SHAWN MICHAELS DISCUSSES WRESTLEMANIA MEMORIES: RETIRING FLAIR, 'FINDING PEACE' VS. THE UNDERTAKER AND MORE ON ESPN+S' SPORTSNATION

By Mike Johnson on 2021-04-07 09:25:00

Shawn Michaels appeared on ESPN+s' SportsNation, discussing Wrestlemania Memories with former WWE broadcaster Arda Ocal on Monday 4/5.

Ocal brought up the Ladder match at Wrestlemania X against Razor Ramon and having his tights pulled down by Ramon.  Michaels laughed and said that was a freebie.  It was a tailor-made moment and a chance to moon the world.  Ocal then brought up the splash off the ladder.  Michaels said ignorance is bliss and that they didn't have the foresight to know how much that moment would be replayed.

Ocal brought up the Ric Flair retirement match.  Michaels said that bout was his love letter to wrestling and to Ric Flair.  Flair took him back to being that kid who first loved pro wrestling and with that match, he wanted to bring everyone back to that moment.  Everyone got emotional and that's what he wanted to do, bring out the emotion.

Michaels was asked about whether Wrestlemania XXV against The Undertaker was the best Wrestlemania match of all time.  Michaels said that all he knows is that was the match where he knew he could "leave it all behind" after the match was done.  He never felt peace after a match like he did with that match and that's why he made the decision he made.  He felt he had finally accomplished the goal and felt at such peace and rest.  He felt he would be crazy if he messed with that.
