DR. FATE CAST FOR THE ROCK'S BLACK ADAM FILM

By Steven Fernandes on 2021-03-24 23:24:00

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Pierce Brosnan will be joining the cast of Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam playing the role of Dr. Fate. Brosnan is the last key member cast for the project.   It will be the first time the character, a master of the mystic arts, has been featured in a DC Comics film.

Johnson commented on the announcement:

The Rock is playing the title role, Black Adam, an ancient Egyptian predecessor of DC Comics' Shazam! who became corrupted after receiving his powers. He's one of the more powerful and popular DC Comic villains and will allow Rock to play a darker character.  There were allusions made to him, but not by name, in DC's feature film adaptation of Shazam!   Originally, Black Adam was slated to start shooting this summer with a December 2021 release, but obviously, everything has been pushed back in regard to production due to COVID.

Last year during DC Comics' Fandome virtual gathering, Johnson revealed that DC Comics' original superhero team The Justice Society of America would be featured in the film, including the characters of Hawkman, The Atom Smasher, Dr. Fate and Cyclone.
