Beyond Wrestling “Fool’s Paradise”

4/1/21 - Worcester, MA

Streaming live on IWTV.live

OHHHHHHHHHH OH OH OHHHHHHH!

WHOAAAAAAAA OHHHH OH OH  OHHHHHHHH!

It has been OVER A YEAR since Beyond has run anything from their home at the White Eagle in Worcester, MA. We have a limited number of fans in attendance. Temp checks and masks required. I’m not there but tuned in on IWTV. The card is a complete mystery. Paul Crockett & Sidney Bakabella are on commentary. LET’S GOOOOOOOOO!

We are LIVE!!! Rich Palladino and the crowd are going through chorus after chorus of “Bro Hymn” which is eventually cut off by that piece of trash pond scum, “Club” Cam Zagami. “F*** YOU CAM”, says the crowd. Cam is ready to introduce his next club VIP.....hit the music....it’s SLADE?!?

Match 1: SLADE vs “Club” Cam Zagami

SLADE with a chokeslam at the bell and a one-handed pin. SLADDE wasn’t a VIP in Club Cam but he went through the velvet rope like it only existed in Cam’s mind. F*** you Cam, indeed.

Winner: SLADE

The Shook Crew is out at ringside to face down SLADE. SLADE stands his ground as MAX CASTER makes his beyond return to join his Shook Crew friends in a 3 on 1 beat down of SLADE. BEAR COUNTRY HITS THE RING TO BREAK THIS UP! SLADE grabs the mic to tell Shook Crew to take on Bear Country. SLADE though? He wants Max Caster. The Crew retreat to back but this is coming later.

Match 2: “The Air Pod God” Richard Holliday vs “Dirty Daddy” Chris Dickinson

Trading wrist locks, Dickinson breaks away with a shoulder tackle. Reversing hip tosses and Dickinson clubs a lariat. Holliday is trying to match Dickinson’s intensity but Daddy is AMPED UP. Holliday tries a double axe handle but gets gut checked. Dickinson with a dragon screw after a rollup attempt by Holliday. Holliday dumps Dickinson to the apron and clotheslines him to the floor. Holliday stomping out the hands and chest of Chris. Holliday getting a little taunt happy and Dickinson with a judo toss, another dragon screw but walks into a northern lights for two. Holliday with a neckbreaker for another two ad a running elbow drop. Holliday misses a knee drop and elbow drop and Dickinson is starting to find his second wind with a strikes battle. Back Brain Kick and a German suplex from Dickinson! Dickinson with a series of clotheslines and he is VERY ALIVE right now. Holliday squirms out of the DVD into a sleeper but Dickinson with a back suplex for two. Dickinson drags Holliday into a deep STF but Holliday makes it to the bottom rope. Holliday with a stealth eye rake and DDT, almost gets the tainted win. Holliday hits a superkick, can’t hit the 2008 and settles for a spinebuster for two. Dickinson tries a superplex but Holliday headbutts him off, flying clothesline for two! Holliday raining clubbing blows down on Dickinson but the Dirty Daddy with a flash brain buster. Only a two count. Trading pin attempts, Dickinson slaps on a knee bar with panics Holliday. Transition to the STF but Holliday gets the rope again. Dickinson with a dragon screw to the apron. Dickinson punishing Holliday’s legs on the apron. Dickinson to the top with a missile dropkick! Holliday back with a lariat and a sitout powerbomb outta nowhere! Kick out! Holliday is screaming in Dickinson’s face....he tries a punt kick, Dickinson scouts it and puts on a figure-four in the center. Dickinson with a pair of dragon screws and slaps on a death lock and Holliday has to tap out.

Winner: Chris Dickinson

AWESOME. This was an epic, main event level clash. Holliday weathered the early storm and started to work an effective gameplay against the Dirty Daddy. Dickinson worked that knee into dust, making the finish inevitable. Great stuff. An emotional Chris Dickinson thanks the ground emphatically. I feel you, man.

Match 3: Masha Slamovich vs “That 90’s Chick” Erica Leigh

Leigh is making her Beyond debut tonight. Masha runs her over with a dropkick at the bell. Leigh with a rebound big boot and float over high knee. Masha sends her into the rope, kicks the rope and blasts her in the face with another kick. Big PK puts Leigh on the defensive. Leigh fights back but Masha blasts her with another kick. Masha smiles as she slams her face off the mat repeatedly. Leigh delivers a series of slaps but Masha with a snap suplex and a running high knee in the corner. Masha misses a yakuza kick and Leigh germans her out of the corner, running knee as she sits up. Leigh with a german bridge pin for two. Masha posts Erica and she’s looking dazed. Masha drags her back in, calls for the end, and hits a piledriver for the definitive win.

Winner: Masha Slamovich

Leigh looked great in her debut tonight, giving Masha way more trouble that Kaia McKenna did last week at Signature Series. But what is next for the Russian Dynamite?

Match 4: “The Coastal Elite” Logan Easton Laroux vs Robo The Punjabi Lion

Laroux is easily hateable. Robo is all power but Laroux uses his finesse to walk all over Robo. That doesn’t last and the Lion starts administering the beating. Snap powerslam for two. Laroux trips Robo into the top rope and he swarms on his stunner opponent. Dropkick but Laroux only gets a one. Snap suplex for another pin attempt. Robo trying to fire up but Laroux reversing, hitting a clothesline. He tries a slingshot back in but Robo throws a knee. Atomic drop, pop up and drop, superkick! Robo with a two count! Robot tries a big knee but Laroux reverses into a german with a superkick chaser. Robot with a headbutt, running knee and a falcon arrow to secure the pin.

Winner: Robo the Punjabi Lion

Laroux did a great job using his speed to avoid Robo’s power offense but once he got hit? Goodnight Sweet Privileged Prince. Like I said in the Signature Series writeup, Robo improves more every time I see him. He’s due for a breakout moment soon.

Match 5: “The Dimepiece” Aaron Rourke vs Willow Nightingale

The former Season 2 Discovery Gauntlet standout is back! He starts mouthing off right away saying that Nightingale belongs “in Solo Darling’s shadow”. Willow stomps him out for that offense. Rourke gets a few shots in but gets clotheslined and slammed. Nightingale with a cloverleaf/face stretch (Bakabella coins it “The Willow’s Peak”). Rourke has an opening and chokeslams Willow into the buckles, with a follow up high knee for two. Rourke taunting Willow and the crowd. He tries to back suplex but Willow with a back slide for two. Small package? Two. Trading shots, Willow gets gut punched, bounced off the rope and into a blue thunder bomb for two. Rourke getting frustrated and in the ref’s face. Rourke with a bow and arrow and tosses Willow to the mat by her hair. Rourke handsprings into the corner but eats knees. Trading forearms. Rourke comes off the ropes but runs into a Pounce. Willow with clotheslines and a spinebuster for two. Rourke dodges Willow, hits the handspring forearm and a split leg moon split for two. Rourke wants an apron piledriver but Willow hits a DVD to the hardest part of the ring. Willow to the second, shotgun dropkick from there. Two count! Trading forearms, Willow tries an Oklahoma stampede, Rourker slips it but walks into a superkick. WIllow with a gutwrench sitout powerbomb for the pin.

Winner: Willow Nightingale

Super competitive match here. Rourke is just such an a****** you have to love him. He did hit on something when he said Willow was working in Solo Darling’s shadow...the majority of her Beyond return from injury has been in tag action so she needed a long form singles bout to re-establish that the babe with the power is indeed a FORCE to be reckoned with. Mission accomplished.

Match 6: “The Prize: Alex Price vs Teddy Goodz

One of New England’s best up and comers vs one of our longtime vets. Price attacks right before the bell, lays in a few chops but Goodz with a big back drop and a body slam. Goodz comes running but popped up face first into the buckles. Price gets Goodz on the second rope and flies right into him. Price dropping stomps, Goodz fires back but Price with a kick to the gut. Price wants to finish but Goodz with a rolling knee and a cutter. Goodz with a series of running elbows and a 10-count elbow on the top. An iconoclasm (thanks for the term, Sidney) for two. Goodz comes running but Price rakes the eyes and rolls up Goodz with two hands of tights for the pin.

Winner: Alec Price

Price is all sorts of wild squirmy energy. The crowd loves Goodz. This was a lot of fun to watch and Goodz got the “Please Come Back” from the Worcester faithful after this wrapped.

Match 7: Sea Stars (Ashley Vox & Delmi Exo) vs Ephemera (Edith Surreal annnnd......)

Where IS Edith’s tag team partner, St. Jackson Dupont? The winner of the Cassandro Cup runs to the back briefly and brings out Solo Darling to team with her tonight. Solo and Vox kick it off, Ashley almost locks in a fishhook early. Hart attack on the tag into a boston crab but Solo gets out. Solo with an X factor, a chest kick and introduces Delmi into the mat. Solo tries the honey steamer but has to settle for a northern lights for two. Delmi has Solo up for a Samoan drop but Surreal shakes them up and Solo gets a crucifix pin attempt. Edith in to tie up the neck of Exo, using her legs to wrap her up into pin attempts and arm submissions. Solo in and hits the honey steamer. Edith tries to follow up but Vox cuts it off. Exo is staggering and tags in her sister. Vox with a flying clothesline to Edith but can’t fishhook Surreal with her mask. Surreal with a big bulldog for two. Solo in but gets worked by the Sea Stars. Superkick from Vox for a two count. Backdrop/senton combo for another two. Surreal cuts off the double teams and sunset flips Exo into Vox. Solo with the honey steamer to Vox and Surreal with the EDT for two. Delmi tags in to duke it out with Edith. Delmi gets Edith up but Milk Chocolate come out from the back, showing that they have St. Jackson Dupont held hostage. Edith is distracted and Exo rolls up Edith for the win.

Winners: Sea Stars

Solo and Edith check on Dupont, left at then entryway by Milk Chocolate. The Sea Stars realize their victory is semi-tainted. This had a couple of awkward moments but the crowd loves both of these teams. Edith Surreal showed WHY she’s first up for Lee Moriarty to defend the IWTV title against next week in Tampa.

Match 8: Alexander James vs “Weapon X” Matt Makowski

Makowski went 3-0 over the three of the best workers on the indies. James is good buuuuuuuuuuut.....he takes the mic to introduce himself to the crowd. The crowd doesn’t care. He goes through his hit list of contests with Thatcher, Gulak, WALTER....the crowd still doesn’t care. As a former trainer as WxW in Germany, he refuses to let Makowski be the next great technician to come out of Beyond Wrestling. A good promo and Makowski comes right in. Makowski gets the wait lock but James grabs the rope. The grapple more and Makowski forces James to the ropes again. Makowski with the takedown but James isn’t panicked, even when Makowski goes for his cross armbar. Makowski gets a triangle but James gets the ropes. James with a headbutt and cravat to control....but Weapon X breaks. Out to land a series of high kicks. Makowski tries his slingshot transition but James blocks that and finally drops Matt. James raining blows and slams him, forcing a kick out. James slows it down further and tears at the arms, wrists and fingers of Matt Makowski (Thatcher WOULD be proud). James misses a top rope splash...Makowski gets the head and lands knees. Showtime kick from Matt Makowski!!! Makowski tries the cross arm breaker again but James slips out. Makowski slips in a knee bar, James tries to counter but Makowski wraps up both knees of James. Trading slaps & forearms in the submission. Makowski comes up into a sharpshooter but James struggles to the rope. Makowksi has a torture rack but James hits a ripcord back elbow. Powerbomb into a Boston Crab.....Makowski rolls out but eating stomps. James with a cloverleaf into a STF, Makowski pushes to the bottom rope and breaks it. Makowski up. And hits a spinning back kick.....Up into the torture rack and spins him down into the cross arm breaker.....James slips out but falls into a rear naked choke. James flips into a pin attempt, Makowski breaks it. James tries his on sub but Matt turns it into a pin and then transitions to the cross arm breaker and this one does it. Alexander James taps!

Winner: Matt Maowski

Worcester booed the hell out of Alexander James but boy, he did show up to impress and put on a match that would have made Tim Thatcher smile one of his good murder smiles. A great technical clinic to start and then increasingly epic levels of aggression as the match progressed. Makowski solidifies that his GRRR perfect run was no fluke.

Match 9: Shook Crew (Bryce Donovan & Bobby Orlando w/ Bobby Jr) vs Bear Country (Bear Bronson & Bear Boulder)

Beyond is Bear Country! The big boys are all smiles as they soak up the cheers of the Worcester crowd. Boulder shoves Orlando right into the corner. Orlando tries a shoulder block but crashes to the mat. Boulder with a huge press slam to the mat. Bronson into to crush Orlando with a huge splash and lariat. Donovan in to get his own beating. Bronson laying in some loud chops that crumble Donovan into a screaming pile of pain. Donovan dodges a charging bear and this is his opening. Orlando gets some damage in on a ref distraction, letting Donovan hit a dropkick into the tree of woe. Orlando with a Bobby slam to Bronson. The Shook Crew takes it to Bronson but Donovan makes the mistake to LITERALLY poke the bear. Bronson clears house and tags Boulder. The bigger bear throws Shook Crew around, crushes them with a corner charge. Double powerslam to the Shook Crew. Boulder going for a moonsault? Donovan grabs the leg and Orlando chop blocks him. Ref is distracted and Boulder’s leg get hit with a chair. Boulder is hurting and Shook Crew has their big chance here. Boulder tries to toss them both but his leg gives out, double DDT and Bronson dives in to break up the pin. Bronson tags in to throw hands (paws?) And suplexes. Bronson tries a Mack driver but Donovan has it scouted. Bronson spears Orlando but eats a flying clotheslines from Donovan. Ripcord from Donovan for two on Bronson. Boulder is finally back to the tag rope. Shook Crew goes for the Elevator Drop on Bronson but they get caught up in taunting. Boulder chokeslams the Shook Crew together. Backpack Cannonball to Shook Crew. Bear Country hits an Elevator Drop (with Bobby Jr) to Shook Crew for the pin.

Winners: Bear Country

Welcome home, Bear Country!  Max Caster is out to help his boys out but SLADE ambushes him from behind. Bear Country comes out to drive Shook Crew to the back. Shook Crew ALMOST got steam rolled here but they started to execute on a solid gameplan, with that unique flavor of disrespect they are good at, that nearly got them the win. But again....Worcester is Bear Country. This was a lot of fun.

Match 10: “Platinum” Max Caster vs SLADE

SLADE with a sleeper, Caster escapes with a clothesline. SLADE no sells and has one of his own. SLADE tossing Caster corner to corner repeatedly. Caster with a drop toe hold and works the knee and ankle...this would work against a normal human but SLADE sits up through it and chokes his way out. SLADE with clubbing blows and an exploder suplex. Caster tries to work the shoulder but SLADE is just walking through this. Caster fires up with shots that stagger SLADE briefly...i said briefly. SLADE is huge to put the boots to Max. SLADE comes running and posts himself. SLADE tearing at the arm from the floor. SLADE picks him up but Caster picks him into an arm lock. Caster knows this is his chance, and causes as much pain to the arm as he can. Big shots, toss to the mat, PK, big back suplex. SLADE throws a shot here and there but Caster is actually breaking down the man from Rikers. SLADE powers out of a submission and tries to cave in Caster’s chest with stomps. Max puts a headlock on SLADE and hits another PK....SLADE eats it and comes back like a horror villain. Max with a whip to the injured shoulder. Max to the top but SLADE is back up to powerslam him off of there. Two clotheslines and a huge chokeslam! SLADE makes the cover late but only a two. SLADE is biting his own arm to bring it back to life. SLADE tries a sleeper but Caster with a butterfly suplex into the buckles. Caster wants to post SLADE’s legs but he gets pulled into the post instead. SLADE stalking with more strikes, Caster is trying to walk it off. Fighting on the apron, SLADE trying to german Caster to the floor. Max rakes the eyes. Caster gets a fireman’s carrry on the apron but SLADE kicks off and they both come tumbling down. SLADE makes the count at nine, Caster swarms and tearing at the arm, locks it up but SLADE cannot quit. SLADE still breathes and tries to choke his way out. Caster with a series of stomps and wants a superplex to finish this off. SLADE wakes up and slams Caster off the top. Shook Crew hits the ring, but SLADE runs them off with a chair. The ref takes the chair, allowing Caster to hit a pop up low blow, a brain buster, and a flying elbow drop for the pin. BOOOOOOOOOOO!

Winner: Max Caster

It took three men and a chair but Shook Crew found a way to beat the man from Rikers island. Commentary continued to talk about SLADE like he’s Jason Voorhees or Michael Myers, and he was able to keep up that role through the contest, eating shot after shot as Caste was able to grind him down into a competitive matchup. Caster is another person who has improved by leaps and bounds over the last year (but he’s had ways to hone his craft on a weekly basis). I think the only downside here is he didn’t get to freestyle on SLADE.

Main Event: Wheeler Yuta vs “The Afropunk” Trish Adora

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I love Grumpy Yuta and very excited for Adora to make her proper Beyond debut. Yuta comes running but Adora with quick rollup attempts out of the gate. Lockup and Yuta with the takedown into the headlock but Adora transitions to the head scissors. Yuta keeps trying to grapple but Adora has the key for every lock up, frustrating him with mocking taunts. Yuta regroups on the floor and comes back for a test of strength....Adora twists him down into a big bow and arrow stretch. Yuta is getting reaaaaalllllly mad. Some quick escape and reversal sequences but the result is the same, Adora is staying ahead of the master technician in Yuta and stretching him.  Yuta escapes and running into a big boot. Yuta with a shot that stuns her, big dropkick and Yuta is finally in control. Adora tastes the buckles, tries to fight out but gets slammed for two. Yuta walks off the frustration but Trish drags him into an armbar. Yuta with a choke back stretch and a basement dropkick. Adora comes in and Yuta grabs in a single leg crab. Yuta gets caught up in the fans booing him and Adora fires up with big strikes. Yuta sends Adora into the buckle and stomps her out for a near fall. Yuta with that Drew Gulak style backpack stretch but Adora out with a crossbody, stingersplash and a back breaker for two. Trish dropping shots to the back as she’s firing up. Back to the bow and arrow but Yuta powers out and gets a bridge pin attempt. Olympic slam for two! Yuta raining strikes from the mount, he’s furious. Elbow drop from the top. Kick out! Fast trading strikes, Yuta with an atomic drop and enziguri. Back fist and bridge german for two! Yuta throws her down with a handful of hair. Trish rebounds and hits the Lariat Tubman! Yuta gets the rope. Trish with the Cattle Mutilation, Yuta rolls out. Adora comes in and Yuta rakes the eyes. He picks Adora up into his standing held cloverleaf. Trish Adora is forced to tap.

Winner: Wheeler Yuta

“Wheeler Yousuck” chants the crowd. Yuta says that he SHOULD be the number one contender for the IWTV championship right now since he has a victory over current champ Lee Moriarty. Yuta throws down the gauntlet for the next Beyond show in Worcester. He refuses to leave Worcester next month without the IWTV championship. I loved the energy here of Yuta being constantly frustrated by Adora, who may have watched a Yuta match or two in preparation for this. Great main event energy in a show with several matches that COULD have upstaged it.

And that’s it for “Fool’s Paradise”. Look, I’m highly biased here. This is my home promotion and I HAVE MISSED THIS. From the opening rounds of ”Bro Hymn” to Rich Palladino feeding off the room in his announcing to that specific Beyond crowd energy to Dickinson tearing up in a promo to Crockett and Bakabella fighting on commentary to specific humans I know in that crowd (YES, EVEN JORDAN) to....just all of it. This was only 20% capacity, I think? The room felt like 100%. I MISS THIS and I cannot wait to get a vaccine in my arm so I can feel the energy in that room again sometime in the hopefully near future.

Will you like this show? God, I hope so. The crowd is electric. THe workers are clearly rejuvenated, feeding off that energy. Half the matches had epic main event feels. Check out Dickinson/Holliday, Rourke/Nightingale, James/Makowski, Caster/SLADE & Yuta/Adora. At that point, you might as well watch all of it. It’s a solid 3 hour show but with 11 matches, it’s worth the time.

Beyond is gearing up for next week’s trip to Tampa with “Time Capsule” on Saturday 4/10, a throwback show featuring many of Beyond’s early stars (including the returns of Eric Corvis, Dave Cole and JAKA). Beyond returns to Worcester on 5/6 with “Project Reality”. If Yuta gets his way, maybe we’ll see him get his shot against Lee Moriarty? We’ll see! Until then!

BEYOND. IS. BACK. <3
