CNN.com is reporting the passing of G. Gordon Liddy at the age of 90 this evening.
Liddy was a former FBI agent who was later linked to the infamous Watergate burglaries of the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the summer of 1972. Liddy was indicted and later convicted of burglary, conspiracy and wiretapping the building. He served four and a half years in prison after President Jimmy Carter commuted his 20-year prison sentence to eight years.
He went on to become a well known radio personality and security consultant, also dabbling in acting and writing.
Liddy appeared at Wrestlemania 2 as a celebrity judge for the Mr. T vs. Roddy Piper boxing match at the Nassau Coliseum in 1986, where he was booed out of the building upon being introduced. NBA star Darryl Dawkins and legendary musician Cab Calloway also served as celebrity judges that evening, a year where Wrestlemania was held at three sites and featured an overloading number of celebrities across the country. Obviously, it was a ceremonial role since the bout was worked, ending with Piper's disqualification when he slammed Mr. T.
PWInsider.com expresses our deepest condolences to the Liddy family.
