Nazi invasion of his village in Italy to the United States, where he ascended into one of the most popular athletes of the era.  He passed away in April 2018.

Thanks to Terry H. and Mike Informer.
