HANA KIMURA'S MOTHER LAUNCHING ANTI-CYBERBULLYING NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION

By Oliver Taylor on 2021-03-30 08:49:00

Hana Kimura’s mother Kyoko Kimura is launching an anti-cyberbullying nonprofit organisation.

Among the aims of the organisation, Kyoko is appealing to the government to help victims of slander and libel. She wants social media etiquette to be taught at every level of schooling from elementary school to university.

Using the DeepL translator from Japanese to English, Kyoko writes in the ‘About’ section of the organisation’s website:

“Last May, I lost my beloved daughter, Hana.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my family, friends, players
fans, and so many people
Please accept my sincere condolences.
There have been many reports on the news.
I don’t want to pretend that the flowers never happened.
I wanted to clarify my responsibility.?
I was interviewed as many times as my health allowed.
I was also interviewed by a congressman.
The law is changing little by little.
And yet, even today, on social media, we see the same thing.
I see the same lynching on the Internet.
It’s the same old scene.
Every time I see it, I feel sadness for the loss of the flower, pain.
The pain, the helplessness
I lost a flower
I feel as if I’ve lost my heart at the same time
I wondered if there was anything I could do for the flower.
In order to prevent such a sad thing from happening again
I decided to raise my voice against various problems
I thought
I decided to do everything I could to bring the world closer to the kindness that Hana wanted.
I’ve decided to do everything in my power to bring the world closer to the kindness that Hana wanted.?
At the same time, it’s also my reason for living.
One of them is
One of my goals is to reduce the number of victims and perpetrators of slander and libel.
I would like to do various educational activities with the goal of reducing the number of victims and perpetrators of slander.
I would also like to raise awareness of the problem of social networking by collecting donations from people all over the world.
We would also like to raise awareness of the problems of social networking
We hope that our activities will become more meaningful.
I hope that this idea will be conveyed to everyone.”

The organisation itself is described as:

“The Internet has become an indispensable tool in our daily lives, but with its rapid development, social networking services (SNS) have become a serious social problem where people who cannot see each other’s faces talk badly about each other, harming the honor and feelings of others, and violating the privacy of others by revealing their personal information and private lives.
With this in mind, we have been conducting educational activities such as information dissemination and lectures focusing on SNS education.
With this in mind, we have been disseminating information, holding lectures and other educational activities focusing on SNS education. In the future, we will further expand the above activities and create useful educational materials for SNS education, as well as educate students and pupils at elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, universities and other educational institutions nationwide on how to avoid becoming a victim or a perpetrator of SNS. In addition, in order to help victims of social networking services, which are becoming increasingly serious, we will actively appeal to the government to help victims of slander and libel on the Internet. We need support from the government and corporations, as well as participation and support from the general public to carry out these activities. In order to gain further support, we have decided to establish a non-profit organization with a higher level of public interest and credibility.
We would like to ask for your understanding and cooperation in this endeavor.”

The organisation’s website can be viewed here. There is also a function to add a #EndTheHate filter to a picture to use on social media and support the organisation.
