Randall Park continues his interview but instead of in a studio they are at the Dwayne Johnson Library dedication at Bethlehem, PA’s “Freedom High School.” Johnson says he doesn’t deserve it because he spents most of his time in the city shoplifting as a teenager. His parents opened a cleaning service after Rocky Sr. had stopped working for Vince McMahon. Johnson still wrestled locally and they show him talking himself up to the guys at the gym about wrestling Ric Flair.
Ata is cleaning the home of a rich lady named Diane who is complaining about all of her “problems.” Ata snaps and says complaining about being a rich divorcée are not real problems when she is working hard to support her family, pay the rent and put food on the table.
Dwayne and Gabe are working at the pizza place when Fine Ass Karen and her friends Big Hair Karen, Color-Blind Karen and Bonnie show up for a slice. Dwayne aka “Tomas” tells the girls he’s rich because of his dad’s wrestling career. She wasn’t too impressed because Rocky wasn’t on WrestleMania 3. Tomas is able to score a date after doing a bad “Hans & Frans” of SNL fame impression.
We see Rocky Johnson reliving the glory days talking about a match with Roddy Piper to the mailman who has no idea what wrestling is. Johnson isn’t getting paid by the promoter Afa set him up with despite the shows being “sold out.”
Arriving at school Dwayne gets stopped by the principal, who also thinks DWayne is an undercover cop. “Tomas”’is able to convince Fine Ass Karen to go to the wrestling matches with him.
In the meantime, Ata has become friendly with Diane. She comes over to apologize for the way she spoke to her the last time and introduces her to spam & seaweed on rice and she is shown “The Sally Jesse Raphael Show”.
Karen and Tomas arrive at the college but unfortunately when they get to the show it’s at the flea market in the parking lot and not at the college arena as Rocky claimed, humiliating “Tomas” in front of Karen. When they arrive, they see Rocky and he calls Tomas “Dewey.” Karen doesn’t believe Dewey is a real nickname for Tomas and is too stuck up to want to stay and watch the show. He says she can go home but he’s going to watch his Dad. He is asked why he didn’t leave and he responded to Randall, It’s my dad.
The Rock narrates and says it didn’t matter where the Soulman wrestled he gave 100% no matter if it was Ric Flair, Roddy Piper or The Gull.
Karen stays with Dwayne and Rocky is fighting a local named The Gull. Johnson puts on a great match selling everything which gets Karen into the match, she starts booing and yelling at The Gull. Rocky gets the win and afterward, Karen admits to having a good time with Dwayne and wants a second date. Karen sees Rocky getting under paid for three matches he’s worked but it’s only $300 and she’s confused because Dwayne claimed he’s rich. Dwayne says Rocky gets paid more at the bigger shows and he’s just doing this one as a favor for his Uncle Afa. But there aren’t bigger shows...
Back at school, Karen tells Dwayne she had a great time but Kevin makes fun of Rocky for working at the flea market in front of ten fans. He asks Karen why she liked watching “that fake stuff”.
Dwayne takes a swing and knocks out Kevin. “Never use the F word” he says as the show ends.
“Young Rock” airs at 8PM on or On Demand on NBC.
