From Kyoto, Japan:
1 - Yuya Uemura, Juice Robinson, Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Dick Togo, KENTA, Bad Luck Fale and EVIL
EVIL gets a submission win on Yuya Uemura with a Scorpion Death Lock.
EVIL continues to look strong heading into his Round 2 match against Jeff Cobb.
2 - Tomoaki Honma, Yuji Nagata and Satoshi Kojima vs. Great O-Khan, Will Ospreay and Jeff Cobb
Cobb pins Honma with a Tour of the Islands.
Cobb has been the getting all the wins for United Empire, which makes his match against EVIL quite interesting.
3 - SHO, Hirooki Goto, Tomohiro Ishii and Kazuchika Okada vs. BUSHI, Tetsuya Naito, SANADA and Shingo Takagi
BUSHI pins SHO with a La Magistral Cradle.
4 - New Japan Cup 2021 1st Round Match: David Finlay vs. Chase Owens
Juice Robinson accompanied Finlay to ringside. Owens was focusing on attacking the lower back of Finlay in tag matches during the New Japan Cup Tour. He continued his attack on Finlay's back in this match, hoping that it would limit Finlay's offense. Owens went to the floor to uncover the concrete. Juice ran to stop him but the referee stopped Juice. With the referee distracted, Owens hit Finlay in the face with the Texas Heavyweight belt. Owens goes for a pin and Finlay kicks out at two. Owens goes for a package piledriver but Finlay reverses out and rolls up Owens for the pinfall win.
Good match between these New Japan Strong wrestlers.
David Finlay moves on to Round 2.
5 - New Japan Cup 2021 1st Round Match: YOSHI-HASHI vs. Yujiro Takahashi
YOSHI-HASHI took a beating in this match. Takahashi hit his trademark moves, including the Olympic Slam, Fisherman Buster and Miami Shine, but could only get a two-count. Takahashi went for Pimp Juice but YOSHI-HASHI reversed out of it. YOSHI-HASHI hit a full nelson suplex, a lariat, neckbreaker and a swanton bomb. Only a two count. YOSHI-HASHI applies the Butterfly Lock in the middle of the ring. Takahashi struggles for the ropes and gets out of the submission. YOSHI-HASHI hits Kharma and pins Takahashi.
YOSHI-HASHI moves on to Round 2 to face David Finlay.
6 - New Japan Cup 2021 1st Round Match: Toa Henare vs. Jay White, with Gedo
Henare used his power and speed to chase down White, who was trying to avoid locking up. Henare threw White into the guardrails and took an early advantage in the match. White suplexed Henare over the top rope and attacked his lower back by throwing him into the ring apron. White slowed the pace down with chinlocks and strikes to the lower back of Henare. Henare fought back and White hit a Bladebuster, a release german suplex and a uranage. White kicked Henare out of the ring and demanded that the referee count him out. Henare jumped back in the ring. White hit a Kiwi Krusher, but Henare kicked out at two. White threw Henare with a wicked Saito Suplex, and put him on the top rope for a superplex. Henare blocked and hit a shoulderblock from the top rope. Henare with a running Samoan Drop, but only a two count. Henare nailed a hard spear on White, for only a two count. Henare hit a Toa Bottom and goes for the pin. White barely kicks out at two. Gedo tried hit Henare but ate a punch. Henare hit another spear for a two count. White hit a sleeper suplex and finally a Bladerunner for the pin.
Good match. Toa Henare looked really good in this match. Jay White also helped make Henare with they way he bumped, similar to Ric Flair or Shawn Michaels.
Jay White will face Hiroshi Tanahashi in Round 2.
Jay White takes the mic and demands the Young Lions to give him ice. He said he will win the "New Jay-Pan Cup". He said he will be coming for Kota Ibushi. He tells Ibushi that he will split the World Title back into two separate titles. He tells Tanahashi that he knows he cannot beat Jay White, so just let him win in Round 2 and he will go on to win the Cup and beat Ibushi, then split the titles, and Jay White will preserve the legacy of both the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental titles, as well as Tanahashi's legacy with the titles.
Round 2 of the New Japan Cup begins tomorrow headlined by:
1. Jeff Cobb vs. EVIL
2. Great O-Khan vs. Toru Yano
