The announced partnership between FITE.TV and The National Wrestling Alliance will see four PPVs per year produced as well as NWA Powerrr airing Tuesdays on FITE.TV. The plan is for FITE to offer a subscription service for the weekly NWA TV similar to what the streaming service offers international fans with AEW+. The NWA content will be 100% exclusive to FITE going forward.
The return PPV is set for for Sunday 3/21, titled Back for the Attack at 4 PM EST. The show is scheduled for Sunday afternoon in the United States with an eye on international viewers being able to watch it in the late evening live as it happens. The PPV will air on all traditional PPV and satellite providers beyond FITE.
NWA Powerrr, as a weekly series, will return on Tuesday 3/23 in an empty arena environment on FITE.TV, still being taped at its usual home of GPB Studios in Atlanta, GA.
NWA President Billy Corgan was interviewed today by The Associated Press to discuss the move to FITE at this link. During the conversation, Corgan revealed the NWA was about to sign a deal with Live Nation to present a series of house shows before the pandemic brought everything to a halt. PWInsider.com has mentioned this before as the promotion was within weeks of closing the deal that would have seen events in Long Island, NY, Chicago and other markets.
"“We were never in any financial peril,” Corgan said of the NWA's status before the pandemic shut-down. “We were totally on a growth pattern. The plan for last year before things kind of hit the skids was to start pivoting. We were in discussions with Live Nation about running live events to help bring in revenue and expand who was watching the product. It was more about growing pains stuff, but we didn’t have any problems internally with the product.”
There had been interest in the NWA from at least one other streaming platform that had previously featured professional wrestling before the deal with FITE was signed.
NWA Champion Nick Aldis will be one of those leading the charge for the promotion, in front of and behind the cameras. Billy Corgan will remain the booker.
Pat Kenney, aka the former Simon Diamond, will be taking a greater role for the NWA going forward and will be essentially heading up talent relations. He was previously worked as a producer for the company.
Aron Stevens, NWA National Champion Trevor Murdoch, NWA TV Champion Elijah Burke, Tim Storm, Thunder Rosa and Kamille are already being advertised for the PPV. Homicide is also expected to return and the plan is to debut a number of new talents since others have moved on since the promotion paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
