NJPW STRONG REPORT: THE FINALS ARE SET, SORE WINNERS, AND MORE

We are in Los Angeles, California and your announcers are Shigeki Kiyono, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Katsuyori Shibata (in Japanese) or Kevin Kelly and Alex Koslov (in English).

Match Number One: Jordan Clearwater, Adrian Quest, Barrett Brown, and Misterioso versus Alex Coughlin, Kevin Knight, Karl Fredericks, and DKC

Brown and Coughlin start things off and Coughlin with a take down. Brown with a waist lock take down and Alex with a switch and they get back to their feet. Brown with a wrist lock and Alex with a reversal. Brown escapes. Jordan wants to tag in and Brown obliges but DKC tags in and he goes for a few shoulder tackles and Jordan stays on his feet. DKC stomps on the foot and takes Jordan down with a shoulder tackle. Quest and Knight tag in and Quest with a waist lock and arm drag. Quest with a drop kick and Knight with a slam for a near fall.

Knight with a European uppercut and DKC tags in and they hit a double hip toss for a near fall. DKC with a forearm and crucifix for a near fall. Brown breaks up a submission. Quest with kicks and an elbow. Brown tags in and they hit a doubel back elbow for a near fall. Brown kicks DKC. DKC with a punch and Brown with a forearm and slam for a near fall. Misterioso tags in and he kicks DKC in the leg and sends him into the turnbuckles. Misterioso with an Irish whip and clothesline and then he chokes DKC. Misterioso kicks DKC and then connects with a running double knee strike in the corner.

Misterioso gets a near fall. Misterioso kicks DKC and sends him into the turnbuckles. Jordan tags in and he kicks DKC in the corner. Jordan with more kicks and the referee warns him. Jordan gets a near fall. DKC with a chop and Jordan sends DKC into the corner and chokes him. Quest tags in and kicks DKC and hits a suplex but Alex comes into try to break up the cover. Quest with a forearm and Brown tags in. Quest wants to hit a double side Russian leg sweep but Brown wants to do a double suplex so they argue and DKC is able to backfist Brown and kick Quest. Jordan tags in and so does Fredericks. Fredericks with chops and then he hits a back breaker on Quest. Fredericks with a spinebuster and a running elbow into the corner. Fredericks with a belly-to-back suplex and elbow drop for a near fall. Jordan blocks a suplex and hits a neck breaker for a near fall. Brown tags in and they go back and forth with forearms. Knight tags in and Fredericks with a kick. Knight with a shoulder tackle and European uppercuts. Brown with kicks and a rolling elbow. Knight gets a near fall and follows with a sliding clothesline and splash for a near fall.

Jordan clotheslines Fredericks over the top rope. Alex with a shoulder tackle to Quest but Quest with a kick and head scissors take down. Quest with a double jump splash to the floor. DKC is sent to the apron and kicked to the floor by Misterioso. Misterioso with a senton to the floor. Brown with a flying kick to Knight for a near fall. Brown runs into a drop kick and Misterioso tags in and they hit a series of short shoulder tackles. Misterioso with a kick and lungblower for the three count.

Winners: Jordan Clearwater, Adrian Quest, Barrett Brown, and Misterioso

Despite winning the match, Brown has issues with his partners.

Match Number Two: Tom Lawlor versus Hikuleo in a New Japan Cup USA 2021 Semi Final Match

Lawlor with punches and Hikuleo pushes Lawlor away. Lawlor with more forearms and Hikuleo pushes Lawlor away. Hikuleo with a forearm and Lawlor with kicks and he tries for a drop toe hold but Hikuleo does not go down. Hikuleo with a forearm. Lawlor blocks a kick but Hikuleo with a forearm and Irish whip. Hikuleo misses a splash into the corner and Lawlor clips the knee. Lawlor with kicks to the hamstring and he goes for a figure four but Hikuleo with a punch. Lawlor goes for a crossface and Hikuleo gets Lawlor up and hits a Samoan drop.

Hikuleo kicks Lawlor in the head and chest. Hikuleo chokes Lawlor. Hikuleo chokes Lawlor and the referee warns Hikuleo. Lawlor with a chop and Hikuleo wants more. Hikuleo with a chop and Irish whip followed by a clothesline and a power slam. Hikuleo with a near fall. Hikuleo with forearms to Lawlor but Lawlor goes for the heel hook. Hikuleo sends Lawlor to the apron. Hikuleo follows and then they go to the floor. Hikuleo sends Lawlor into the ring post.

Hikuleo with a forearm and head butt followed by another forearm. Hikuleo runs Lawlor’s back into the apron. Lawlor blocks a kick on the apron and Hikuleo’s leg is caught in the ropes. Lawlor with kicks to the leg and a dragon screw leg whip. Lawlor goes for a figure four leg lock and Hikuleo blocks it so Lawlor with a heel hook. Hikuleo gets to the ropes to force a break.

Hikuleo goes to the floor and he pulls Lawlor to the apron. Hikuleo sends Lawlor into the ring post. Lawlor clips Hikuleo and applies a figure four leg lock on the stage. Lawlor with an elbow and Hikuleo sends Lawlor into the guardrails. Hikuleo gets back into the ring and Lawlor with an ankle lock from the floor. Lawlor with an inside cradle for the three count.

Winner: Tom Lawlor (Advances to Finals)

We go to the cleaning and disinfection break.

Match Number Three: Brody King versus Lio Rush in a New Japan Cup USA 2021 Semi Final Match

Rush and King has some words and then King pie faces Rush. Rush with some strikes as he avoids King. King sends Rush into the corner and King misses a splash. Rush trips King and Rush with a kick. Rush sends King over the top rope ot the floor and then King catches Rush and choke slams him onto the apron. King with a kick to Rush followed by a splash in the corner. King with a splash and biel. King with a Jericho cover for a near fall. King with a chop. Rush with a punch but King with a forearm and he chokes Rush.

King with an Irish whip that sends Rush sternum first into the turnbuckles. King chokes Rush in the corner. Rush with a punch but King with a forearm. King with a snap mare and he works on the neck and applies a seated abdominal stretch and follows with forearms across the chest. King gets a near fall. King with a forearm to the back.

Rush with kicks but King with a forearm and Rush goes down. King puts Rush on the turnbuckles and he chops Rush. Rush with a punch and kick from the turnbuckles. Rush falls to the apron and King with a kick to the chest. King goes to the apron. King goes for a power bomb but Rush gets to his feet and hits a handspring kick to send King to the floor. Rush with a cross body from the turnbuckles. Rush tries to pick up King but decides it is better just to return to the ring. King takes his time getting back into the ring and almost gets counted out. Rush with a frog splash to the back for a near fall. Rush tries to get King on his shoulders but he cannot do it. Rush with a series of kicks and he tries for the rebound cutter but King blocks it. King with a clothesline and a Ganso Bomb for the three count.

Winner: Brody King (Advances to Finals)

After the match, Brody King says size isn’t everything. That kid is tough. Lio Rush, you are a man of your word. You brought the fight to New Japan, but you brought that fight to the beast. Now I face Tom Lawlor in the finals. He is one of the most accomplished fighters in the company but I will bring a level of violence even MMA cannot show him.
