LA FACCION VS. THE FOUNDATION: RING OF HONOR TV REPORT

By Anthony Pires on 2021-03-21 11:21:00

Quinn McKay, our lovely host, welcomes up to the 19th Anniversary Go Home edition of ROH TV and we have a huge main event: 8 man tag team action with the entirely of La Faccion Ingobernoble vs. The Foundation.

We have another awesome introductory video package introducing us to Eli Isom and Rey Horus.  ROH doesn't get nearly enough credit for these packages.  Each and every week, these video packages introduce us to the evenings competitors.  They make you care and get you invested in the talent.  Isom makes it perfectly clear that the Shinobi Shadow Squad is in the past.

Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman have the call of tonight's action.

Eli Isom vs. Rey Horus

Code of Honor adhered to.  Lockup, Horus with a go behind, reversed by Isom.  Horus and Isom exchange wristlocks. Legsweep by Horus, he misses an elbow and we have a staredown.  Reverse spin kick to the gut by Horus, he follows it up with a knife edge chop.  Isom reverses a whip into the corner but eats a kick off of the charge in.  A follow up by Isom results in a backdrop over the top rope.  Horus connects with a tope, clearing the turnbuckle as he does so (so smooth he looked like he was gliding).  Isom is slumped on the outside as we head to commercial.

We are back and in the ring.  This time it's Horus who gets nailed trying to connect with a turnbuckle charge.  Isom hits a Northern Lights Suplex.  Isom with a delayed suplex but he can't hold Horus too long. Horus gets a 2 off of a Spanish Fly. Isom swipes at the mask and we get a forearm exchange.  They start slow and the forearms pick up speed.  Isom nails an enziguiri. Horus blocks a whip into the corner and ends up nailing a belly to belly into the buckles.  He scores a 2 count. Horus goes for a spinning DDT and Isom blocks it and nails a brainbuster (The Promise)for the pin.

WINNER: Eli Isom

Post match Code of Honor adhered to.

We are reminded that 19th Anniversary is this Friday Night.  The action includes:

ROH World Champion Rush vs. Jay Lethal

EC3 vs. Jay Briscoe

ROH World Tag Team Champions Dragon Lee & Kenny King vs. Tracey Williams & Rhett Titus

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions Shane Taylor Promotions vs. Mexisquad

ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham vs. Dak Draper

Matt Taven vs. Vincent in a No Rules Match

Flip Gordon vs. Mark Briscoe

ROH World TV Champion Dragon Lee vs. Tracey Williams

Dalton Castle vs. Josh Woods

Eli Isom vs. Danhausen vs. Brian Johnson vs LSG

La Faccion Ingobernoble (Rush, Dragon Lee, La Bestia del Ring & Kenny King) vs. The Foundation (Jay Lethal, Jonathan Gresham, Tracey Williams & Rhett Titus)

To the shock of no one, Code of Honor is NOT adhered to.  Amy Rose joins commentary.

  • Lee and Gresham start out fast, reversing Irish whips and evading strikes until they both get frustrated and start slapping each other
  • Headlock takedown by Gresham, Lee grabs the throat, Gresham responds in kind
  • Lee spits at the Foudation corner, leading to an 8 man staredown
  • La Bestia and Williams square off. La Bestia with hard strikes, Williams counters with a hard chop and Bestia doesn't register.  They exchange chops.
  • Bestia takes Williams down with a clothesline and then slaps Jay Lethal on the apron.
  • Williams evades a senton and nails Bestia with a back elbow and a missle dropkick.  Bestia rolls to the floor.
  • Lethal and Rush tag in for a 19th Anniversary preview.  Rush offers Lethal a free shot but strikes him hard during Lethal's wind up.
  • Lethal fires back.  He sends Rush to the outside and spits on the LFI corner

We head to commercial

  • Titus and Kind, former partners square off.  Commentary takes King to task for turning on everyone he's ever been close with. Amy Rose (GREAT voice by the way) professes King's loyalty to LFI
  • Titus and King miss simultaneous dropkick and we a solid striking brawl in the corner.
  • Titus with a high cross body for 2.  Lethal tag in and goes after the left arm.
  • Gresham tags in and cranks back hard on a hammerlock. He nails an enziguiri and tags in Titus
  • Titus with chops and an immediate tag in to Gresham
  • Here comes LFI and we have an all out brawl around the building.  Referee Todd Sinclair either needs to throw this out or get control
  • Referee Joe Mandak comes out to help

We head to another commercial to hopefully get some order.

  • Williams is taking punishment on a four on one attack while the rest of the Foundation is laid out
  • Spinebuster by King and they lay out Williams with a sort of Demolition Style Decapitation Dropkick to Williams on the floor
  • Titus runs in to help but he gets laid out
  • Now it's Gresham's turn to get quadruple teamed

(Note: If I'm going to rant on AEW for their complete lack of following the rules, I can't be a hypocrite and say this is great.  This is a hell of a fun brawl, but this 4 on 1 has been going on without consequence for a while now.)

  • Gresham fires back and tags in Titus
  • Titus gets a 2 on Bestia off of a Northern Lights
  • Williams tags in and nails a piledriver for 2.  Lee make the save.
  • Williams with a Spicoli Driver on Lee for 2
  • Everyone joins in the fray and takes turns nailing their finishers until a cannonball to the outside calms things down
  • Bestia catches Williams with a spike tombstone and scores the pin.

WINNERS: La Faccion Ingobernoble

The winners pose as we go to credits.  An absolutely fast and insane brawl.
