The New York Times reported on NBC Universal's streaming service Peacock removing questionable past WWE content as they import the WWE Network's 17,000 hours onto Peacock as part of a five-year pact today.
While a number of other outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter, Variety and The New York Daily News had picked up the story since PWInsider.com first broke the changes, The New York Times article is unique in that it featured statements from WWE and Peaccock.
The New York Times article noted:
NBCUniversal said that Peacock was “reviewing WWE content to ensure it aligns with Peacock’s standards and practices,” as it does other shows and films on the platform.
“Peacock and WWE are reviewing all past content to ensure it fits our 2021 standards,” WWE said.
As PWInsider.com reported last week, the WWE Network itself has also edited the same past content off their own streaming network to reflect the changes.
