EDGE TALKS WRESTLEMANIA 37, WHY HE DIDN'T WANT TO END UNDERTAKER'S STREAK AND MORE: EDGE ON ESPN+'S SPORTSNATION REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2021-04-06 06:34:00

WWE Hall of Famer Adam "Edge" Copeland appeared on ESPN+'s Sportsnation this morning to promote Wrestlemania 37 and his main event bout facing WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan this Sunday in Tampa, Florida.

Copeland spoke with former WWE announcer Arda Ocal, discussing Wrestlemania memories.  Ocal said the crowning moment was the spear on Jeff Hardy at Wrestlemania X-17.  Copeland said there's a nano-second where he almost went too soon and it could have gone sideways really quickly with Hardy and himself coming down wrong.  In the moment when they landed and they were OK, he looked at Hardy and said, "We did it."

He was asked whether he was ever in contention to end the Undertaker's streak when they headlined Wrestlemania 24.  He said there was discussion and he didn't think it was right and he doesn't know the streak should have ever ended until the end of Undertaker's career and even then, he isn't sure it should have happened.  He felt if it shouild have ended, it should have been someone they could make with that moment and later said Roman Reigns was the guy who should have ended it.

When asked about the Universal title bout, he said when you look at each of them, it's mind-boggling this is happening.  He said just take away the characters and think about each of them individually and what they have been through personally, it's really something special they are all in this moment together.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon will be on tomorrow.
