Last week, The Trust Fund ambushed NEW tag champs Inzanely Rude, setting up tonight’s championship encounter. Paul Crockett & Jon Roy are on commentary.

Match 1: Dustin “Flash” Waller vs Kylon King

King is looking to get back in the win column after his loss to Tony Vega last week. He offers the handshake but it’s a trap! King tries to follow up but he gets armdragged out of the ring and eats a dive. Waller with a senton for two. King catches Waller with a knee to the back and hits a butterfly suplex for two. Waller getting beat down in the corner but Waller catches him with a head scissors. Waller trying to follow up but gets hit with a spinebuster for two. King with a trio of suplexes....but the third gets turned into a stunner by Waller. Springboard clothesline and a sling blade, the folllow up shooting star doesn’t finish Kylon yet. Waller tries a 450 but King is ready for it. Big boot to the face and a huge brain buster but Flash kicks out! Waller with a handspring stunner for two! Flash wants a tilt a whirl ddt but King grounds him. High angle german suplex and a running knee and Flash Waller is out for the three.

Winner: Kylon King

This was good! Both guys came to show off their stuff and built a good back and forth match of escalating high spots. The only crime here is they didn’t have a crowd to react to it. I feel like this would have gone over awesome.

We have promos from Kurt Angle and Matt Hardy, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of NEW.

Match 2: Vita Von Starr vs Little Mean Kathleen

They trade head and wrist locks to start. Starr drags Kathleen down but gets trapped in a head scissor. Handstand escape but Kathleen drags her back down with a cattle mutilation style wrist lock. Kathleen stays ahead of Starr with a head scissor and dropkick. Starr catches Kathleen mid-air into a buckle bomb and follows up with a german bridge for two. Cut to Starr working over Kathleen on the rope, LMK rolls through for a two count roll up. Starr tries a handspring splash but eats the knees. Starr with a big clothesline for two. Starr going for a powerbomb but LMK rolls up another two count. LMK wants a bulldog off the corner but eats a big boot. Starr gets a pin attempt but Kathleen crucifixes her for the three count.

Winner: Little Mean Kathleen

Starr was using her size advantage here to land some big hits on LMK, the desperation roll up finish here made sense. There was definitely an edit in the middle of the match, which seems like a common trend in the last few episodes of Studio Wars, this one felt less intrusive that previous episodes though. A couple of awkward spots in places but they made it work in the end.

Match 3: Moshpit vs “Red Lion” Chris Battle

Battle came up short in a main event war with Mike Gamble last week. Moshpit doesn’t wanna be a rebound win and he attacks during Battle’s entrance. The Red Lion absorbs it, staggers Moshpit and hits a big fallaway slam. Moshpit tries to get another lick in but Battle reverses and hits a spear for the three count.

Winner: Chris Battle

Moshpit may not have wanted to be a stepping stone but Battle forced the role on him anyways. Quick and easy. Statement made.

We get an interview with Thrillride, who says losing to Club Cam last week was him hitting rock bottom. Tonight, he’s putting Cam through the mat. Let’s see how that goes?

Match 4: “Club Cam” Cam Zagami vs “Thrillride” Jimmy Preston

Cam should have learned from last week and gotten his velvet rope and posts out of the ring. Thrillride isn’t playing tonight and dives over the velvet rope and drags Cam right out. Cam getting beat apron to post. Cam guts Thrillride and tells the DJ to hit the music. The music doesn’t come and Thrillride is back up to hit a powerslam for two. Cam up in the fireman’s carry, slips and tries the low blow again but Thrillride is ready for it. Cam picked back up for the sitout powerbomb and Cam is DOA.

Winner: Thrillride

Jimmy Preston was ALL business tonight. I’ve really enjoyed the mini-stories he’s gotten to tell on this show. Cam is a great heel but it was comeuppance night for him here. Good stuff.

We have a promo from NZO, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of NEW.

Main Event: Inzanely Rude(c) (RJ Rude and Zane Bernardo) vs The Trust Fund (JP Grayson & Channing Thomas w/ Jared Silberkleit) (for the NEW tag team championships)

We get right into the action, Inzanely Rude not forgetting last week’s ambush. The champs are all over the Trust Fund with tandem offense, sending them to the outside to strategize. Grayson tries his luck but eats a wheelbarrow x-factor. Double dive to the outside and the NEW tag champs are cruising to the win. Jared Silberkleit seems sad. Maybe 2021 is okay after all. JP isolated again but Thomas and Silberkleit cut Inzanely Rude off on the top rope. Grayson with a double axe handle from the top to Bernardo. Neckbreaker from Thomas for two. Trust Fund giving Rude all the heat, distracting the ref for a little more damage when possible. Jared is happy with these developments. Paul and Jon Roy share a story about how wearing compression shorts for the battle royale brought Jared joy. Rude getting ground down to the mat with a headlock but then forced to have Jared yelling at his face from ringside. Ugh, Rude could have tapped to THAT. Zane gets the tag but the ref misses it due to distraction. Trust Fund with a double neckbreaker on RJ for a close two. Thomas with some extra pin attempts to wear Rude down more. RJ dodges a corner dropkick, Thomas crashes and burns. Zane gets the tag in and he’s going house, Thomas sent to the outside with a dropkick. Flying forearm and a Big DVD to Grayson, Jared Silberkleit quickly enters the ring to break up the pin attempt. Jared arguing with the ref to avoid a DQ and eats a double superkick from Inzanely Rude. “That was more satisfying than a DQ” says Paul Crockett. Inzanely Rude hits a superplex/Swanton bomb combo on Grayson. Thomas hasn’t recovered enough and can’t stop the pinfall.

Winners (and stilllllllll champions): Inzanely Rude

“Not only did Inzanely Rude retain their championships but we also got to see Jared Silberkleit get kicked in the face. A double win for us!” Says the NEW commentary team. Yes indeed. A solid main event, good shenanigans from SIlberkleit had me thinking the Trust Fund might take it but the emotion coming from Inzanely Rude, working together for the first time in several months, was not going to be denied on this night.

And that’s it for Episode 9. Overall, a good showing from NEW. The opener was fun, some quick mid-card work and a solidly competitive main event. An easy 40-min watch. Next week, we will see “Mucho” Chris Moljo vs Wrecking Ball Legursky and the American Sumo Mike Gamble gets his shot at the NEW LIVE Championship against Big Bacon Brad Hollister. Hell yeah! Until then!
