WWE WRESTLEMANIA 37 NIGHT TWO TIP SHEET

By Dave Scherer, Mike Johnson & Richard Trionfo on 2021-04-11 05:00:00

WWE will present Wrestlemania 37 on Peacock tonight from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Here’s our take on what will happen.

Night Two

Universal Champion Roman Reigns with Paul Heyman and Jey Uso vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Edge

Dave: I have really hated what they have done to Reigns' character over the last month, after really loving what they were doing.  They have done nothing to help Edge either.  So what the hell, since the rub that would have come from beating Reigns is gone, let's have Bryan pin Edge and he and Reigns can then fight over the belt.

Mike: Daniel Bryan saying it will likely be his last Wrestlemania in the media certainly pulls at the heartstrings as does Edge's return but it certainly does not feel like Edge has the same momentum the second year in a row.  Perhaps that will feel differently when he is out in front of the fans live.  I don't see a title change here.  Maybe WWE has some big swerve or surprise planned, but if it's me, I course correct what they have done with Roman lately and have him victorious.

Rich: If you diagrammed the progression of this match from Edge winning the Royal Rumble to Sunday, it would look like a Jackson Pollock paining. Roman told Edge to pick him and when Edge picked him, Roman told him he should have picked him. Daniel Bryan gets a title match and Edge isn’t happy even though Edge will never have his title match at Wrestlemania put in danger. Bryan loses at Elimination Chamber AND Fastlane but still gets another match. If this was booked by another company that ran in Central Florida regularly, it would probably be ripped apart. I think two of the three people in this match are on a downward trajectory and the one who isn’t probably takes the pin. If Edge hadn’t turned heelish, I would say that he wins. Give Roman the win and let him feud with Big E.

Raw Women’s Champion Asuka vs. Rhea Ripley

Dave: A month or so ago, Asuka was scared of Alexa Bliss.  She went from the Empress of Tomorrow to The Simpleton of Today.  May as well make a big splash with Rhea and have her come in and win the belt.

Mike: I say go all the way with Rhea.  They need top heels and they need names.  If Becky and Ronda are indeed on the way back, Rhea would be a hell of of a hand for them to go against.  This has all the ability to be one of the show stealers for the event if the same old soggy booking we have seen of late in WWE doesn't bite the talents in the rear.

Rich: If they want to make an immediate impact in the women’s division, you put the title on Rhea and then we see who she faces after a rematch (or six) with Asuka. Will it be Becky, Charlotte, or someone else who might not have a title after Takeover? Because they haven’t had months to ruin the easiest angle to build for this Women’s Title match, I am more interested in this match than the other one on Saturday night. This should be a very good match and I will not complain about who walks out of the match with the title, unless they are booked into a corner.

United States Champion Riddle vs. Sheamus

Dave: Sheamus has been having great matches so I am glad he is on the card.  Riddle has been a total goof, booked soooooo badly.  I would have Sheamus beat some seriousness into him and take the Title but I bet Vince does the opposite.

Mike:  LET SHEAMUS WIN.  In many ways, he's been the MVP of the Thunderdome era from a work perspective and truly deserves the title run.  Riddle is a hell of hand once you ignore his insipid character, so I'm hoping we see more of the wrestler and less of the scooter maven goofball.

Rich: Based on the way he has been booked, I want this to be a replay of Sheamus’ Wrestlemania 28 match where it is Riddle turning around into a Brogue Kick and a new champion. Maybe that kick can knock some sense into the Riddle character. I guess this is better than having Sheamus added to the Drew/Lashley match to eat the pin.

Intercontinental Champion Big E vs. Apollo Crews in a Nigerian Drum Match

Dave: Unless they are moving E up to challenge for the big belt, which I don't think is happening yet, he should win in this goofy stip match.  Crews' new gimmick and accent aren't going to take off so there is no reason to put him over here.

Mike:  I don't see them giving Crews his own stipulation match, only to lose it.  Crews as the champion is what I foresee here.

Rich: They gave these two men a horrible finish and very little time at Fastlane so this was the obvious result because even though Crews lost clean, he has to be given multiple rematches because that is the WWE Way. The official explanation for this match should be entertaining when we get it on Sunday during the pre-match video package. If they decide to put the title on Crews, I hope this means that Big E moves up to the Universal Title picture since he should have been there months ago. I am hoping for there to be drums around the ring and that they play during the entire match like it is a New Jack match.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler vs. Winners of Fatal Four Way Match on Night One

Dave: Honestly, whoever wins on Saturday I see losing on Sunday.

Mike: I can see them doing a switch and then Nia and Shayna getting the belts back on Raw.

Rich: It should be the Riott Squad winning the tag titles with Red Shoes Reggie pissing off Shayna and costing her the match (because Nia never takes the pinfall when they lose). Of the other teams in the match, I don’t see any of them winning. However, they will probably have Naomi and Lana win if they are the victors on Saturday. If this segment of the show ends with Reginald being tied into a pretzel, it is a win win for the fans.

Randy Orton vs. The Fiend

Dave: There are only losers here, especially those of us forced to watch this.  Randy burned The Fiend to death so Fiend should get revenge.  And that sentence is exactly why we are all losers when we have to watch this dreck.

Mike: Bray has to win, right?   After all, he's the babyface avenging his being burned alive, like the old movie Darkman! Maybe they will brawl into the back, John Cena will magically re-appear and hit Randy with the F-U.  Probably not but hey,  one can hope.  I say Bray.

Rich: If there was ever a ‘bathroom break’ match, this might be the ultimate flush it and forget about it match. They can’t kill Bray’s character and they can’t kill this feud. Will they sink Alexa further into the abyss (not Chris Park) or will she escape the stench of this match? Fiend wins because someone has to. If there is a “Fight Forever” chant during this match, you may not see coverage for a little while because I will be going to Raymond James to stop whoever does it. This is my pick for Match of the Night for Night Two based on these thoughts.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

Dave: Sami Zayn was put on the Earth to lose, and tonight will be no exception.  Down goes Sami, Down goes Sami.

Mike:  Owen wants to dive off a pirate ship.  I say it happens and he still loses.  Then, Owens can beat up the YouTuber

Rich: The feud that keeps coming back every few years, but now that it is fresh and we have a switch with Kevin as the face and Sami as the heel, it should be an interesting match. Both men will give everything and they will make sure that they are satisfied with what they are going to give the fans. Kevin should win the match and then maybe he will give Logan Paul a stunner.
