REMEMBERING JIM CROCKETT JR.

I am very sad to hear of the passing of one of our industries most influential promoters, my boss for several years, a friend, and class gentleman Jim Crockett Jr.

Jim gave me creative freedom to build the Mid Atlantic Wrestling Magazine into what is a prized collectable today, and extended that trust to handling the yearbook/program for the Charlotte Orioles baseball team and the Winston Salem hockey team.

As serious a businessman Jim was he also had a sense of humor, as I remember him returning from a NWA meeting and inviting me up to his office, & informed me he had a "small" project for me to handle......and then told me I was to design and edit a magazine for the entire NWA with a smile on his face! He pushed me to excel, as he did himself.

Boss or not Jim showed that he could work in the trenches as well. We were at the Greensboro Coliseum standing near the ticket turnstiles as the gates were just opening. The new issue of our magazine was laid out on the tables for sale but the vendors were not in place. As the fans started to pour into the building Jim said "Well let's go to work" and grabbed a hand full of magazines and starting waving one in the air and working the crowd in his suit & tie, so I grabbed some and went to work!

I am so proud and honored to have been a member of the great JCP organization, and to have worked side by side with Jim, Francis, David, & Jackie, and it's with a sad heart that I share these memories today.

Any of us that worked with Jim are better for it, just as the wrestling industry is a better place because of Jim's involvement. That golden ring in the sky is in for some great wrestling cards with the list of greats to pick form and now they will be booked and promoted by both Jim Crockett Sr & Jr.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Jim's family and friends in this time of sadness. Go with God my dear friend, and know that your legacy will live on in our memories with much Love & Respect!
