MIZUNAMI VS. HIRSCH & MORE: AEW DARK - ELEVATION TV REPORT

By Josh Higham on 2021-03-23 13:47:00

We are heading right to the ring, as Tay Conti takes on Ray Lyn. Tay is ranked #2 on the Women’s side. -1 stays ringside with Conti. Ray Lyn gets more offense in than she did last week against Abadon, but a Hammerlock DDTay get the win for Conti.

Lee Johnson comes to the ring next, seconded by Dustin Rhodes, to wrestle Adam Priest. Priest gets the early advantage, with Wight and Schiavone asking with the problems with QT Marshall might be affect Johnson in the ring. But Johnson fights back and hits BrainDog (a fisherman’s brainbuster on the knee) for the pinfall win.

Dasha Gonzalez is in the back with Ryan Nemeth. Nemeth says he’s disgusted and offended by Orange Cassidy.

It’s time for the Varsity Blonds to face Fuego del Sol and Jake St. Patrick. The Blonds are getting fed to the Pinnacle on Dynamite, but they’ll get a win here. A lot of quick tags for the Blonds as they focus on St. Patrick, but Fuego gets the tag. We’re told Fuego was trained by the Armstrong family. Fuego connects with the tornado DDT on Pillman Jr, but the legal man, Garrison, hits a discus punch, which is enough for the pin.

Max Caster raps to the ring as he faces Ryzin. Paul Wight calls Caster a wrestling Paul Simon. Wait, what? Caster seems to be favoring his knee a bit, but the elbow drop from the top gets the win.

We get the Rising Star profile on Red Velvet.

Madi Wrenkowski and Leva Bates are uneasy partners, taking on Red Velvet and Big Swole. The issues between Wrenkowski and Bates become too much, and Leva leaves ringside. Velvet gets the pin, but Jade Cargill and Nyla Rose come to the stage to stare down Swole and Velvet.

In the back, Dasha is talking to Ethan Page, who doesn’t care about 5 from the Dark Order. He cares about wins and losses.

Team Taz is represented by Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks as they face off with Jorel Nelson and Royce Isaacs. Hook with a fanny pack stays ringside. Rochambeau on Nelson gets Team Taz the win.

Danny Limelight takes on Baron Black. Okay. So Schiavone just said, “Baron Black is looking for his first win. He’s been very successful.” Limelight gets the tap out victory. Very successful indeed.

It’s triple main event time as Ryan Nemeth comes to the ring to face off with Orange Cassidy. Chuck Taylor returns to the back. I feel like Cassidy has new music, which is way too up-tempo. DDP had the Smells Like Teen Spirit soundalike. We can’t get a Jane soundalike? Nemeth works over the arm, but Cassidy locks in the Mouse Trap for the pin. Nemeth attacks after the bell, and Taylor comes to the rescue. JD Drake comes out to help Nemeth, and they walk off together.

All Ego Ethan Page is facing Alan “5” Angels. Debut at the pay per view and straight to the C show within two weeks. Good. Ego’s Edge gives Page the win. But he asks for a mic. Page tells the wrestlers around ringside they just got a lesson in being the best wrestlers and all of us watching at home that we should get used to his face, because he’s gonna be around for a very long time.

Ryo Mizunami vs Leyla Hirsch is our featured bout of the show. Hirsch uses her amateur background and tries multiple times to snatch the armbar. Mizunami counters into a head and arm triangle and locks in deep to get the tap out win.
