By Mike Johnson on 2021-02-28 19:01:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's ongoing coverage of AEW's debut special on Bleacher Report, which you can watch at this link.

Taz and Excalibur are the announcers.

Mei Suruga & Rin Kadokura & AEW Women's Hikaru Shida vs. Emi Sakura & Veny & Maki Itoh.

They are in the Ice Ribbon dojo.  No fans.

Maki Itoh sang when she came to the ring.  Excalibur and Taz did a nice job breaking down each talent for new viewers without burying them under a ton of exposition and facts.  That is not easy to balance but they did a good job of delivering in a conversational way.

Shida's team offered handshakes but were blown off.  Team Sakura attacked them before the bell.  Shida was beated down by Veny and Itoh.  Shida sent her into the buckles but Itoh reversed a whip and rained down with punches in the corner.    She nailed Shida with a series of forearms but The AEW Champion absorbed it and knocked her down to the mat.  Itoh psyched herself up but was drilled in the jaw and taken down.  Shida tagged in Kadokura who nailed with a big lariat and a cannonball.  Sakura tagged in and cut off Kadokura with a big backbreaker.  Veny tagged in and controlled the ring.  Kadokura wasn't fazed by a series of forearm shots and nailed a big shot to the eardrums.

Katokura fired back and nailed a big missile dropkick.  Katokura nailed a Northern Lights suplex for a two count.  She rebounded off the ropes and nailed an elevated DDT.  Suruga tagged in and nailed a springboard into a double stomp.  She locked Venny in a Cattle Mutiliation but Venny made it to the ropes to force the break.  Suruga came off the ropes but was caught.  She manuevered into a forward roll but Venny escaped.  Venny nailed her with a quebrada for a two count.   Sakura nailed a series of bow and arrows as she rolled around Itoh as she sang in the middle of the ring.  Itoh then dropped a headbutt on Suruga.

Venny tagged in and worked over Suruga, who came back to stomp her feet. She went for a suplex but it was blocked and Venny slammed her hard for a two count. Mei kept working over Suruga with Sakura for a long time but Suruga kept kicking up. Suruga finally came back to bodyslam Sakura and tagged Shida.  Shida exploded with a big dropkick in the corner.  Team Sakura were trapped in the corner.  Shida suplexed Venny atop the rest of the team.  She then charged outside and nailing a rising knee strike on the apron on Sakura.  She nailed a Meteora on Sakura for a close two count.

Shida nailed a tilowhirl backbreaker.  Sakura fired back with her own.  They faced off and drilled each other with hard chops. Sakura caught her with a reverse DDT variation.  Sakura nailed a horizontal bodypress in the corner.  Itoh nailed a swinging DDT which sparked a series of big moves.  Suruga dove off Shida to splash Sakura.  Sakura locked up each of them in submissions at the same time.  Venny nailed a moonsault to the floor on Shida.

Venny and Sakura worked over Shida, who kicked up after a moonsault.  Shida fired back with a rough, evil elbow shot on Venny.  Itoh nailed her with a headbutt from outside.  Venny nailed a powerbomb for a two count.  Venny was hit with a top rope rana, then hit with a series of suplex variations for a two count.  Shida nailed a running knee but Sakura broke up the pinfall.  Team Sakura were all whipped into each other, hit with a triple dropkick.  Shida nailed Venny with a Falcon Arrow for another two count.  She nailed another big knee strike and scored the pin.

Your winners, Mei Suruga & Rin Kadokura & AEW Women's Hikaru Shida!

Good, FUN tag match.   Shida REALLY had to earn the win over Venny.  Everyone looked good.

Sakura attacked the winners after the bell.  Itoh joined in.  Shida drilled her and tossed her to the floor, where Sakura attacked and put the boots to her own partner.

Yuka Sakazaki vs. Ryo Mizunami - AEW Women's Eliminator Tournament Japan Bracket Final.

Mizunami was all confident and bullied Sakazaki early, crushing her hand during a shake.   Sakazaki was backed into the corner during a clench but Mizunami broke clean.  Sakazaki grabbed an arm but Mizunami overpowered her and reversed the hold, twisting the arm of the younger competitor.  She elevated and slammed Sakazaki down to the mat.  Sakazaki used the ropes to escape the move and used a top wristlock to take Mizunami to the mat.  She grabbed a side headlock but was sent off into the ropes.  She nailed a dropkick but hardly fazed Mizunami.

Undaunted, Sakazaki nailed a big lariat.  Mizunami came back with a slam but her leg was hurt from the submission and she was hurting.  Mizunami nailed a wheel barrow suplex and followed up with a brutal lariat and knee strike.  Sakazaki kicked up but was immediately locked in a choke.  She reversed it into a triangle sleeper and it appeared Mizunami was out but finally fought to her feet, pulling up Sakazaki into a deadlift powerbomb.  Mizunami was slapping herself trying to rouse herself when Sakazaki attacked with a series of chops.  She went for an enziugiri but was drilled by Mizunami with a big lariat.

Mizunami drilled her with several strikes but Sakazaki fired back with strikes and a rolling elbow.  She nailed a sliding lariat for a two count.  Yuka went to the ropes and nailed a springboard frog splash (The Magical Girl Splash) for a close two count.  Mizunami snatched her as she went for another move and nailed a big uranage.  They battled to their feet, grabbing at each other.  Mizunami nailed a headbutt and went for a Torture Rack slam but Sakazaki fired up with several escapes and near falls.  Mizunami speared her to cut that last attempt off and nailed a short arm lariat for another two count.
