4/13 NJPW ROAD TO WRESTLING DONTAKU REPORT FROM KORAKUEN HALL

4/13/21 Results for New Japan's Road to Wrestling Dontaku 2021 -  Korakuen Hall, Tokyo:

Gabriel Kidd, SHO, and YOH vs. Minoru Suzuki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado.  YOH started jawing with El Desperado before the bell.   Suzuki-Gun immediately went after YOH's left leg.  Kidd showed some fire against Suzuki, but he was taken out by a wicked elbow from The King.     Kanemaru hit a low blow on SHO and rolled him up for a pin.    Desperado returned the trash talk after the match towards YOH and SHO.   

DOUKI, Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi vs. Jado, Tanga Loa and Tama Tonga.  Both teams attack and the match gets out of control quickly.  Taichi tries to choke everyone.   Wild fast paced match.    Tanga Loa hit Apeshit on DOUKI for the pinfall win.  Tama Tonga continued to fight Taichi after the match.  Tanga Loa and ZSJ trade submissions on the floor.   Bullet Club retreated to the locker room.  Taichi was frustrated and thew a chair and attacked a young lion. 

Tomoaki Honma, YOSHI-HASHI, Tomohiro Ishii and Hirooki Goto vs. Taiji Ishimori, Yujiro Takahashi, KENTA and EVIL.  The heat between CHAOS and Bullet Club, more specifically YOSHI-HASHI and KENTA has been building since the New Japan Cup.    Both teams started hot and beat the hell out of each other.  Action all over the ring.

EVIL traps Honma in the Scorpion Deathlock and gets a submission win.  KENTA uses YOSHI-HASHI's Bo Staff to beat down all CHAOS members after the match.  Bullet Club lays waste to their opponents.   

Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Dick Togo and Gedo.  Unusual booking here between Togo and Gedo, who are essentially managers, against Yano and Tanahashi.   With Tanahashi facing Jay White for the NEVER Openweight Title and Yano facing EVIL for the KOPW 2021 Trophy in a few weeks, this match serves to build heat for those respective matches at the end of the month.   Also, with Gedo and Yano, there will be comedy spots.  Togo and Gedo double teamed Yano by attacking his eyes and punching him in the gut.  They continued to rake Yano in the eyes, with Yano screaming in pain.    Yano has been using a hood to blind his opponent to incapacitate his opponent and get a win.   Yano has teased that he is the "King of Darkness" which is EVIL's nickname.  Yano pulled out the hood to blind Togo.  Togo avoided it and was sent crashing into Gedo.   Gedo took out brass knuckles and the referee stopped him.  Togo tried to choke out Yano with the piano wire.  Yano hit him with a low blow.   Yano pulled out a second hood, and covered Togo's head.  The lights suddenly went out.   There were some noises in the ring.   When the lights came on, a hooded Togo was on top of Yano who was out cold.    EVIL was at ringside.  Dick Togo gets the pinfall win.  After the match, Gedo attacked Tanahashi on the floor.  EVIL put the hood on Yano and stomped him repeatedly.

Good night for Bullet Club with three wins in a row.

BUSHI, SANADA, Tetsuya Naito and Shingo Takagi vs. Jeff Cobb, Aaron Henare, Great O-Khan and Will Ospreay.  This was a good match.   Very quick pace.   The larger United Empire was able to keep up with the speed of Los Ingobernales de Japon.     Cobb hit BUSHI with a Tour of the Islands for a pinfall win.  Ospreay took the mic and chastised the crowd in Korakuen.
